Stupid Hollywood. They don't realize that consumers have a ba-zillion more entertainment options then we did even 10 years ago and an extensive strike will keep a ton of people from ever coming back to commercial filled network TV.

I'd be disappointed not to have Heroes, Lost, or 24, but I'll be just fine as long as I have Mass Effect. :)

That's why i think the networks will cave before the writers do, the possibility that people just turn to PC webisodes (i mean SuperDeluxe.com could replace all of what Adult Swim does in one sitting, and there are many other such sites), video games, and their netflix accounts could devastate them

I have my recorder set up to record new stuff, so I don't watch much TV these days.

Anyway, why is this a good thing? Every single show will be either a rag-tag group of youths with swords saving the world from a great evil or shallow plot points involving hell, Mars or some other generic evil force as an excuse to shoot everything that moves.

I'm definitely missing How I Met Your Mother and the Office. I would say I'm missing Lost, but technically it wouldn't have started by now anyway. I'm getting by with Super Mario Galaxy and Freaks and Geeks on DVD.

Shit even before the Writers strike there was so much garbage on t.v. that I had to stop watching.

Only shows I watch are:
Heroes
Dexter
Chowder
Law and Order: SVU
Weeds
Pushing Daisies.
And I either stream or torrent them.

Tina Fey youve got to be kidding me. WAH WAH. Shut up you bastards most of us work shit jobs and can barely afford to get by. Most of the shows these people write are trash. WAH!

"Have you been playing more games due to the the deluge of reruns?"

No, there was hardly anything worthwhile on TV *before* the strike. So they can stay on strike forever, for all I care - it's not like they were all that great anyway. But, then again, at least their presence had prevented "Kenny vs Spenny" from getting greenlighted. If I see another show like that I might actually start missing those striking hacks.

While I do support the writers guild of America, it really pisses me off to no end that there's not gonna be a season 7 of "24" until 2009, at the very least...

I watch tons of tv thanks to TiVo and a job that lets me work from home, but even with all that entertainment lost the only show I'm REALLY missing is The Big Bang Theory. I hope we get a few more seasons of that, it's the funniest show since Scrubs.

Bah, hopefully they'll fix the DVD release of season 2 Heroes. I still didn't watch that much television so I haven't been playing more.

What strikes me as odd :

They are out on the streets, on a strike, holding banners. And what to the banners say? "On strike".

Like, WTF, that's kinda obvious. You're supposed to write something clever and punchy on those banners.

You are writers, for god sake!

It makes me wonder: If sign-makers go on strike, do they write anything on their signs?

Just because people are outside picketing doesn't necessarily mean that they are on strike. They could be protesting, so signs are needed to distinguish between the various types of picketing. Even though it IS a form of protesting, it is still a strike to be exact.

And yes, there's the golden joke that "The Writers feel so strongly about their strike that their signs are blank".

Since (almost) all network television is shit anyway, no, it's not really made a difference. The only things worth watching were Heroes, Journeyman, and Chuck, and one of those isn't coming back.

I'd have liked if Prison Break wasn't stopped midway through season 3 but except for that no huge worries. Season 1 of Heroes just finished in UK anyway so that wasn't going to be on for a little while anyway.

I've got little time now for tv and for gaming (hence why the DS gets me by and don't have many Wii games) so only time I could watch tv was weekends, where I'd have Heroes, Prison Break and Top Gear for Friday night and that was all I wanted. During the week I had an hour of Srcubs every day on tv while I was eating, and that was basically all I needed. Mostly crap on tv anyway tbh.

The only major problem will be if it stops season 7 of Scrubs and delays Lost, Prison Break and Heroes.

Prison Break was never delayed. The mid-season finale was planned and it will be back in two weeks. Heroes, however, will not for the time being.

Remember that Episode of The Simpsons where the kids of Springfield stopped watching TV and they found new ways to entertain themselves by playing outside. That was a good episode.

Man that was good times!

i play my games way more than i watch TV. there are only a couple things i watch on TV anyway (Scrubs, Heroes, Southpark, The Boondocks, NFL and NBA). so since the writers strike has ended the majority of those shows i mentioned, i guess i do play games a little more now than before the strike but i always played games more than watch TV anyway.

oh and for the record, Heroes Season 2 didnt happen imho.....

I don't like Tina Fey. I think she is a talentless opportunistic piece of shit. Of course, the talentless opportunistic pieces of shit are going to bitch the loudest in a situation like this. Just look at the "artists" in the music industry that screamed the loudest about people "illegally" downloading their "music" in the early days of mp3s.

Hasn't got me down since I only watch good TV. Sure it means I only get about 3 hours worth of TV a week. I'm like that with games now - only buy the best.

It's such a shame that while we have a MAJORITY of crappy shows here, we can just go on the internet and watch fansubbed anime like Code Geass and Hayate No Gotoku; Or just watch an episode of Family Guy or The Boondocks.

I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat I am. I don't bother with having cable or even hooking my the antenna for local channels. When I want to watch a show, I just Netflix the DVD's.
