Haven't listened to this yet, but I have a question about the show that's been bugging me for ages. Who is the girl at the end of every podcast and what does she say? (I can make out "...and fire Justion McElroy)

Justin & Chris,

Mario Galaxy does in fact have something wrong with it--its not that your 360s are actually more tempting (or maybe they are I wouldn't know)--but Wii is the only next-gen console I own and I find myself more drawn to playing Puzzle Quest or Fire Emblem more intensely than I did SMG... I have 119 stars and I don't remember once really needing to get my fix, I sorta just played through it..It just wasn't one of those crack fiend games you cant wait to get back to.

I freaking hate purple coins now, especially when Luigi has them. Thanks a lot, SMG.

I almost didn't get 120 stars because of this.

I am finding that I am literally forcing myself through it. I mean, I know it's great and all. I just.. I just.. I just can't LIKE it. It's just another great game that I don't feel like playing. Maybe I'm too old for Mario now.

Jerk Face, that perfectly describes my first impressions with Super Mario Galaxy. I know it's amazing and great, but I still don't like it.

I'm hoping the feeling will pass.

dear guys, does one of you have their iphone too close to their computer?
i think that's what that intermittant annoying sound is.

I thought it was my speakers until Chris said something. It's not just iPhones that can do it, but any cell phones.

I used my speakers as a boss alarm, because they would make that irritating buzzing noise every time he walked by, because he always had that Crackberry of his glued to his ear.

Yeah, someone said it was GSM noise or something ... I use a CDMA phone myself. Does that mean that someone's GSM phone is in proximity to their computer and is causing those annoying ticking sound things?

Possibly. I know my personal CDMA phone doesn't affect my old speakers, but several of the company phones do. No idea if they're GSM.

I put a stop to it by replacing the speakers. The old ones were a pair of cheap, USB-powered pieces of crap. The new ones are cheap, wall-powered and not so crappy. They aren't affected by any phones or anything else around here.

I THINK I've solved that problem, at least. This podcast scared me into thinking I hadn't.

Would have to be Ludwig. Most of the comments I've heard about at&t/T-Mobile coverage in West Virginia invoke various synonyms for feces.

And since GSM is an international standard...

Tell you what, Joystiq hosts, just say the word and I'll tool around with a couple T-shirt concepts in case you want to get in kahoots with Jinx or a service like that.

While waiting for my next computer, I have some downtime where I can dink with some designs.

You should do a design with all the profile pictures of the long time readers.

Probably infringes on some copyright laws though...

I had about half a dozen designs already in me noggins already. I know they would like to get some shirts available for sale and right now, I can't work on my game. So it's certain options for me...

A. Draw, draw, draw, and more drawing, no focus or purpose, just drawing.

B. Go back to gaming more than 10-15 hours a week.

C. Build a 1:1 scale replica of the Pyramids then charge people to see it just to see if Egypt will sue me.

D. Continue my lifelong ambition to breed a clown with a yeti. I'm hoping I get something similar to Ludo.

E. Take on dink little projects to give me focus and also add experience in Illustrator.

I'd like to take this moment to thank you guys for podcasting during this lean time of the year.

Those fuckers at 1up have totally buggered off, as have the guys at Game Theory. Thankfully Angry hyphen Gamer put up a podcast this week.

We are thirsting in the desert and you have provided us with sweet, sweet nectar. That will probably give us hyperglycemic fits, but such is life.

I just noticed this new Joystiq podcast at the same time as a new GFW Radio podcast, and for the first time ever I had to give serious thought as to which to listen to first. Well done Joystiq, you keep getting better.

Dude, they're the two best on the whole interwebs aren't they? I still vote Joystiq above GFW but it's often close. Good time to be a gamer, these days. Who needs bullshit corporate "gamer" TV networks for a little entertainment focusing on our favorite hobby?

Sorry Chris, but your reasons for including COD4, God Of War 2, Bioshock and Halo 3 and *not* including Uncharted Drake's Fortune are

a) Assinine
b) Hypocritical
c) Unjustifiable

Since all of those games ranked higher on MetaCritic than Uncharted, it's obviously not only Joystiq's opinion. Even if it was, when you read their GoTY list, it's to see what THEIR opinion is, and nothing else. It's their opinion, and that's all it needs to justify the whole thing.

@Slaziman: What you're referring to is irrelevant. Chris can't seriously say Uncharted is derivative and then say Bioshock is just like System Shock 2, yet Bioshock deserves to be on the list and Uncharted doesn't. That's hypocrisy.

This just might have been the best yet of all Joystiq podcasts. I don't think I've ever lolled listening to something, but there were many snickers during my listen. I actually regret putting this off until the workweek.

You guys have come such a long way from the first few podcasts, which mostly consisted of contrived, self-referential segues and segue attempts. I'm so proud of you.

I think I may finally have to buy a Wii. Up until now it's the wife that's stopped me, but perhaps if I buy this it will prove to both provide a way to play SMG AND, at the same time, actually get my wife to play video games with me!
