Orange Box game, soundtrack, on sale online and in-store this weekend

Maybe you've already got the game, but just can't get the sound of it out of your head. If so, consider the official soundtrack, on sale at Amazon in delicious un-DMRed MP3 format for the new low price of $7.99. if you're into just the hot new hit single "Still Alive," snag just that for $0.89. Oh, and speaking of "Still Alive" peep this recent interview with the mad scientist behind the song, Jonathan Coulton. Referring to his understanding of GLaDOS, Coulton says, "It helps that my own personal conflict resolution techniques rely heavily on passive-aggressive behavior."
Hey, us too! We expect Coulton to contribute some more video game tunes in the future -- at least if he wants us to keep writing about him.

DemonGSides @ Dec 28th 2007 8:00PM
Ugh, wrong comment. Goes below.
syco @ Dec 28th 2007 5:26PM
Okay. So having to install Amazon's widget in order to get the whole album in ridiculous.
I don't know if it's worth it. Does anyone know if this thing datamines you or what?
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 28th 2007 5:52PM
Or you can use LimeWire or download a torrent file, using LimeWire too.
=)
syco @ Dec 28th 2007 5:55PM
I allready have most of this in mp3. I actually want to pay for it.
Also Limewire is crap. Bittorrent ftw.
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 28th 2007 6:00PM
But the new LimeWire has a BitTorrent client... it's pretty good.
You have P2P and torrents in one application.
Peter Johnston @ Dec 28th 2007 6:09PM
Torrents are P2P you dumb bastard.
Einhanderkiller @ Dec 28th 2007 6:07PM
Ha, LimeWire.
syco @ Dec 28th 2007 6:11PM
I wouldn't use the Gnutella network again if you paid me.
DWells55 @ Dec 28th 2007 7:19PM
Private trackers and Usenet FTW?
Mr.ESC @ Dec 28th 2007 10:09PM
I don't know which is better
“Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free
You are all pirates!”
or
Zomg Hackers on steroids!
Seriously I don't know if Imesh ever counted as a torrent but I don't use that stuff anymore also you can pretty much hear any song in youtube…if you ignore the crappy Naruto AMVs
Jimiisama @ Dec 29th 2007 3:00PM
Anyone who uses Youtube to listen to songs or watch TV/movies has no taste for quality and deserves to be shot. You're the reason society is downgrading to terrible video and music quality.
Mr.ESC @ Dec 30th 2007 10:09PM
Jimiisama you are an idiot.
Seriously wtf? Unless you pay for it the quality won't be the best.
And you deserve to be shot you little piece of shit.
syco @ Dec 31st 2007 1:59AM
imeem > youtube for music purposes
There
Now everybody shut up and buy this.
It is worth money.
brandon @ Dec 28th 2007 5:30PM
Nice, the Jonathan Coulton version of Still Alive is also available. Will be picking up both versions from Amazon, I owe that much seeing how much I love JC's music.
ThornedVenom @ Dec 28th 2007 5:41PM
This was a triumph.
MasterInsan0 @ Dec 28th 2007 5:52PM
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
Mr.ESC @ Dec 28th 2007 10:03PM
Is hard to overstate my satisfaction.

NATO_Duke @ Dec 28th 2007 6:09PM
Save 10 it looks like:

Christopher Grant @ Dec 28th 2007 6:38PM
What about the PS3 and Xbox versions? As far as I can tell, there's no word yet.
Bellerophon @ Dec 28th 2007 6:26PM
For all those owners of the PC version and not in the know, Google a program called GCFScape. All the songs in the OST can be extracted from those .gcf files used in the games. If it weren't for my PC copy I wouldn't mind owning the OST - some damn fine music in there.
Zorink @ Dec 28th 2007 7:11PM
You beat me to it. I used GFCScape to get Still Alive after I beat Portal. Then I ripped the radio mix and set it as my ringtone.
roxxxo @ Dec 28th 2007 8:40PM
got a faq somewhere that shows which files to extract?
Myke @ Dec 28th 2007 6:38PM
That cd cover art should have been the model for the Orange Box itself, that looks 100X better than the lame "I'm a target 50-game-in-one compilation" boxart that they decided to go with.
embassy @ Dec 28th 2007 6:43PM
so i checked to see if this was on the zune marketplace..no luck...i also checked mass effect...it popped up....has all the track info...but its "not available"..out of curiousity i typed "halo 3"..the OST popped up..all the track listings..but again, its "not available"...halo 3, micrsoft's cash cow, is *not* available on the zune marketplace. hilarious.
ronald.raygun @ Dec 28th 2007 7:16PM
zune's suck got one for christmas and couldnt get the bastard to sync with vista. I think I had to d/l some retarded update to get it to work. I want the creative vision m
embassy @ Dec 28th 2007 7:49PM
gotta disagree..the zunes pretty dope..and im using it with vista...the interface is slick...im rockin the old zune 30 though..so maybe theres a diff with the new ones? no clue.
Odog4ever @ Dec 28th 2007 11:33PM
The Zune doesn't suck. Vista does suck however. I think that's the general consensus now.
Been rocking my Zune 30 for about a month and love it. I wanted something with a decent sized screen to watch video on, that didn't cost $400. (Also my entire music collection was already ripped inta WMA and I'm not in love with iTunes at all)
It is funny that the Halo music is not available on the Zune market place... I'll have to check that when I get home.
ssuk @ Dec 29th 2007 10:47AM
VISTA SUCKS. AM I COOL YET?
Hermes @ Dec 28th 2007 7:14PM
yea, i dont think the console version is discounted.
darn.
roxxxo @ Dec 28th 2007 8:39PM
why not get the pc version? you can get user-made maps for portal
DemonGSides @ Dec 29th 2007 12:30AM
Because not everyone's computer can run it, or they have laptops because they are convenient, non-gaming rigs.
Which is my case.
roxxxo @ Dec 29th 2007 1:50AM
your comp cant run source engine? it came out 4 years ago and even then wasn't bleeding edge
ssuk @ Dec 29th 2007 10:45AM
roxxxo, you must be a pretty thick person. You try running Portal on a 1.5Ghz 512MB RAM Internal graphics laptop and get 20FPS. You wont. So shut the fuck up and get the fuck off.
Mr.ESC @ Dec 28th 2007 10:01PM
I will buy it..right after I get my Portal T-shirt and Team fortress posters.
Well I'm glad I didn't order those Portal Christmas cards, totally useless by now nonetheless still cool but totally Über worthless by now.
Also the plushie but I really want to now if there are going to be more of those headcrab hats in stock, those are great.
ssuk @ Dec 29th 2007 10:43AM
I wish Nintendo would break their habits and release a bloody Mario Galaxy OST. I like alt-orchestrated music and Mario Galaxy has a few nice tracks.
Donald @ Dec 29th 2007 11:51AM
You mean bring it to the US. They did release it on Club Nintendo in Japan.
Korova @ Dec 29th 2007 11:26AM
OBox is supergood. I love TF2, just wish they would patch up the network crap out on XBL.
Luke @ Dec 29th 2007 12:33PM
Anyone see a console version yet? I also cruised around to other sites and no one has the console version on the cheap. I only want this for portal and can't justify $60 for only that :(
jackgreene @ Dec 29th 2007 12:47PM
Starting Sunday at Best Buy, The Orange Box will be $40, all versions (360, PS3, PC). It's in their weekend ad.
zerok @ Dec 30th 2007 6:09PM
Now I guess I just have to wait until this also becomes available outside of the US :-/
