Tekken film gets a director
A film based on Tekken has been in development limbo for a while now, presumably for other reasons besides the fact that a movie based on Tekken is a very bad idea. Now it seems that the project is gaining significant momentum with the announcement of a director, shooting schedule and even a few plot details.Variety reports that the film will be helmed by Dwight Little, who you might know from his work on the sequel to Anacondas, Murder at 1600 or Steven Segal's Marked For Death. He's also got some video game experience after serving as the director for Ground Zero Texas (wait, that had a director?).
Little says he'll begin shooting on Feb. 4 in Shreveport, La. from a script by frequent collaborator Alan McElroy (no relation) about "a rebel who rises up against the Tekken Corp. to seize freedom for his people." So, yeah, it's picking up steam. We're just not sure yet if the train is hurtling toward a brick wall.

Dude looks just like my Uncle, if my uncle lost a few pounds.

he also looks like the gay guy from the sarah silverman show
FOXHOUND @ Dec 20th 2007 9:12AM
The supposed 'rebel' hero sounds like that new TEKKEN6 fatty, "BOB" or Yosemite Sam. :p
I swear, I should've went into script writing or film making if they let just any ol'yokel(read: Uwe Boll)do the work... and get paid handsomely for it.
Obie @ Dec 20th 2007 9:23AM
I am sure the film will do Uwe Boll proud.
Who the hell cares about Tekken anyways?
SugarDaddy @ Dec 21st 2007 8:30AM
Heh, seriously! Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to make a Tekken movie?! Don't people remember how bad the Street Fighter movie and the Mortal Kombat movies were? If this is released in the theaters, I will wait at the ticket booth and personally slap everyone who buys a ticket to this guaranteed crap-show. I mean, who the hell even knew Tekken the game had a story anyhow?
Obie @ Dec 21st 2007 8:59AM
Not to mention the Dead or Alive movie, that one was one fat ass turkey!
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 20th 2007 9:23AM

MUSHROOM! MUSHROOM!
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Dec 20th 2007 9:59AM
You can already tell this movie won't be too good. "man rising up against the Tekken Corp." Hasn't it always been in Tekken games the Mishima zaibatsu.
They might as well make an animated movie like the old anime one.
PhrawzT @ Dec 20th 2007 10:33AM
I smell a straight to video release. This sounds like a crappy movie with little to do with the Tekken series. I can just imagine some unknown pasty white actors playing the Mishimas.
RatBoy @ Dec 20th 2007 11:36AM
... or a cliff, the train could be headed for a cliff. A cliff with a whole mess o' brick walls just laying around at the bottom. That sounds about right.
Phi Nguyen @ Dec 20th 2007 12:20PM
LOL. Dude looks like Milton from Office Space.
maverick_saturn_626 @ Dec 20th 2007 1:24PM
Garbage, this film has lots of potential, I just needs a decent writer, these movies suck because they always have like one mega character or shit storyline, much like Halo movie, I can't structure a decent plot for that in my mind without thinking about a recurrence or Bruce Willis or Arnold.
Tekken could be quite good, but with these actors, directors and writers, hell no. A bad storyline could end up being a DOA, a good plot could end up being a fight club lookalike.
ZippyDSMlee @ Dec 20th 2007 1:47PM
Great more no nothings screwing up game/comic films.....
Eville1 @ Dec 20th 2007 2:38PM
As long as Lateef Crowder is Eddy. I'll download his fight scene from youtube.
refinedsugar @ Dec 20th 2007 4:32PM
lol ... from the guys who brought you Halloween 4 (yay), Ground Zero Texas (umm...) and Rapid Fire (nay).
maverick_saturn_626 @ Dec 20th 2007 4:37PM
As long as Jackie Chan is Lei, Wezli Snipes is Raven and Law is Tony Ja then I'll be fine ;)
ThornedVenom @ Dec 20th 2007 4:55PM
Just gimme goddamn movie Yoshimitsu already.
Anime-God @ Dec 28th 2007 10:51AM

kbomb1upc @ Jan 11th 2008 2:56PM
I've been playing Tekken since the first one in the Arcades and I've even sat and watched the first Tekken Movie, but this has DOA written all over it.
SteveWong @ Jan 12th 2008 1:22PM
