Xbox 360 = Fantastic Console... when it's working.

Mine broke during the Halo 3 beta just when I was getting in to it. I jsut played through Jade Empire on PC during the repair but I missed most of the Beta. Anyone I know who has a 360 has had it RRod at least once (one of them twice). My gaming PC has gone to the shop 3 times. I wonder if my console will be repaired more than that. PS3 may not have the best exsclusive games (right now at least) but they sure make quality consoles. I have a PS2 bought a year after it's release and it's still chugging along, absolutley no problems (then of course my firend went through 2 PS2s during the time).

im on my second 360 which ive had for 2 weeks and im taking it back to the shop tommorrow!!!

im in my 30's and im careful and the machine has got an entire desk to itself and is unlikely to be caused overheating as its not played that much, so, i have not caused this damage myself, nor do i run around my house like a mindless idiot so why do two discs now have complete circle scrathes and are unplayable/unreadable?

yes i agree the game play itself is great but with games costing up to £50 a time just to be ruined whats the point? ive definitely lost confidence in this product and seems a lot of hassle and is costly too,

I bought my son an Xbox 360 elite for Christmas and with less than 3 weeks of play we’ve had 2 fail.

When I do a search for Xbox failures I find it’s been an issue since the Xbox was released with no definitive fix from Microsoft. 3% failure rate? Not a chance. What I don’t understand is how they keep selling them without fixing the issues. I know it would be a substantial cost to fix but I’d bet the cost would still be less than the ongoing costs they are facing with the current status quo. As far as their handling of it goes they say it’s how they handle it when it fails that counts. In the beginning he is correct but after years the consumer better see a change or that’s not going to cut it. You can’t produce hardware by the same rules as software, it costs much more to fix. I’d be surprised if some enterprising attorney didn’t file some sort of a class action suit.

Ours was purchased at Best Buy and I’m glad we purchased the replacement warranty that says if they don’t have one to swap they will give your money back. Well guess what? We’ve been checking for the last week since it died and they don’t have one to swap. From the Best Buy employee it seems they have been returning them at the rate of “at least” 5 per day and the supply can’t keep up with the failure rate much less keep any in stock to sell. Even the employees there that own Xboxes are starting to recommend the PS3. We’ll be returning this for the refund and won’t be buying another Xbox.

I’m really glad that Blu-ray is doing well since this experience has cemented my opinion of Microsoft. I was taking a wait and see on view the format war and almost bought myself an HD DVD player but after this I can guarantee I will only buy a Microsoft or Microsoft backed product when given no other option.

I wonder if Microsoft realizes how much not fixing the issue is really costing them?
