Fan-made DS Lite redesign is impressive

Anyway, certainly an interesting concept... but here's a mental puzzle for you: how would you get it open if the two sliding sides meet flush up against each other and there's no non-moving segment for leverage? Slider phones work well because you set off the spring-loaded mechanism by pushing off the non-moving part of the cell phone. You'd definitely need a release mechanism somewhere on the outside of this, which means it'll be exposed to all the button-mashing elements in one's pockets/bags (I'm assuming this would have to be spring loaded, because it just isn't cool if both sides don't open in synchrony).

I, for one, think the DS Lite is quite perfect the way it is, and can only be improved by non-breaking hinges and better hardware.

you pull them apart, duh.
and if there was a lock button, you would push the button while pulling apart. i can unlock and open the wings on my DS case without using the center piece for leverage.

personally i think the DS should get BIGGER. i don't like squinting at small screens, and it's uncomfortable for me to hold without its case cuz it's so thin.

I agree that the current DS is pretty much perfect, although I wouldn't object to bigger screens, as gevenstaines pointed out. I don't know how that would affect older DS games, though.
