Rock Band Weekly: All-American Rejects, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Sounds; PS3 delayed a week
We are now exploring the void and have no idea what songs will appear as part of Rock Band's downloadable content every week. This week's tracks come from an eclectic group of contemporary artists and if you don't like them, well move along, move along, like we know you do -- but perhaps the $1 price on the songs will actually get rock snobs to consider the purchase. The tracks become available through Xbox Live Marketplace tomorrow and -- due to Sony being on vacation this week -- will be part of a DLC double-dose next Thursday on the PlayStation Network.

Meh.
James @ Dec 24th 2007 2:20PM
Oh I WILL move along... VERY quickly..
voloftn @ Dec 24th 2007 6:06PM
Sony is on vacation this week? They've been on vacation since they released the POS3.
T3H WICKERMAN (FDF) @ Dec 26th 2007 12:22AM
zing, zing, and zing!1!!11!1! Think i will pass on these, but at least they are still releasing new songs hope these albums show up soon.
Mark @ Dec 24th 2007 2:05PM

k04sm02 @ Dec 24th 2007 2:12PM
not the best songs, but for $1? I hope this becomes a trend.
Joe @ Dec 24th 2007 2:12PM
With the .99 cent price tag, I'll pick up Attack but skip the others. I need to get all the content I wanted before tomorrow, when I have confirmation of owning Rock Band.
Mike Jenkins @ Dec 24th 2007 2:17PM
I love 30 Seconds to Mars, so not only am I excited that their songs are up for download, but also that they're only $1! I was worried I would have to buy some picture pack or theme to burn my few remaining points, but this is great!
Mike Jenkins @ Dec 24th 2007 2:18PM
I really hope to see more of their songs on Rock Band, too.
bolt @ Dec 24th 2007 2:18PM
crap
spambot @ Dec 24th 2007 2:20PM
For only $1 it might be worth picking up a few of them. Some of them are at least catchy if nothing else.
I'm still waiting to see some They Might Be Giants songs on DLC.
WhatIsThatThing @ Dec 24th 2007 10:30PM
AGREED.
Fartbox Pro @ Dec 24th 2007 2:23PM
I think I can wait a week for this. Hell, I could probably wait the rest of my short little miserable life for these turds.
jovin6 @ Dec 24th 2007 2:41PM
Seriously. At what point did rock go from the likes of RATM, Oasis, Nirvana, etc. to this shit? And why?
I used to like rock music. :(
jovin6 @ Dec 24th 2007 2:46PM
EDIT: I guess the last song is not bad. Definitely outclasses the others by a mile.
Zoesch @ Dec 24th 2007 5:58PM
Oh and when did rock turn from the greatness of Hüsker Dü, Pixies, My Bloody Valentine or Joy Division to the crap of Oasis, RATM and Nirvana?
Fartbox Pro @ Dec 24th 2007 6:06PM
Lets just agree that you're both wrong.
Zoesch @ Dec 24th 2007 6:18PM
The SS Sarcasm set his sails and left you stranded
Fartbox Pro @ Dec 24th 2007 6:26PM
Will you be my Gilligan, little buddy?
Zoesch @ Dec 24th 2007 6:35PM
So tell me what you want, what you really really want...
David Hinkle @ Dec 24th 2007 2:32PM
Oh man, The Sounds?! Heck yeah, I'll be picking that tune up. I heart that band pretty hard.
Danners @ Dec 24th 2007 4:42PM
Likewise...Rock Band had me with the New Pornographers, and now The Sounds? It's great that they're not just sticking with classic tunes or main stream stuff and providing some variety.
jake18oly @ Dec 24th 2007 2:34PM
Unlike some of the others I actually like All-American Rejects and 30 Seconds to Mars. I am going to buy those songs and will probably pick up the Sounds because of the cheaper price.
def PD @ Dec 24th 2007 2:54PM
$1 for 30STM? I'm all over it!!
Brian Fantana @ Dec 24th 2007 2:59PM
30STM are suprisingly good. If you like them you should check out The Receiving End of Sirens. And those are 30STM's best songs too. If I had Rock Band, I'd buy em.
Anthony @ Dec 24th 2007 4:29PM
Those are not their best songs. Their best songs are on their self-titled debut album ("Capricorn", "Oblivion", etc).
TX2Step @ Dec 24th 2007 3:01PM
Big time meh.
SJ @ Dec 24th 2007 3:03PM
What is up with these songs? I want some classics.
GibGirl @ Dec 24th 2007 3:11PM
The great thing about Rock Band doing so much DLC is that they can do a huge variety of content, and not every song has to appeal to everyone. If you don't like this week's songs, just don't buy them and you'll probably get something you like soon enough.
That said, after listening to the songs, I think they're all good enough for $1 each to purchase. Not my favorite stuff, and I probably wouldn't listen to any of them on their own (except Dirty Little Secret is very catchy), but all five cost less than a burger meal from a fast food place, so it seems worth it to me.
Wubbytoes @ Dec 24th 2007 3:11PM
Every time I hear the All-American Rejects, I die a little bit inside.
aka Prof Chaos @ Dec 24th 2007 10:09PM
It could be worse... I turned the radio on while driving the other day and it was on a station my wife was listening to. The All American Rejects were on and it took every bit of my willpower to fight the natural urge to drive off of the road to end the pain.
scott @ Dec 24th 2007 3:14PM
Say what you want, "Dirty Little Secret" is a damn catchy song.
Trashman @ Dec 24th 2007 5:55PM
it is not. i have not liked them before, but now i have reason to not like them at all
Jason @ Dec 24th 2007 3:23PM
Can't wait till Avril Lavigne songs come out!
jk.
DCBlack @ Dec 24th 2007 3:26PM
I'm not big on the songs, but I like the price. I would like it if they took cover songs down 50 cents from master tracks. It's not that big a deal but I don't see how a master of Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" is equal price to a cover of "Jukebox Hero"
Oshi @ Dec 24th 2007 3:27PM
Hm. Ranking in how fun they sound to play, I'd rank them:
Song with a Mission
The Kill
Move Along
Dirty Little Secret
Attack
I've only got 320pts, unless more find their way to me tomorrow being christmas, so I'll skip on The Attack for now.
Blue_Falcon @ Dec 24th 2007 3:34PM
I was hoping for a Christmas song or a pack or something.
I would've loved to rock out to The Killer's recent single "Don't Shoot Me Santa." Or maybe something else.
Either way, $1 songs are always welcomed.
Kyera @ Dec 24th 2007 3:42PM
I wasn't sure what to think of these, but I gave 'em all a listen, and Attack and The Kill are the only ones I'm not really sure on. I'll probably get The Kill and hold off on Attack for a while.
Vidikron (FU) @ Dec 24th 2007 3:45PM
Yay! Let's all pretend to be e-trendy and hate on songs we actually listen to.
tmacairjordan87 @ Dec 24th 2007 5:22PM
believe it or not, not everyone actually likes shitty music
Paul @ Dec 24th 2007 3:46PM
I can't stand the All-American Rejects. I know a guy that quit the band before they became famous and is making music I can actually appreciate, and John Mayer liked enough to put on his myspace awhile back.

Fartbox Pro @ Dec 24th 2007 4:56PM
Yeah I listed to the Killer's before they were cool. Also my dad invented star wars, lives in a volcano, and is superman. No one cares about your lame name-dropping. Merry Christmas.
Paul @ Dec 26th 2007 2:13PM
Jesse Tabish, the lead singer of Kunek, was in the All-American Rejects several years back. He quit and started his own band. I goto OSU and have had the opportunity to see these guys develop and grow far beyond anything the rejects have done to date.

Thumbs up on The Sounds. Wish there was two of *those* songs on here...
Lard @ Dec 24th 2007 4:14PM
Wait a week for PS3, wait FOREVER in Canada!
Screw you EA!
Eric @ Dec 24th 2007 4:19PM
The sounds are fantastic.
epsilon343 @ Dec 24th 2007 4:34PM
These are some pretty good songs, hopefully I'll be able to pick this up after Christmas and download these.
Mike Davis @ Dec 24th 2007 4:58PM
Hoofa. No wonder they didn't publicize these songs in advance. Last week we got Radiohead, Weezer and The Pretenders. Now we get this? Maddone a mi.
tmacairjordan87 @ Dec 24th 2007 5:22PM
i may be asking for too much seeing as i got the game yesterday and just got the metallica pack today, but i could sure use another one of that quality. Or just about any 80s-early 90s metal would be good too. Too much terrible modern rock in the game
Trashman @ Dec 24th 2007 5:29PM
I didnt like AAR before, but now i have reason to not like them. my christmas is going to suck hard. i get rock band, yet no box cause of circuit city's funking warrenty bull crap where you have to send it in along with your HD so you lose all game saves and the send you a gift card where as they could refund it all to your credit card or give you a online gift card. word to the wise, dont get a warrenty at circuit city on a system. get one at best buy. i hate this
