The most played Xbox Live games of 2007

Mr. Xbox himself, Larry Hryb posted the Top Xbox Live games of 2007 over on MajorNelson.com and we don't think anyone will be surprised that Halo lead the pack. Among the post played retail games Halo 3 tops the list at number one with Gears of War at two, Call of Duty 4 at the third spot, Rainbow Six Vegas at four and rounding out the top five is Call of Duty 3. But onto news that may actually surprise you. Larry also posted the top ten most purchased XBLA games of 2007 and color us purple, TMNT came in at number one. TMNT! Who would have thunk that? Worms ranked at the number two spot, Castlevania: SOTN at three and everyone's favorite Vision camera enabled game UNO comes in at number four.

w00t! Halo 3 beats COD4! Halo is the greatest EVAR! HAHAHA! ok, that was for the COD-psychos... Why did you blur 6 and 7 on the list instead of just cropping the image?

i guess they don't speak of / show the number 6 and number 7 titles here.......which by the way are crackdown and oblivion.....both great games......

Why did you block out the 6/7 titles?

Because I was trying to build some sort of excitement and anticipation for you to click over to Major Nelson's blog. I also wanted to use the nifty "blur" effect in photoshop.

That blur effect will get you every time

It looked to me like you were hiding the fact Crackdown came in at a VERY respectable 6th place.

It would be interesting to find out where Halo 2 would rank if the lists were not broken down by 360 or Original

i would also like to see single-player only games broken off into their own list.

Oblivion...am I the only one who disliked this game as it was too complicated to make a good 360 port.

Crackdown deserved it. I feel sad that the game was a treated as "That game that comes with Halo 3 Beta. HALO 3 BETA w()()t!". The game was a lot better sandbox than GTA...

I couldn't get into Oblivion either. Just not a game for me... Crackdown however, that was a really awesome game. Co-op for the win!

Crackdown was an excellent sandbox and was very underrated. I still pull it out and play it ever once in a while.

I just don't see how Halo 3 made the top when it's been out for mearly months, while the other games has been out a lot longer

and Gears of War is horrid :\

infact, every game up there Sucks except for Call of Duty 4...

Oh come on...I haven't played CoD4 yet but it's pretty much a similar sequel after all. Gears of War (FTW!) revolutionised game mechanics.And was the only game to ever top Halo 2 before Halo 3 came out.

What some people are forgetting is that Halo 3 sold 8.5 million copies. Since the list is based on Unique users and that's why it is on top, despite only being out a short while.

did they leave out Halo 2? i want to assume this still would have topped everything else.

TMNT for the win. Its like one of the only Arcade titles i bought this year. COOP ROCKS>

lol yea i just recently purchased TMNT 1989 so I guess I added to these figures, but I am quite surprised about the complete absence of "Space Giraffe" from the list...

Ouch.

I predict 2008 ending like this:
1. Gears of War 2
2. Grand Theft Auto 4
3. Halo 3

halo 3 and gears blow complete asshole. they are both sad multiplayer games especially gears!

Who would have thunk TMNT? Only people with good taste.

It's sad how some people hate Halo just because of how popular it is.
