Want to know what a "next-gen" (aka, "current gen," right?) DBZ game looks like? Well, here it is. Burst Limit, coming to Xbox 360 and PS3, looks like no other DBZ game before it. We're sad to admit, but this Japanese debut trailer has us pretty excited. The PS2 games before it did a good job of recreating the world of Goku and the gang, but the high-fidelity visuals of this new effort really bring a whole new sheen to the franchise. We don't know how it's going to play, but it's certainly an admirable revival for a series that's now decades old.

Holy crap that trailer was fucking phenomenal! That song was so epic. I will buy this game on day one if it has even the slightest chance of living up to that awesome trailer.

Looks entertaining. But why, when it said the two systems, was Playstation 3 in quotes?
It is ruining my gaming experience.

actually, I like the japanese voice better than the english one, they all sound utterly stupid in English...
to tell you the truth, I liked the Spanish voices better than even the Japanese ones, but only for THIS anime...

It's well known now that Joystiq edits the stories before they drop. So even though it has Andrew or someone else's name on it, they probably didn't write the whole thing verbatim.

How can you hate the japanese voice acting? What generation are you from?
Dubbed anime is garbage. They always make all the characters sound like their white people. (I know I'm going to get flamed for that one, but it's true. Just look at who they casted to play Son Goku in the live-action movie. Just Look at how far their taking it now)
I prefer my voices in japanese with english subtitles, but i know alot people who like english dubbed voices. (I can't understand why.)

look, i've watched anime in japanese in english subtitles, and liked it, and when they did the english voices thought it was retarded, but i just don't like how goku's voice is so high pitched in Japanese so it didn't interest me, i wasn't commenting on all japanese voices, i just didn't like this specific one.

hats off to Namco Bandai..
THIS is the way to hype a game, damn...surprisingly, even though I don't really like the series anymore (used to back on the ele school days) it still has one of the best soundtracks...
Is it only me that sees that the DBZ games franchise has a lot of potential? I mean, they could take more advantage of the open world factor of the games, like fights in cities and going through buildings and such....sigh, one can dream =(

I know this may sound silly to you, but some people like to understand what they are hearing when watching a movie or playing a game. Personally if the movie/game is subtitled, then im usually too busy reading and watching the scene to listen and pay attention to the voice actors anyway, and if thats the case they might as well remove the voice track and just leave the music and sound effects.

but then again, let's say there is this new guy in your class (work, w/e) and he doesn't speak english, yet he can write it...or, him having Britney Spears voice just for the sake of understanding what he is saying....

Holy shit, I completely agree with what #2 said! Just watching the trailer for this game makes me wishe I were a kid again coming home after school and watching some DBZ...I think this is the best looking translation from TV show to video game that I've seen in a DBZ game! And yes, that song that was playing was epic as hell.

i think they need to make dbz saga next gen im sick of just these fighting games im a huge dbz fan i loved sagas

I havent cared about DBZ for like 5 yrs but this brings me back. I didnt see anything in there past the frieza saga. i hope this is not like budikai part1 where you never get past SS1. Theres so many places DBZ can go series wise when/is it ever coming back. I wanna see SSPAN FTW!!!
Posted: Dec 27th 2007 9:39AM (Unverified) said
yeah, but honestly, freeza was the defacto bad guy in DBZ. and the emotion and excitment of goku making ss1 is unmatched by any other point in the series. i actully stopped watching after the android/cell saga because i knew quite clearly that no villin would ever top that little changeling. bodoki 1 was the reason i bought a ps2, but because it covered the most important part of the saga,.... and because the game play needed to make huge strides that it didnt, i never purchased another one.

For all the weeaboos saying dubs are bad, get a life, there are many dubs that are just as good as the japanese counterparts, and some that are better (Cowboy Bebop and Dragonball/Z spring to mind).
Ill admit some dubs are atrocious, and some slightly below average, but to say dubs are ALWAYS bad and are never better than the japanese is pathetic japanophile behaviour.
How on earth can you ever stomach gohan screaming "PICCORO-SANNNNNN" at about 500 decibels, some dubbing is fantastic and far better than its counterpart.
K, thx, bye.

I'm sorry, but English dubs (or dubs in general) are most of the times really bad, and more so for the 2 animes you mentioned....
Now if you were to give an example of how to do them well, then you should have mentioned Excel Saga

that looks great. i dont think the cell-shaded graphics are that big of leap from the series in its current form but those animations will be what makes this game. the animations look almost exactly like how the anime would do it. as a person who has played his fair share of DBZ games, this one has me excited about the series once again.
i just hope they dont try to cram every character that ever made an appearance on the show in as playable characters and focus on the main characters. i mean in Budokai Tenkaichi, using characters like Cell Jr. and Yajarobi are fun like once and then i go back to using Teen Gohan.
here's hoping this lives up to the trailer.

I hate the DBZ tv shows, nothing happens (especially with Danish voices). But I loved the books very much, and this game look freakin' awesome.

Yeah the cartoons were the worst crap ever aired. Episode 22: people grunting and sweating and charging up. TO BE CONTINUED! Episode 23: people grunting and sweating in front of a moving backdrop, someone finds a dragon ball. TO BE CONTINUED!

From the looks of things, I am most definately getting this. There better be online play too. Depending on the anime english dubbing can be good or horrible....and two prefect examples are in DBZ and Naruto. English Dub in DBZ is great....but its the most hiddious thing ever in Naruto (..."believe it!?"). I can only watch the Japanese version of Naruto with english subs. And Japanese voices are awesome in most games, especially fighting games and some action games. I really hope they cover all of the DBZ sagas.

Ghost in the Shell,Lupin the 3rd, Detective Conan, Transformers, and Full Metal Panic just to name a few. Keep in mind that I dont watch much anime, so im sure that there are plenty of other series out there with good english dubs.

i hope they have COMPLETELY destructible environments in this one, because i was a bit disappointed at tenkaichi since all you could destroy were the buildings...i wanted to completely obliterate the ENTIRE stage and turn it into a smoldering crater.

u could make it into a smoldering crater, u just had to use certain moves lol do u think u would be able to make ur own guy, that seems to be the biggest question right now
