WOW. We've posted about Space Invaders scarves before, but this one definitely takes the cake as the classiest , most fashionable implementation of Taito's classic shooter we've ever seen. Designed by Lendorff.Kaywa, the Space Invaders scarf features a "QR-code", which when read by special mobile phone software can be decoded to reveal a hidden message.
Of course, so much spiffyness doesn't come cheap. The scarf costs £32.50 GBP (approximately $65 USD). If you're going to get one for that special someone in your life, better act fast, too: the scarf is a limited run of 500, although more Space Invaders designs are promised in the future.

The message says something along the lines of
'Insert coin to continue' I believe.
I wish I had something to read this.

Are you just guessing? or can you read blips of ink in a box? ;)
Impressive if the latter. I've heard of reading barcodes but this is rather more difficult.

I think i should point out that that scarf is still cheaper than most new games in England.

Indeed. I do enjoy raising awareness of the shafting. It's ever so painful. We never got Chrono Trigger, either. :-/
To be honest, though, this is the only site i use anything remotely like this screen name. It's because Joystiq stories have this great way of reminding me how much more we pay for games and how much later (if ever) we get them.

See, this is why I need to learn to knit for myself. Sure, the kids might tease me for it, but I'll be the one rocking the sweet Mega Man scarf. The who has the last laugh, huh?

Heh, I grabbed my Japanese cell phone just for this. It says: "Insert coin for extra life."
