I did it, it's pretty neat but my friends couldnt hear me all to well, but I could hear them perfectly fine!
Took me about 7 minutes to do too :)

No; as long as you can play a DS game online, your DS will access info from your computer and will allow you to call any phone number. You do not need a phone or phone number of your own.

I would trade one device I pay for, to make calls, with multiple devices that let me communicate for free.

It's a trade off, and I'd put a little more effort in having free phone privileges at home on my PC, and on my DS Lite when I'm out 'n about.

To me, it's like writing a book. You put in a lot of work in the beginning, and benefit in the long run.
