Halo stalker arrested after making 2,600 mile trip

A 20-year old male was arrested in Spokane, Washington this past weekend for stalking a 15-year old girl he met online playing Halo (the report does not specify which iteration). The accused was from Saratoga Springs, New York, which means by our estimations he drove around 2,600 miles in order to drive past the girl's house and send her a text message.

According to Seattle news outlet KOMO-TV, the parents of the girl caught his license plate number as he passed and called the police. He has been charged with a felony count of stalking. Let this be yet another warning to all online gamers out there: don't give out your personal information, including where you live and your phone number.

Oh gaad fellas, that Speddy comment just made me create an account. I don't know what kind of absolute tool you have to be to apply the 'well she maybe lied about her age', and the victim is to blame mentality. Sorry if I misquoted you, you're an idiot and it doesn't matter. Give me a break. I used to volunteer and do internships that did courtroom monitoring for domestic and sexual abuse issues, I'm too well aware of how things like this go. The guy is a loon, and the friggin videogame was merely the vehicle (but of a pun, I suppose what with the graphic and all). I hope Halo 3 or Xbox Live doesn't catch too much dumbass media getting all over it with hairbrained rhetoric.

That aside, Halo 3 is pretty super high technical schweet, and I've spent way too much time online getting roasted to be more than 6 hours into campaign since I got it on launch day.

Proof that Xbox Live is not just full of spotty 11yr old kids insulting each other. It's also full of stalkers.

I have a question just for you. I really love watching datelines, "To Catch A Predator", but I always thought that even though what they are doing is morally right(and funny as hell) that it may be illegal under current entrapment laws. I mean, drug stings are illegal unless they actually sell drugs to the buyer. Same thing with cops posing a hookers. Money has to be exchanged for the bust to be made legally. So technically, unless someone is willing let their young son or daughter get to 3rd base with these guys, it's illegal. Like I said, I love the show and think those guys deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. But is the current method legal or just good old fashioned vigilantism?

At least that's the way they explained it. Now, onto the case. Seems she really should have kept her personal information for herself. She's lucky were still talking about a living girl. If ther's anything that pisses me of, it's children being victims of these things.

Well I mean the best evidence that it's legal, and not entrapment is that it's on TV. Entrapment doesn't carry a really liberal interpretation so the situation would likely have to meet some strict criteria to really be called that.
