GameDaily has a gallery chock-full of fresh video game tattoos, one of the boldest ways you can make a commitment both to a beloved hobby and virginity simultaneously. (Trust us.) Though many of the tattoos are cool (we especially like the stained-glass Link) the ones that really caught our eye were Portal-based tats you see above.
It's impressive, and not just because of the permanence. Think of it. This cat beat Portal and said "That was such a great experience, I'm going to go out and get needles jammed into me for longer than it took to complete it." That's real love, right there. Real love.

Going in one end just to see yourself going out of the other?
Doesn't sound like a very sexy idea.

very cool. But I don't get it; A birthday cake = lies? What's that supposed to mean.

I loved Portal, but please consider this simple equation: Fad + Tattoo = Regrets
The game was great, and not a fad at all... but this idiotic Companion Cube / cake stuff has gone too far. It was funny in the game, it's not very funny outside of that.

I agree with the Fad thing. But I would get a Mario Tattoo in a heartbeat. Is it a fad if it's been popular for 20+ years?

It's even less funny for those that haven't played Portal.
But I'm sure it's good for a laugh for those that have.

Actually I played portal but since I got it late the whole "Cake is a lie" fad was so incredibly overused that once I played portal well it wasn't that funny. Basically the internet mob dried most of the fun out of portal but the parts that weren't spoiled were genius.
I would set an example but I believe Rob Accomando haven't played portal yet and I don't want to spoil more of the game for him.

Rob, you do understand the concept of a fad yes?
Something that gains popularity very fast but then dies out soon after.
If somethings been popular for 20 years then its hardly a fad, so yes you can get that mario tatoo

Yeah, screw the time it took for the tattoos. This guy/gal has committed themselves to having to explain their skin art to 99% of the population that sees them for the rest of their lives...

Portal is great but I always had the feeling people were taking it way too far. Yeah I would wear a portal shirt (which hopefully will arrive next week) and other stuff but a tattoo? Well I hope that needle was clean otherwise enjoy your hepatitis.

If you go to an artist that doesn't use a new needle each time (i.e., unwraps it in front of you), go somewhere else. I have yet to hear of such a place though. Most places are very very clean and sanitary - think about it, the artist would get hep before you did.

The *concept* of the tattoo is great, but, the tattoo itself *fucking sucks.* Did a 5-year-old do the tattoo? Did your "friend" the "artist" do it? Because dude, wow, that's *one bad tattoo.* Enjoy your life.

Please stop posting pictures of tattoos on pasty, pimply, open pore nerd skin. I swear everytime I see pics of nerdy tattoos, people's skin in those pics lack sun and essential vitamins and minerals. Yeeacccch.

I think the love/lies thing is a cool concept for tattoos, but the companion cube and cake... I'm sure we'll be seeing those again when this guy tries to reenact the upcoming jackass movie on youtube

Not all tattoos are supposed to be realistic. I've seen bad tattoos, and those are not bad. The fine line between creative art and suck hasn't been crossed here.
I love the black lines around the text. Looks cool. Definetly makes the art and text go together.

Video game tattoos are stupid about 99% of the time.
Unless you had Alzheimer's disease and playing Mario Galaxy brought you back into reality there's no reason you should have a Gumba tattoo on your ass.

That's one of worste tattoos I've seen in a very long time. The perspective of the two art work sucks! If you're going to brand yourself for life, at least get an Artist that knows what they are doing. It's the basics...

Getting a tattoo based on an internet fad is just.. beyond pathetic.

That Portal tattoo is terrible. It's just poorly thought out, poorly designed, poorly located etc. Sorry Portal tattoo dude, but you made a mistake. Oh yeah, it was poorly done too. Look at the hearts on the cube.

To be fair, red is a really hard color to pull off. It usually either gets absorbed or scabs hard. Either way, the hearts are probably going to have to be touched up at some point.

This is a great way to say, "Ladies want nothing to do with me." He should have found a better artist his companion cube looks crappy.

"When I played Portal and encountered the [companion cube] I saw something iconic and instantly recognizable to anyone who is a Valve fan. The cake is for balance (plus I like to make cakes!). I work in the video game industry so I figured it was a perfect fit. Plus it doesn't hurt that the game is incredibly innovative." -From the girl who got the tattoo, as found on the Game Daily link.
There was logic to the madness some of you seem to think took over her. Personally, I love video game tattoos. It's a reflection of how much games can affect someone and I see it as nothing short of a beautiful thing.
Though, I'd get the hearts retouched. Color's not as strong.
