Stop-motion Tetris is people! It's made out of people!
From the fine French folks who brought you Stop-Motion Space Invaders With People comes Stop-Motion Tetris With People. Let's compare stats: 4 hours to shoot Space Invaders, 4-1/2 for Tetris; 67 participants for Space Invaders, 88 for Tetris; 390 images for Space Invaders, 880 for Tetris; a roughly 2 minute finished product for Space Invaders, and a just over 2-1/2 minute video for Tetris.
Now, we're not mathologists, but that sounds to us like they've managed to cram even more fun into their videos. And that's one metric system we're a-ok with.

Pretty cool, and I can definitely appreciate the artistic value, but I'll take Mega64 over any other form of video game parody, hands-down.
Dustin @ Jan 1st 2008 4:38PM
Crap, I forgot to ask... is the headline a reference to Soylent Green?
Very clever! I see what you did there.
Victor @ Jan 1st 2008 4:40PM
that's crazy :O
really cool
Ramifications @ Jan 2nd 2008 4:51AM
It would have been cooler if the French didn't suck at Tetris so much. Man...whoever is playing sucks...alot.
Wickedneoq @ Jan 1st 2008 4:41PM
I claim fail. Some of those people fall too far after lines are created. There should be one that sorta floats, and instead he keeps moving down.
Sorry, it's obvious if you've ever played Tetris. Hate to kill the beauty of it.
Jansperus @ Jan 1st 2008 5:56PM
I was about to comment on that too. That totally ruined it for me. Besides that though, it was pretty cool.
Dave @ Jan 1st 2008 5:15PM
Yeah. That white t-shirt guy at 1:11 killed me, too.
I understand that it would go on forever if the 'player' was good, but the player was awful. Not a single tetris.
Also, their field is 2 columns too narrow.
Seroth @ Jan 1st 2008 5:40PM
Haha, yeah. I noticed that, too. Still, a neat video.
playwhutyalike (hates games lists) @ Jan 1st 2008 6:23PM
Oh no, my day is totally ruined too! This thing fails all over the place. It's okay, because my mommy and daddy will buy me something later to make it all better.

There are SOME variants of Tetris that feature "gravity" (that is to say, broken pieces fall to the bottom of the well). Not a traditional feature, but it is possible.
The original Game Boy version had a smaller well, too. Traditionally, the well is 10x20, but the GB one was 10x18. It's not unthinkable for a 8x12 well, either.
Saria the Cat @ Jan 2nd 2008 2:10AM
Wow, how can you say this whole video fails due to one exaggerated gravity mistake? Besides, there are plenty of Tetris versions that include gravity.
Wickedneoq @ Jan 2nd 2008 6:06AM
I claimed fail, don't shoot the messenger. Call me a purist, I've played many variants, but TETRIS is TETRIS. Only the official will do.
kip @ Jan 2nd 2008 11:02AM
Even if the guy sucked, he should have at least gotten one tetris to make the video worth watching.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 1st 2008 4:47PM
You guys posted this video before.
Christopher Grant @ Jan 1st 2008 4:58PM
The Tetris one? It was only posted on their site on Dec. 6th and we've got nothing on it under our Tetris tag: http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tetris/
LaughingTarget @ Jan 1st 2008 5:02PM
Really? I swear I saw this back in early '05 here.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 1st 2008 5:09PM
Just as a note, I'm fairly insulated from things like this. I don't surf the web but go directly where I'd like to go. You could say I'm not much of a window shopper. If I saw it before, and it's gaming related, it likely came from here. That is my actual reasoning. If I'm wrong, many apologies.
Danny @ Jan 1st 2008 5:10PM
You probably saw the Space Invaders one.
jopojelly @ Jan 1st 2008 5:08PM
I'm pretty sure I've seen it here before too....
unfriendly_cat @ Jan 1st 2008 5:09PM
Check the first comment in the Space Invaders thread.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 1st 2008 5:14PM
That could be it, it was done in a movie theater, too, right?
MR @ Jan 1st 2008 5:20PM
Must've been created by a lousy tetris player.
blehh @ Jan 1st 2008 5:34PM
Leela: "There is already a soda like that. It's called Soylent Cola."
Fry: "So, how does it taste?"
Leela: "It varies from person to person."

christ am i the only one who thinks this video is awesome..... such a nice idea done really well.... and may i just point out that there was no player....... its a video....
Crazylink @ Jan 1st 2008 7:24PM
They're not very good at Tetris, are they?
Ghen @ Jan 2nd 2008 8:39AM
To all the haters thinking that the 'player' isn't very good at tetris...
ITS NOT THE GAME. They could have made it a perfect tetris player, they have all the time in the world and they tell each piece where to sit. Heck, they could cheat if they wanted to; but no, they made an enjoyable video with its ups and downs, disappointments and cheers of victory.
If they had made it a perfect game all you haters would cry foul and ask them to do it on the real game anyway to 'prove' themselves.
Ryan @ Jan 1st 2008 10:06PM
I always thought it would be cool to do one on guitar hero. have everyone's shirt change to light blue when the star thingy fills up.
Ghen @ Jan 2nd 2008 8:40AM
Thats a good idea, and it would take less people too ;)
ogvor @ Jan 2nd 2008 12:23AM
Great vid, I especially appreciated the human soundtrack and f/x. They could have added a "score" with some people holding posters or something and some people have mentioned that the people sometimes fell to far, but it's still a great vid, and besides I'll take Tetris over space invaders any day.
superaktieboy @ Jan 2nd 2008 4:19AM
HOLY CRAP.. IT'S ALIVE xD
thats just awesome :O
