Ubisoft announces Far Cry 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3
Similar to spotting a remote outpost far off in the African savanna, we could've spotted this announcement ... oh, nearly six months ago when they first announced the game. Nevertheless, Le Ubisoft today announced that their upcoming FPS, Far Cry 2 – full of all sorts of procedurally generated goodies – will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles as well as the originally targeted PC platform.
When we spoke with Ubisoft Montreal's creative director, the lovely and talented Clint Hocking, about the possibility of console ports at PAX, he told us, "Our mandate ... was to make Ubisoft a top-tier PC game. That's my mandate, that's what I'm doing. It's obviously Ubisoft's business if they want to do a console version." He elaborated, "The engine is not alien to a console environment just because we have the expertise." So now, Ubi is taking advantage of said expertise to bring the game to consoles. While it's unclear if all three versions will ship simultaneously, the console ports will also ship in Ubi's 08-09 fiscal year, which runs April through March.

If that's your thing just sit close to your TV.

I think you read "expertise" as "experience".

And regarding piracy being only on PCs - well ask Sega, was the Dreamcast the most pirated gaming platform ever?

One of the best online games for the original Xbox. Had a great map-maker and better online than it's PC counterpart. It's incredible they even got the game running on the Xbox. I can remember loggin countless hours with the game. The 360 port though was just a shameless cash-in.
Farcry on the Original Xbox I didn't play much of it but still was ugly as hell compared to the PC version.
...unlike Crysis which was just mainly pretty.

Most people bashing the game only repeat what other said, or pirated the game with a preset opinion.
Crysis is a fantastic game. It would help if you actually played the game before forming an opinion.
And no, pirating it for your Pentium 2 doesn't mean you played it.
I replayed the game recently using my 360 controller and it was a wonderful experience. When it comes out for 360, hopefully with full Live integration for multiplayer, it will be the favorite game for a lot of you. =)

Nothing definite, but there's a rumor for you.
As a PC gamer, you might think I'd consider this bad news... but that's not the case at all. I understand that for games to be financially viable, as long as it's not an MMO or something, it pretty much needs to be available on consoles. As long as developers optimize properly for PC, making use of our great hardware (generally by including higher-res textures, antialiasing options and other special effects), redo the UI and fonts to suit a PC, and make sure the game plays well with keyboard and mouse.... then I'm still happy. I'll be playing it at a high-resolution, with keyboard and mouse, at higher FPS, with the potential for mods. That's all I really require of PC gaming.
As long as it doesn't suffer from 'consolization', which generally is just slang for developer laziness, I'm fine with multiplatform versions. But when developers leave a UI meant to be used on a TV, with a controller... not on monitor with a keyboard... things get annoying.
