After a blatant bug caused it to be yanked from the Xbox Live Marketplace, Sensible World of Soccer has returned sans obvious technical faults. This version of the footy classic still has the problem of us being completely rubbish at it, but we can't lay the blame at the feet of the developers. They'd just boot it into our obviously unguarded net.
If you were enjoying the previous release of Codemasters' kicker despite the creepy crawlies in the code, you're advised to delete the game from your Xbox 360 hard drive and download it again. Major Nelson assures us that you won't be charged if you've already paid for it -- and if not, swos never your concern anyway.

Here is a tip from a Sensi veteran. To score, aim for the corners of the goal. IE: diagonally accross the goal and into the top corner.
Another way to score is to Shoot streight at the center of the goal and bend the ball out into the corner.
Thats how I score in most of my games.

Erm...My point was that this game is old. And in old footy games there is a trend of only being able to score in certain ways. I have never scored a goal in sensi by taking the ball down the wing and crossing it for a striker to knock it in. Unfortunately, that kind of gameplay does not work in Sensi.
And that is, imho, the games major fault. You get pretty tired of scoring the same goals all the time.

And another thing. Wingers and fullbacks are completely useless in this game. All of the gameplay - at least all of the gameplay that leads to anything productive - comes from the midfeilders and strikers. Knock the ball up the center of the pitch and hope you find a striker who is good enough to keep the ball at his feet long enough to line himself up for another one of those shots at the corner of the goal. I hardly ever use my wingers or my fullbacks.
It is genuinly great to play this game again but it has aged alot after all these years.

I think I'm too old. Things are moving so fast I can't tell what the hell is going on.

Did the wiz kids at MS ever find a fix for the opt out of Dashboard ads that worked?
