Devil May Cry 4 Xbox 360 bundle hits Japan in January
Like a Nero to the PlayStation 3's Dante, the Xbox may be the new console to the Devil May Cry scene but it's not looking to play second fiddle. Just like the PS3, the Xbox 360 is getting a Devil May Cry 4 bundle in Japan when it's released this January. ¥37,800 (or about $330) nets you an HDMI-equipped console along with a copy of the game which, we're sure, is the one thing Japanese gamers have been waiting on before taking the Xbox plunge.

To Mr.P
What do you mean that MS is a copycat Sony is the one copying both Nintendo and MS. First of all Xbox came first with a hard drive, Online gameplay (not really Sega Dreamcast did) I mean the sucssess of gameplay "Xbox live".Second Nintendo's motion sensing remote control which I pretty sure that Nintendo came first with the idea but who cares Nintendo's motion sensing is by far better than the PS3.So why are you saying that MS is a copycat, Huh. First get your information right.I'm not a fan-boy I'm just saying the truth...
anthony @ Feb 9th 2008 8:05PM
wow thats stupid, it just goes to show you that Microsoft has no imagination and is coyping what ps3 is doing
Devil may cry 4 bundle + xbox360= pretty stupid
anthony @ Feb 9th 2008 8:08PM
wow thats really retarted, that just goes to show that
microsoft really isint creative and is desperate, they are already losing the mind game here
xbox360+dveil may cry 4 bundle+ trying to sell it in japan is = stupid, there wasing there money
Fox318 @ Dec 27th 2007 11:34AM
Here's my question:
Will people in Japan even care?
Akamaru @ Dec 27th 2007 11:38AM
Probably not but. But kudos to Microsoft for trying.
Mr.ESC @ Dec 27th 2007 11:42AM
"Get rich or die tryin".
I like this '08 new MS strategy for the Japanese market.
Mr. P @ Dec 27th 2007 2:06PM
They didn't care when Toriyama and Sakaguchi were involved, they sure as hell won't care about this. What I like about the Japanese is that they know what's going on. They see MS for the copycats they are. Sony and Nintendo are enough.
Mez Jr @ Dec 28th 2007 3:11PM
Mr P, what are you talking about? Copycat? Copy Nintendo and Sony? They have not really copied anything from Nintendo aside from actually producing a console.
The only real innovation Sony produced that MS is using would be putting games on disc media but that was pretty much a no-brainer, and using a console to play disc based movies.
Dude, competition and variety rules, being a fanboy, weak.
Shockgamer @ Dec 28th 2007 4:39PM
No, they won't...
But as long as X-Box remains relevant in the western world, Japanese developers and publishers will have little choice but to make games for it; and that's all that matters.
Akamaru @ Dec 27th 2007 11:41AM
$330 isn't bad at all. I so would get this if it came out over here.
Jerk Face @ Dec 27th 2007 11:43AM
Yeah, really!
Trev @ Dec 27th 2007 11:55AM
I would too, if I weren't set on getting DMC on PS3. A good pack-in game would sell me a 360 faster (Not a fan of Forza and M:UA got boring after the first play through so I traded it in.)
Pretty sure a free copy of Ace Combat 6 would do it.
itouchmyself @ Dec 27th 2007 11:52AM
Cut your losses MS and just focus on the states.
Willian @ Dec 27th 2007 11:57AM

Fernando Rocker @ Dec 27th 2007 11:54AM
What 360 SKU is the bundle?
fuliano626@psn @ Dec 27th 2007 12:13PM
a brand new sku hmm the should put devil may cry theme on the xbox
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Dec 27th 2007 2:57PM
I think he was asking if its a premium or a core.
jynxycat @ Dec 28th 2007 1:28PM
Fun fact, there is no such thing as a "premium" sku. It's just called the Xbox 360.
samfish @ Dec 27th 2007 12:00PM
I don't like the DMC series.
...it's such a shame, too, because it seems like it's completely right up my alley.
C'est la vie.
Christopher Grant @ Dec 27th 2007 12:11PM
Same. For whatever reason, I'm thoroughly bored/unimpressed/uninterested with DMC. Really, I could barely muster the interest to even write this response.
Neon Jebus @ Dec 27th 2007 12:22PM
Yes Mr. Grant I always figured you to be a Monster Rancher type. Kidding.
I enjoyed the first one but I just didn't seem to care about the others at all. It might be because Dynasty Warriors became my favorite button masher. Now I can't stand either.
Akamaru @ Dec 28th 2007 11:08AM
There is way more to DMC than button mashing. Maybe on "Easy" but anything higher than that you actually have to know a combo or two.
Also, guns.
pezman726 @ Dec 27th 2007 12:18PM
PS3 W/DMC ¥47,800 (approx. US $422)
360 W/DMC ¥37,800 (approx. US $330)
I don't know how price conscious people are in Japan, but if I were waiting for a console to play this one game on, (which I'm not because I got bored after the first one) I'd go for the one that was ¥1,000 cheaper.
Phranctoast @ Dec 27th 2007 12:21PM
the japanese 360 has been dirt cheap for a while now, even packaged with games the japanese would want. It doesnt make any difference.
fwacce @ Dec 27th 2007 12:35PM
You're forgetting that to the Japanese, it's well worth 1,000 more YEN to have a system that has games they want to play. To them, if they get the 360, then they didn't just save 1,000 YEN, they just spent 37,000 for just one game. That is the real waste, to the Japanese anyway.
DownwardMonkey @ Dec 27th 2007 12:37PM
...or maybe the version that reviewers are saying looks better and has no loading times.
That would be the PS3 version.
XanthouS @ Dec 27th 2007 1:30PM
To pre-empt the mindless nay-sayers:
http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/12/26/devil-may-cry-4-to-include-hard-drive-install-5-1-lpcm-audio-p/
"[T]he 1UP editors agree that the PS3 version looks and plays better than the 360 version."
"An optional hard drive install will supposedly remove all load times from the game."
ThornedVenom @ Dec 27th 2007 1:57PM
Is it just me who sees a price difference of 10,000 yen instead of 1,000?
When it's over nine thousand, it makes a HUGE difference.
pezman726 @ Dec 27th 2007 2:00PM
Yeah, it's definately 10,000 yen...missed a zero in there! I always do that!!! between that and my lysdexia, you should see the programs I code!!! :-D
hvnlysoldr @ Dec 27th 2007 2:25PM
WHAT!
OVER 9000!
Christmas NiGHTS @ Dec 27th 2007 2:40PM
Yeah, this seems to be another PS3-focused multiplatform title
But that original loading process (to eliminate future load times) is rumored to take 45 (!) minutes
HighFiveJesus @ Dec 27th 2007 3:39PM
Hey man, if people don't mind having it just sit there folding proteins for a good cause, i'm sure they can find SOMETHING to do for 45 minutes in their lives.
Count Noobula @ Dec 27th 2007 12:37PM
If I were Microsoft I would focus more on Europe than Japan.
Jerk Face @ Dec 27th 2007 1:53PM
Yep! I suppose it is important to try to break into the Japanese market, but Europe and the US are the big money makers for their system. Do recall, though, that they are already doing pretty damned well in both markets as it is.
chawboo @ Dec 27th 2007 12:49PM
Don't you mean 10,000 not 1,000? Maybe math works different in Japan, and I just don't know.
Cyro @ Dec 27th 2007 12:51PM
I dont really understand why Microsoft is wasting its time with Japs. They dont buy anything that is not Japanese. They should stop selling it all together in Japan and focus in Europe. There is so much more money in Europe than Japan.
Jason @ Dec 27th 2007 1:03PM
WW2 is over, you don't need to call them "Japs" anymore you red-neck piece of shit.
Noshino @ Dec 27th 2007 1:09PM
First, japanese do TEND to buy japanese products, but hey, if you see quality in a product, might it be from here or China, you'll buy it...
Actually, that was one of the main problems they had, they didn't have support from the Japanese dev studios...hence why Microsoft is putting most of their resources there...
Cyro, tell me the 10 most famous franchises...now, how many of them are japanese?
(Nothing against Europe, I actually love it...US, ugh)
vidGuy @ Dec 27th 2007 1:21PM
I'm as midwestern/White/American as they come and even I'm offended by cyro's use of that word.
Plus, what a fricking stereotype. Yeah, Japan is focused on Japanese products, but guess what? American products sell there too, as exhibited by the iPod and many other American-designed products.
samfish @ Dec 27th 2007 1:34PM
Between this and hating on gays, Cyro, you...may wanna reflect inward for a bit.
Just a bit of...friendly advice :)
Jerk Face @ Dec 27th 2007 1:54PM
Yeah, really man. That's two pretty offensive things two days in a row.
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 27th 2007 1:55PM
Wow give Cyro a break, he didnt use it in a bad way he was just trying to cut it down ppl.
jgurka @ Dec 27th 2007 2:38PM
I think it's outrageous that in this day and age if you call someone a "Jap" you're considered being racist and are in-turn called a "red-neck piece of shit." Which one of those statements actually incompassed hate? I'd have to go with the red-necked piece of shit. That would mean you are assuming he's of Caucasian decent and most likely American. No, you were trying to stand up for an oppressed minority, you weren't being racist! I don't consider anyone of Asian decent to be a minority, considering they make up more of the world's population than most other groups. I'm sick of everyones shit, MOST PEOPLE DON'T GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO BE RACIST. CYRO WASN'T BEING RACIST. RE5 ISN'T BEING RACIST WITH A WHITE PROTAGONIST! Some of you people need to get out of your houses more often and realize that we live in the real world, and calling someone a "Jap" for short isn't being racist. But what does it matter, you guys will probably just vote this post down to a half-star like every other post you don't agree with.
Christmas NiGHTS @ Dec 27th 2007 2:45PM
Remember, Cyro, that this is Microsoft's console strategy, they'll spend money and accumulate legacy. 360 is doing better than the original Xbox (by far). Their strategy is to waste money now to accumulate mindshare over time, they're getting positive responses for the right titles, they just need to net some top-quality exclusives, and the Japanese will respond. And more support in Japan is still critical to a console's overall success, as many of the best 3rd party franchises still come from there
Cyro @ Dec 27th 2007 2:56PM
Guys What the Hell?! I was just abbreviating the word for crying out loud. I did not mean it in a bad way! I have nothing Against the Japanese. I respect them quite a bit. You guys took it the wrong way.
PS: Im not a REd neck either. Im not even American.
Also About my comment on the Gay the other day. Im sorry if that made you angry but I was only kidding. I dont care about peoples sexual preferences. That doesn't change my opinion on a person. I am way above Racism just so you know.
Sorry if this is a double post, the reply system is kind of strange today.
Korova @ Dec 28th 2007 6:30AM
i didnt find anything offensive in the original post's intent. But i guess you never know where someone's sore spots can be.
RankHypocrisy @ Dec 28th 2007 9:33AM
What?! You shortened the word "Japanese" to "Jap"! Heresy! You have sinned against Holy Diversity!
We have zero tolerance for intolerance! If you don't treat everyone equally, we will single you out! If you don't love everyone, then we hate you!
Two minutes hate against Cyro starting now!
colinbell @ Dec 27th 2007 1:07PM
Well maybe its not that that the japs dont buy anything thats not Japanese - its just that they have a much higher regard for quality and a lasting product. And in their minds PS3 = Toyota, XBOX = GM / Ford.
They probably wouldnt be dumb enough to save 50-100 dolars for something that is far more likely to break, where you have to overpay for everything and, going by the XBOX1 experience, may not be around for more than 2-3 years.
Korova @ Dec 27th 2007 1:12PM
Xbox Japan is a promotional expense for MS. It adds a sexy association to Windows - and that is well worth keeping a toe jammed under a sake barrel.
Rimember, MS sells Windows, Office and Server software, its not a game company.
