I returned Halo 3 to get COD4. To me after the story was finished and 30 or so online games was played, I found it to be boring and just like Halo 2.

We have the same phenominon at my house with Bioshock. My brother-in-law and I started taking turns playing through it this weekend, and my wife watched us play the whole time. And when you weren't the one playing, it was just as fun.
Now that is crazy-awesome game design.

although the multiplayer aspect of halo3 & cod4 causes it to gain more hours in my 360. GOTY for me is easily Mass Effect. I can't get my gf to watch me play a game for more then 10 minutes but she is quick to pick up the DS so I'll settle for that.

...and maybe I'll attempt Overlord again, there were just so many good games that came out at that time I didn't get to deep into it.

I was recently asked on a Job application what my 3 favorite games of all time are. I listed Portal because in many ways it was a perfect game. I haven't had an experience like it in such a long time (or perhaps ever). The totally new gameplay mechanic, the dark and hilarious (and Classically 3 part story), the amazing ending song, I just hope it's inevitable sequel doesnt ruin how great the original is.

I agree with the Bioshock's award. I've had some people watch me play it as well and they always wanted to see what would happen next. It's a great story.

I disagree... The game is fun no matter what you're doing. And the amount of players who are dedicated to it really make some of the Matchmade games intense.

Not for me. I don't care if it was Halo 2.5. Halo 2.5 is still dope.

I'm really digging Mass Effect. I don't know if it's GOTY, but I'm on playthrough number 4 right now, and I just got it on Christmas, so it can't be too terrible.

Richard- My wife had the opposite reaction. Though she found Bioshock really interesting, I wasn't allowed to play until she was in bed and I had headphones on. It was just TOO creepy for her.

Now Mario Galaxy on the other hand, she'll shoot up some starbits any night of the week!

I cant believe as Xbox360 fanboys we are forgetting GTA4 as one of the most anticipated games of 2008. Also on my list are Age of Conan:Hyborian Adventures, Alan Wake and Fable 2(the last two only have tentative schedules for 2008)

Another great great game which is flying pretty much under the radar right now for 2008 is Tom Clancy's:End War which has voice controls!!! thats like the best way to control in RTS games. I can not wait for the online games in that one.

Also, Mass Effect rocks and is fun as hell except for the elevator riding which just pisses me off!!

I just picked up Katamari. I was shocked how the game is actually pretty hard. It took me a dozen tries just to beat the first level. I was expecting a chilled-out kiddie pseudo-game. Not so much. That King of All Cosmos is one hard to please mofo.

I am no Fanboy, but how can you vote on 2007's best games if you haven't played Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect yet? The former may win the "biggest disappointment or how to mix great style with 80s mission design award" and the latter... well, it's just a fecking great game.

My girlfriend's the opposite on the Significant Other awards. BioShock is too creepy for her, and Katamari is too simplistic.

I totally agree with your choice of Portal, but I have to say that summing up your top picks for 2007 without playing Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect seem a bit premature, regardless of year-end deadlines.

Deadlines have nothing to do with it, really. It's not like we just get a torrent of free games around here. I honestly just didn't have the money or time to give Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed any play time.

I loved Portal (finished it yesterday) and it should AT LEAST get 'Best Game Ending 2007' for that song. Absolute genius!
