Stargate Worlds trailer offers chance for eternal fame
20
You might have forgotten the announcement of a Stargate-based MMORPG that's in production under MGM Interactive and Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment -- and we don't blame you. For nearly two years, the game has been in development, and we've heard little to no news on release or beta dates, nor have we seen any gameplay footage at all. But fear not, Gateheads, the above trailer shows that the developers are still hard at work. You'll be deciding whether to roll Asgard or Jaffa soon enough.
Don't forget -- diehard Stargate fans can also enter a sweepstakes to put their likeness in the final version of the game, a distinction that we're sure will win you all the ladies.

I personally cant wait for this. I'm a big (not huge) stargate fan, and this that this has the potential to be exceptional. I've never liked MMORPG's either :S

I can't wait to grief people just to bring them back to life with a sarcophagus just to kill them again.

Watching it live means watching in live mode on your DVR or Tivo. Tivo'ing or DVR'ing a show leads to ratings loss.

I can't wait for this game and I don't play MMORPG. I love my stargate though.

I agree with CubeGuy. I'm a diehard Stargate fan, but I'd prefer an FPS or 3rd person shooter because, well, I just prefer having fun. I probably won't play this.

They make this game in a small business plaza only about a mile from my house. I pass by it almost every day on my bike rides, and I always peer into the second-story office to catch a glimpse of the huge, ornate, lighted Stargate that dominates their reception room. It's so awesome at night, especially. I love games, I love Stargate, and they're just down the street. That's fantastic. It'd be a dream come true to work there, let me tell you.

Stargate seems to be the most popular sci-fi series out there, even outdoing the trek franchise recently.
Which has me in a state of permanent confusion... its probably the laziest and worst written scifi series for years, yet everyone seems to love it.
Series with more originality, intelligence and wit in one episode than stargate has produced in its entirety seem to fail on a regular basis.. but the stargate juggernaut rolls one.
this'll probably be voted down, but can anyone enlighten me as to the appeal?

I used to be able to say it was because of MacGuyver, but now...
I actually enjoy it. I think it seems to do a decent job of bridging the gap between reality and sci-fi. Other sci-fi shows tend to tell stories about distant places we never have been to in a far off future. While Stargate still has that distant place we never heard of, it talks about how it could be going on right now. I think that is the major difference between Stargate and other sci-fi shows.
I do agree, other shows should have lived on as well, particularly Firefly, but I can see why that one failed. Bad marketing, which something Stargate does very well.

Lol, my sister is a real SG addict. I think she'd swoon over this.

When this was anounced I was very excited. It sounded to me like a primarily mission based mmo, with you playing as members of lower sg teams. Now it looks like you'll play as random aliens, who just go from planet to planet, with little to no role playing involved. (and is that a PC Asgardian in the trailer? Aren't they all dead?)

Hell, yeah!
I love Stargate, though MMo's not so much. Hopefully, this one will be a bit different. The Stargate universe is deep and should be incredibly easy to work with.
