damn I was looking forward to picking up this game once im done with mass effect. Ill pass now because I like to get all the achievments in every game I play and this game has now made that impossible for me unless I spend 1200MS points.

I hate how games can add more achievments that you need to pay for to get, yet they are conviently added to your gamercard even if you dont purchase the content, so everyone can see how you did not achieve all the points from said game.

meh, i'm perfectly happy to let 1000/1250 games sit there if i don't feel like buying the content.

heck, i've let bioshock's 1000/1100 sit there, just because i don't want some errant 1100 running around on my gamercard.

People are going to complain over this?

Halo 3 charges you $10 for three freaking maps, that aren't all that great anyway. And they give you TEN PLUS characters AND achievements for $5 more?

It isn't stranglehold that's ripping people off.

Yep - hit the nail on the head there, I thought it was quite a lot of content compared to what 'others' have released.

good thing only 1.2% of gamers actually own stranglehold, looks like it will sell to them flawlessly.

At least somebody cares, instead of making 3 unimpressive maps and charging 800 points for them.

Miss those times when developers either featured mod/custom map support or at least gave a shit about fanbase and released maps for free.

Forge isn't a mod/map editor. It's only a map tool! All it bloody does is let you spawn items and spawn points.
It's not the 8th wonder of the world, get over with it.

Look at PC Gaming. It's not just old titles like UT2004. UT3, Crisis and other great games have BUILT-IN map editors. Countless PC titles support custom maps.

Now how many Console games support them? Two 360 titles by the end of 2008. Kind of sad, in fact...

MS your not off to a good start in 08 and that is putting it nicely..

(Yes, I know MS doesn't set DLC price but they do counsel the publisher on what to charge)

Well ya the H3 Maps were 10 bucks but bungie has to balence them, make forge pallets for them and make them work for everysingle custom game option. Plus Standoff is an awesome map and foundry is worth my 10 bucks alone for forge plus rats nest is a good BTB map with a nice race track around it for customs. Lets not forget that 300+k people play halo at a given time so its kinda worth it.

People who justify the price of DLC maps on consoles should be faced with the swarm of developers who release free maps on PC.. and the swarm of frigging high caliber free fan made maps on PC.. and then be beaten.

Do you honestly think it cost them that much to do that?
I mean, honestly?

That's as bad as the people who think Halo 3 can't have a custom games search because "It has too many options, DAHURRR ME AM NOT SMART"

No no no, you can only buy in 500 denominations, therefore it's 1500ms points, and in the UK each 500ms points is £4.25, so that's £12.75 or $25.50.
I would no way pay that amount.

It's just like Tomb Raider Anniversary. If you download it on the XBLM, not only do you need to have Tomb Raider Legend, but it also costs £21/$42! In the shops, you can buy the game, without downloading, including disc, box and manual, all for just £15/$30, if bought on the internet, and probably even cheaper if bought used on ebay!
The XBLM is a rip-off!

Yeah it is a real rip-off here...
Especially because they don't seem to recognise the pound is much stronger than the dollar, which makes everything here cost more =(

looks like a good deal to me. Lost planet map packs were 400 points each so this is cheaper for 10.

remember microsoft forces them to charge for any down loadable content. They have to approve everthing and they dont offer free releases of anything very often. Profits Profits Profits.

thats not true in canada you can buy ms points on additions of 400 like 1400,2800,5600, or 800 which is good because you can by things without wasting your extra 100 points so ms isnt ripping you off just by your points online over a site.

I think it has more to do with physilogical pricepoints, in that everything over 800 msp is being conceived as being expensive, because it's >10 dollar/euro en therefore no pocketmoney/justified pricing for a ('little') XBLA game or downloadable content.

Fantastic poolgame Bankshot Billiards on XBLA was bought by me in the beginning for 1200 msp (=15 dollar/euro), that is the same amount of money I pay to play 1 hour of pool in real life. So, not that expensive to have a good (virtual) poolgame in my livingroom, along with online play, Vision webcamsupport etc.
Almost none of my friends was willing to pay 1200 msp on a XBLA arcade game, for them it was conceived as being too expensive (for a mini/XBLA game).
Now that it has become a 'classic XBLA' game and now only costs 800 msp, my friends are interested again. So they were holding out for a good game for more than a year just to save 5 dollar/euros?
It has probably a lot to do with the physilogical conception of certain pricepoints.
