I admire their fortitude, but Japanse consumers will still purchase the superior console (both graphically and dependability) bundled with the superior version of the game (HDD utilized to remove load times, 5.1 LPCM audio and according to 1UP the PS3 version plays and looks better than the 360 counterpart).

That or Japanese consumers will buy a Japanese product over a foreign one only because it's Japanese.

Hang on, I see a pattern emerging.

COD4 better on PS3
DMC4 considerably better on PS3
Burnout Paradise City, better on PS3....

COD4 was better on PS3? I was under the impression they were the same.

Replace it with UTIII - earlier release date, with mods and KB+M support. Oh, and throw in Oblivion (longer draw distances and better character models).

But, of course, your point is lost amongst memories of ... well, just about every other multi-platform game in existance.

@Hyams

So it's unimportant that a string of new AAA multi-platform games are better on the PS3 because the opposite was generally the case over the past year?

That seems a bit short-sighted.

XanthouS: My point (ineloquently expressed last time, apparently) is that there are still multi-platform games - big name titles, no less - that are being shoddily ported. The Orange Box comes to mind.

All the bad ports in the past just make things worse.

A few decent ports don't make up for the shitty one's we're still receiving, nor does it mean they're going to go away.

Does it signal a change? Perhaps. But the change isn't quickly coming; we're a year into the PS3's life (that's a whole tenth of its lifespan if Sony is to be believed) and most of its ports are still inferior to those found on a cheaper console.

Whichever console is the lead SKU for development will have the better version. CoD4, as mentioned by the other replies, was equal on both systems, but you can most likely replace it with UT3. Then again, who knows, UT3 could end up being a similar case to VF5 if Microsoft plays its cards right.

The two consoles are going to be trading off which has the better version until the next console generation. Just get one (or both) and enjoy the ride.

CoD 4 was equal on both systems...with the notable exceptions of reduction in texture quality and weaker online support.

Just sayin'.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised that Joystiq hasn't mentioned that DMC4 is apparently better on the PS3.

Surely this is bigger news than (yet another) buddle deal, one that (almost)/all the readers here won't benefit from in anyway?

Come on, Joystiq is an American blog, supporting American consoles. We all know how it works...

Post anything bad about PS3, however insignificant
Post everythinbg great about 360, however insignificant.
Ignore anything good about PS3
Ignore anything bad about 360.

Now days I don't see the bias the Joystiq writers expressed not too long ago. That's why I was confused.

BTW, don't cry Fernando :)

What's better is that this "news" sparked as many off-topic comments as it did.

It's a bundle, with a game. Whoopidy-doo.

If anyone actually watched the 1up Podcast, it was the article writer that actually thought the PS3 one was better, mainly for the controls. When he said this in the video preview, he had an argument with the other guys who were like "fuck, really? You thought so?"

How did one guy at 1up thought it played better turned into "THE ENTIRE 1UP STAFF THINKS PS3 VERSION IS BETTER" is beyond me.

Nice catch Sidepocket, when the reviews come in this should be settled. I could care less as I own both consoles but will prob get it for 360.

WTF are you talking about? I'm watching it right now. Here's a transcript:

A. We got to play it on both PS3 and 360, and the first thing I noticed, the PS3 version was much better.

B. Really?

A. You can tell this game is built for PS3, and is being moved over to 360. At least, that's the impression I got when I saw the footage, I thought that, right now, the PS3 version looks much better, and runs better than the 360 version. Like I saw a little screen tearing in the 360 version and even people who were playing it felt like it played better on the PS3.

B. That's what we've been hearing: that because of the bumpers on the triggers, the moves are easier to pull off on the dualshock 3.

A. I'm not saying the 360 version looks back at all, but when they were flicking through to show the different levels, I just felt that for Christmas over all, I would buy the PS3 version as of right now, unless I hear something different in time for the review.

B. (After talking about shoddy version of Lost Planet on PS3) That (DMC) looks almost the same on both systems, it's encouraging to see Capcom is getting next-gen deleopment really wrapped up.

----

That's all the say on the matter. Your claim that they were arguing over the subject is complete fanboi bullshit.

People hear what they want to hear indeed...

Yes they were arguing. The one guy thought they were the same graphically and one guy thought it looked better on the PS3.

Just because there is no yelling and screaming does not mean there was not an argument. If you disagree, you have an argument.

Oh, and it still does not mean that the entirely of 1Up does agree that the PS3 version looks/runs better.

You really need to learn how to pay the fuck attention and use that dust bunny that you call a brain.

An argument is an exchange of opinions, usually backed by supporting evidence.

'I think DMC4 looks better on PS3.'

'Really?'

'Yeah. Think it plays better too.'

'Yeah, I heard to plays better too.'

Is NOT an argument. An expression of surprise - 'Really?' - is NOT an argument.

The box art is nice. And yeah at least Microsoft is trying. I'll still think however that Sony and MS should've realeased these DMC4 bundles with special edition systems, like having dante and nero or something like that on the consoles.

Also (sorry, forgot to include this bit in my last post...):

You say that one thinks it looks better on the PS3, and the other thinks its equal on both system. This is simply not true.

One (I have him as A) says it looks better on the PS3, whilst the other (B) says that they're 'ALMOST the same' (emphasis mine), meaning that he too sees a difference.
