An Austrian retail website created a listing for Crysis stating it's coming to Xbox 360 this November. Given the lackluster state of Crysis' sales on the PC it wouldn't be a shock if the game went multi-platform, but this is the first time a snippet of evidence – even an admittedly unreliable retail listing – has entered the channel.
There's currently no PS3 listing on the Austrian website (and we'll spare you the effortless Wii joke) but it'll definitely make for some interesting comparison videos if we get to see the 360 version of Crysis running side-by-side with the demanding PC release.

Jeff, BUT it would be funny if it was making your 360 work so hard that it red rings it. ;)

well, good news bad news. Bad news, it wont be coming to the wii. Good news is, if you're patient you can play it on a nintendo console in 20 years when their hardware catches up.
But then you have to dodge the problem of them putting an actual M rated game on the system. However it'll be an old port by then (ala Resident Evil 4) so maybe they will do it.
and yes i know your comment was sarcastic, but i couldn't resist the bait

You do realize that Resident Evil 4 started on a Nintendo platform, right?
Nintendo isn't shy about M-rated titles, it's just that they don't get many because most developers hate them for their "you must use our new technology or you can't make a game for us" attitude.
Nintendo makes some good stuff, but they're complete pricks, which is why they lost so much developer support in the N64 era.

Nintendo doesn't demand use of all the tech. There are DS games that don't have much use for the touch screen or use the mic and not all Wii games in the near future will be waggle-enabled. We're seeing this because it is the new thing, and like all new things, it will get driven into the ground until designers can figure it out. The DS was the same way up front. I'd say the Sony "I don't care if your game is under 8 gigs, use BluRay" stance is a bit more difficult.
Also, if all the tech isn't used, your game tends to get left behind (there are exceptions).

Yes and no. While it's true that developer's aren't forced to use waggle controls, it's also true that the Wiimote can't really do traditional controls. Want to make a shooter with dual-analog sticks? Too bad says Nintendo, we don't want to make that an option, despite it being the standard for everything for the last 5 years or so.
Nintendo didn't care when developers wanted CD technology for the N64, didn't care when developers wanted DVD technology for the Cube, and don't much care about what developers want now. You'll work with what Nintendo sees fit to give you or you won't make games for Nintendo. Ever since the N64, we've been seeing alot of developers take option B.

By the way, I agree with you about Sony doing the same thing with Blu-ray. They're acting like pricks just like Nintendo and we're seeing them lose developers now, also just like Nintendo.

now thats something new and exciting for Xbox fans.

The lesson in this is to be careful what you name your game because sometimes it is prophetic. Crysis and Duke Nukem Forever are two of the most unfortunately named games in recent memory.

Well not surprising they need the money and Xbox360 is the system for FPS games. So I can totally see this happening.

FPS? Super soldier? Aliens? Dial tone?
Posted: Jan 3rd 2008 4:49PM (Unverified) said
I would Totally buy this in a heart beat. Super Soldier ? Aliens ? Awsome! I would think that more than half the people that bought Halo 3 would buy this.

You know, if they made the FOV 75, like Halo, instead of 90 like most PC FPS games and the Crysis default, it'd probably give a decent performance boost for no loss in image quality...
I want to see this happen.

I seem to recall hearing from the developers that no console could handle Crysis, which is why they had only planned on released it for the PC.
People complain about having to buy a new computer just to play this game. My computer isn't anything special and I had no problem running this game or UT3.

Buy any decent computer this year, pop in a $250 videocard and you can max any game on the market (bar Crysis) at around 60 FPS. (In Crysis you'd get an, ironically, console-tastic 30 FPS)
People just like to put PC gaming down. If you're already looking for a computer, it's the cheapest way to game. Obviously if you only want to use your Windows 98 PC to get on the internet and type stuff, power to you; then you can look at a gaming PC as OMG ONE-THOUSAND DOLLARS! And consoles as an amazing deal.

True, PC gaming is cheap as long as people keep buying computers for other purposes. But considering that all of the current consoles now have internet browsers and either have keyboards or are working on them, it won't be terribly long before Microsoft throws in Microsoft Office: Xbox Edition and everyone gradually has the realization that they don't really need a computer anymore.
Granted, there will be PC users around for other products such as Adobe and whatnot, but PC demand will see a large drop once consoles have the following features:
Internet
E-mail
Word Processor of some sort
Printer and scanner drivers
If you use Yahoo or any other web-based E-mail, that's two checkmarks already, and considering that I have my work computer for word processing needs, there's a decent chance that I'll never buy a computer again.

Consoles lack:
Word processors
Spreadsheets
Database support
Open system for whatever the hell you want to use on it
Media backup capabilities (ie CD burning)
Fluid, upgradeable web browsers (no casual games people love)
Consoles are a long, long ways off from even being close to a PC in functionality.

Yes, but database support and open system aren't things that everyone needs. I'm not claiming that consoles will replace computers, just saying that for many people (including myself) consoles do 95% of everything I use my computer for. CD burning is a good point and of course the browsers can - and will - get better, but those are extremely minor things that any of the big three could fix within the next console generation if - and this is the important part - they decide to.
I think many of the things we've talked about Microsoft will probably at least attempt in the next generation or two. Sony may or may not. Nintendo probably won't anytime soon.

I am having mixed feelings about this rumor. I dont have a 360, but 90% of my friends do. They get every good game, and so do I (pc) but Crysis is the only exclusive I have currently (thats good.)
If It goes to the 360, all my friends would rather go home and play it on their 360's rather than come over to my house and play it.
Im not trying to be selfish or Obnoxious, I just would rather it stay as a pc game only.

Crysis was one of the biggest disappointments of 2007. It looked great, but otherwise it certainly felt like I was on rails, forced down the same path with almost no variation. I had no urge to play the game a second time either, especially after the way the game ended.

no wai man, the ending was great, it only means that there is going to be more!
Have to agree with the rails factor though.

On rails ?
Maybe the last level or two.
Any portion of the game with the Koreans was 100% open ended. You could swim to locations, walk, drive around, stealth or action, complete side objectives, ignore them. During those jungle outdoor levels, it was anything but on rails.
The later few levels were linear, but once you play them, you understand why.

It was absolutely on rails after you leave the ocean, which is basically from the Korean Destroyer onward.
Heck, one point in the game I managed to get up on a side ledge which would allow me to move around an ambush and I was greeted with the Battlefield "You have left the gaming area and will be killed in 3 seconds" bs.
Not to mention that the entire portion of the game after the Koreans was tedious.
I've got a buddy that's played through the beginning of the game 3 times. Whenever he gets to the temple he starts over.

Given the amount of piracy of the PC version, it seems like the only way to recover costs is to release a console version.

I think the reason this game got pirated so much was just morbid curiosity from people who wanted to see if it'd run on their system. (?)

Enough said.
Anyway, I you really want to play a game, play it on the platform it was meant for. We all know how previous Far Cry ports compared to the original, and I hope Crytek won't waste their talent developping some kind of Crysis Instincts for console.
