Rockstar games 10% off on Steam during launch
Rockstar's line of PC games are now available for download on Valve's Steam digital distribution service with an additional 10% off during this launch week. The whole Grand Theft Auto series is available, including Midnight Club II, Manhunt, Wild Metal Country and the Max Payne games. Oh Max, dearest of all our friends, we wish you'd come back.
Almost every game except for GTA: San Andreas is under $10. Go ahead and gift a title to a gamer buddy you forgot this holiday season -- these actually are some great deals if you somehow missed any of these titles.

was that the pac-man mating call?! +1 to you sir!
and while i'm bothering to comment, its a shame that you can't buy GTAI and II seperately from that overzealous package.

Actually, GTA 1 and 2 are just an added bonus. They've been available for free (legally) for some time now, directly from Rockstar:

Considering the fact that they are free legally from Rockstar's site, I wonder why they aren't put into all Steam accounts - I would love to play through GTA2 again if I could just download it for free through Steam. I have no real interest in the other GTA games.

Max Payne is such an awesome game. I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it yet. 1 and 2 are both fantastic.
AutomagV @ Jan 4th 2008 7:15PM
Hell yeah, Max Payne is one of the most atmospheric action packed games ever developed. How about a sequel?!?!
aaron_k7 @ Jan 4th 2008 6:15PM
Max Payne is great...but it's Manhunt for me. I never checked that out the first time around, so now is a great time to do so.
ganrob @ Jan 4th 2008 6:25PM
Max Payne 2 just clicked for me, it's my favorite game of all time. Can't believe it even beats out SMB, HL, HL2 and the rest.
Damn I need that 3rd part.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 4th 2008 6:43PM
$54 for 10 games, kinda puts the Orange Box to shame.
James @ Jan 4th 2008 7:10PM
I bought the id super pack in the sales for £30. £4 more than Orange Box for ~23 games. Kinda puts... oh wait the games aren't as good as Orange Box's (well, maybe).
panzerjedi @ Jan 4th 2008 6:46PM
Direct2Drive offers the same bundle for $44.95, minus the three free games that you can get off Rockstar's site.
James @ Jan 4th 2008 7:12PM
This be my next purchase. Once I get my new drive in a few weeks time. A little 1tb drive and maybe I can finally fit all my Steam games without deleting old ones :D
Wubbytoes @ Jan 4th 2008 7:59PM
Rockstar had GTAII and Wild Metal Country for free on their website not too long ago. That's even better than $10.
Blazur @ Jan 4th 2008 8:00PM
I've always preferred to buy the physical game rather than going through steam. That way you not only have the manual for reading beyond the computer screen, and it helps for the resale value.
James @ Jan 4th 2008 8:06PM
I used to since I realised I don't sell games and once they're installed the box isn't ever touched again.
Plus the whole pre-loading and playing as soon as the game is out is pure excellence.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 4th 2008 8:27PM
I have to agree. I live in a congested area and it actually takes me longer to get to the store and back than it does do download a number of these games (Thanks, FiOS!), plus I have to then pay taxes and the fuel costs in addition to the game. Cheaper and faster for me through Steam.

Just picked up San Andreas, the only one in the series I've yet to play. I hear there's a popular mod for it to play online
boo ya
PhydeWice @ Jan 5th 2008 8:06AM
That would be Multi Theft Auto, sir.
colin @ Jan 4th 2008 10:01PM
moar Max plz.
Lilinka @ Jan 5th 2008 1:15AM
Anyone know if the Steam versions of Grand Theft Auto are as moddable as their non-Steam counterparts? I found this great mod that merges GTA3, VC, and San Andreas into one mega-game, which, if it's the same, makes it worth buying the steam one right now instead of waiting 'till monday to go hunting at a local PC games store for them (they're closed on weekends).
blackricoh @ Jan 5th 2008 6:49AM
I was wondering the same thing, I have a couple of mods I'd like to put in
prokofjev @ Jan 5th 2008 6:49AM
Lilinka please post the link for the mod you mentioned... cheers...
James @ Jan 6th 2008 5:14PM
I assume so. Since the id mega pack just has games and DOSboxes. You can copy the .pak (or whatever they are) files and put them on Doom DS, Doom PSP.
