Valve's Steam service is having a last-minute holiday sale from today until January 1, with everything on the online store reportedly 10% to 50% off. While all they have to do is make one game 50% and the rest 10% to make that statement valid, there are some good deals going on. Highlights include:

I had that once. I installed Vista (oh so crap) and realised it cut performance in games. Couldn't format it so I ended up having to format my whole drive which meant a Leopard reinstall too.
You might have to do that :(
But anything is worth it for Orange Box.

I bought the Orange Box again, even though I own it on 360 and Half Life 2 and Episode One on my computer just so I can download portal maps and play TF2 without all the freakin' lag! I thought paying 50$ a month for Xbox Live was to bring me a good service. Stalker for 20$ is also tempting.

Everyone raves about Psychonauts I'm thinking about trying it but I have one question. Does it control very well with a mouse and keyboard or would I need a gamepad?

A gamepad would be a fine idea. Psychonauts has functional mouse and keyboard controls, but many times you will find yourself frustrated when you wanted to do one thing, but messed up because you didn't have quite as much precision. The game was really designed with a gamepad in mind. I suggest one that has two shoulder buttons, like the ps2. If you have an xbox 360, you might want to invest in a wired controller, as it can be used with both the 360 and the pc via usb.

The Valve Store also has just put up a soundtrack to the Orange Box, and yes it includes "Still Alive" from Portal.

This is crap. I already have HL2, HL2:EP1 and I bought Portal alone. Even now the prices don't justify to buy only Episode 2 because it'll be much pricier than the Box combined, which I already bought for Xbox 360 (and loving it). No deal, Valve.

then just buy TF2 alone - you're not missing out by not purchasing EP2 on PC, its pretty much exactly the same, and TF2 is cheaper than $30 and well worth it to get rid of the lag problems on Live and get custom maps.
