Rare's 'The Fast & The Furriest' revealed for XBLA
Exciting news for furry fiends: Rare is currently developing The Fast & The Furriest, a party-sports hybrid with Vision cam support, for Xbox Live Arcade, reports X3F. An unnamed source has passed along a stack of presentation materials that detail the game of mini-games. Apparently, Rare initially intended for the events to be controlled with some sort of gesture wand (um, wrong console...), but has settled on ever-awkward mocap controls. Thankfully, flapping your arms up and down to sprint the 100-meter dash is optional.Players will be able to reunite with fan-favorites of yesteryear by selecting characters like Conker and Banjo – and even better, players can inhabit these cuddly creatures. Indeed, here's where F&F borders on fetishism, allowing players to superimpose their likenesses onto the bodies of Rare's fuzzy mascots as they bumble through games of croquet, bowling, volleyball, fishing and target practice. The Fast & The Furriest is still under development and currently without release date.

Does this mean Diddy Kong will be in an Xbox game?
flameofdoom666 @ Jan 4th 2008 5:00PM
Diddy Kong, and any Kong for that matter- is property of Nintendo. That means Diddy will not be in this game, unless Nintendo says he can be- which they wont, because the game is being developed for Xbox 360.
Anam @ Jan 4th 2008 5:03PM
King Kong was on Xbox, so you fail.
JBourrie @ Jan 4th 2008 7:18PM
Funniest thing I've read all day.
Obie @ Jan 4th 2008 4:59PM
WTF? Screw this noise, give me "Killer Instinct HD" dammit! Who the hell is running Rare now? They can't seem to do anything right lately.
flameofdoom666 @ Jan 4th 2008 5:03PM
I think it's coming. Its inevitable because of the 360 user base. Banjo may flop because of the userbase, rather then it being a bad game. I know Kameo did well, but that was a launch title. I think Rare will be forced to use their Perfect Dark, Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemeni, Conker and Killer Instinct franchises alot more.
Maybe they will make a brand new IP like Grabbed by the Ghoulies and/or Kameo. I liked them both.
Tiptup300 @ Jan 4th 2008 8:40PM
Jet Force Gemini for the 360 = happy creaminess!
This game though is a 100% buy.
Zegim @ Jan 5th 2008 1:52AM
I¿d be interested in Killer Instinct if Rare manages to make it a good game.
I loves it when I was a young and naive player, but after giving it another go after all these years I have to say that KI blows. Big time.
Oh, the black cartridge still looks as sexy as ever, anyway.
flameofdoom666 @ Jan 4th 2008 4:59PM
I love Rare games, but I am not excited for this. It sounds bad.
rikimaru @ Jan 4th 2008 5:01PM
No way!? This looks really messed up and possibly awesome. The camera support is just flat out creepy though.

This comment was for Obie. I clicked reply- but it did not seem to work. Odd.
Anam @ Jan 4th 2008 5:06PM
Good. Bring on Killer Instinct sequel, prequel and/or remake!
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Jan 4th 2008 5:06PM
Glad Banjo is in it! :)
The game seems a bit strange though.
Anam @ Jan 4th 2008 5:12PM
This coming from a black-hatted Mario with a scar on his nose, what looks like horns and three gray eyes.
Ranus Studios @ Jan 4th 2008 5:07PM
This is not Killer Instinct and therefore I am not interested.
Unless the inclusion of Conker indicates that this is actually in the same vein as Conker's Bad Fur Day, in which case I am slightly interested.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jan 4th 2008 5:08PM
I doubt it. This is obviously Micrsoft's way on trying to capture the casual crowd that Nintendo has in their pockets. So it looks like BFD conker won't make an appearance.
Darkstorm @ Jan 4th 2008 5:17PM
Interesting... I just rented Firehouse Dog the other day (a very nicely done movie) and the titular dog, Rexx stars in a movie called "The Fast and the Furriest".
samfish @ Jan 4th 2008 5:36PM
Good thing for the furries that Krystal from Star Fox isn't in this. It'd be really hard to play when you're manipulating 3 joysticks...
Jhongerkong @ Jan 4th 2008 6:25PM
TM-FUCKING-I
komamura @ Jan 4th 2008 7:04PM
that was good. I'll give that to you.
phuink @ Jan 4th 2008 6:08PM
To Rare:
Killer Instinct for XBLA maybe?
Finish Banjo-Kazooie maybe?
Thanks.
cold school @ Jan 4th 2008 6:21PM
that $337,000,000 is really paying off for MS.
Rubes.
flameofdoom666 @ Jan 4th 2008 6:39PM
Lmao.
zuburi @ Jan 4th 2008 7:13PM
:D

- Well, I guess it'll be redundant when I wear my costume and take a picture. A furry in a furry...but not in that way. 0_0
- But seriously, I think games like this show that Rare really is a Nintendo developer in heart. I think a lot of their games would sell better on the Wii.
Tiptup300 @ Jan 4th 2008 8:51PM
Please god no. The Wii is a gimmick. The ps3 is a media device. The 360 is where the gaming is at. (unless your a big Nintendo fan)
I currently own a 360 and am planning on purchasing a ps3 very soon in the future. Before you rabidly yell "FAN BOI!", I'm going to say that I'm an aspiring game developer, therefore I go with the best system for developers.
Oh yes, on the previous statement (at this time of writing) I must say that Rareware's games would be deeply ruined by the Wii's poor control system, because once you remove the motion and pointing functions, there is just a terrible controller design.
Psaakyrn @ Jan 4th 2008 11:51PM
Of cause the controller design would fail once you remove the motion and pointing functions, the controller was designed specifically for the 2 said functions. It's just like saying a Sixaxis is lousy for motion input once you remove the joystick and button functions.

Even if your name is Tiptup, you still fail.
Sean @ Jan 4th 2008 8:17PM
I just hope that they can distigush between a face and an ass or some other shameful body part. I really don't need to see someone's balls on a Banjo suit.
BPM - The 3rd Strike @ Jan 4th 2008 11:53PM
You know someone's gonna make it look like a penis is coming out of his mouth... -_-;
Silver R. Wolfe @ Jan 4th 2008 10:09PM
Fucking furries... oh wait.
TalbainJ @ Jan 4th 2008 10:51PM
What waiting? Fuck them. Not in the "I'd like to have intercourse with them" way... in the "people who parade their fetish around like that should be beaten until a consistency of Skittles is reached."
Burnt Meatloaf @ Jan 5th 2008 8:12AM
Would it make you feel better if I told you I hate Krystal more than anything?
Silver R. Wolfe @ Jan 5th 2008 1:38PM
I wouldn't say I hate her more than anything, but I hate how much attention these god damned furries give her sometimes. :P
KingRidley @ Jan 5th 2008 10:24AM
One can only hope that when the game is inserted into the xbox, it instantly causes red ring of death and (hopefully) a small fire.
NvM @ Jan 5th 2008 12:34PM
Despite their FPSs sucking, I did enjoy Kameo and I'm currently addicted to Viva Pinata.
Both were nice side tracks to "WOMG SHOOT DEM UP!" games.
ExYLE @ Jan 5th 2008 8:29PM
"Apparently, Rare initially intended for the events to be controlled with some sort of gesture wand (um, wrong console...), but has settled on ever-awkward mocap controls." actully this could be further proff of this rumor: http://xboxfamily.com/xf/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1107&Itemid=1
but if not looks like i have yet another reason to buy the camera
