Microsoft Games chief Don Mattrick has confirmed (or, in some cases, reaffirmed) via a memo a handful of exclusive titles to arrive on Xbox 360 in 2008. The list of assuredly not canceled titles include Halo Wars, Too Human, Fable 2, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction and "several exciting yet-to-be-announced titles."
Following the list of 2008 exclusives, Mattrick continues to say that "Xbox 360 will be home to the next versions of great franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil ... Madden and FIFA." We're not sure if he meant to imply Resident Evil 5 is due out this year, but it's certainly a suspicious line. Other than this year, no schedule was given as to the release of these titles, although we now get a sense of what Microsoft feels will keep gamers happy in this post-Halo 3 world.
Fable 2, Alan Wake and more confirmed for 2008

So when exactly can we hear about these?

Still, a respectable list, it doesn't beat PS3's TBA 2008 (and we still know nothing about Wii's), but it certainly isn't lacking in goodness

On that note, I want that game so hard.

Alan Wake sounds badass, but why is it Vista only? If it's also coming out for Xbox it has to work in Dx9... because Xbox doesn't do DX10.
Moreover, when is Microsoft gonna release/announce the Vista only Halo 3 and Halo Wars ports? Hate to admit it, but I'd be sold.
Also, is it Vista-only? Sucks, I'll have to wait for the crack to play it on XP.
It's part of the scheme MS has always pulled when they make a new version of windows. They make the good-looking (not graphically but good-looking as in fun gameplay) games exclusively for the newest windows platform and when enough good games (other software too I suppose) come out, they cut the supports out from under the previous version and all but kill off the version that came out two iterations ago.
Regardless, it will be a great year for gamers, 360, PS3, Wii and DS. I would love to know what the unanounced games will be that the artcle refers to. Another good year for 360, now if I can find a Wii i'll have the 2 consoles I need to keep me going until next gen.

But yeah 2008 is gonna be a great year for all gamers.
I'm with you though, just comparing list to list, MS is doing okay. But everything I hear from the press is that there are a lot more Sony titles being shown (like Afrika) that the public isn't seeing. So perhaps Sony does have an ace up their sleeve.
It's I couldn't care less about the 360 line up. I hate seeing people type I could care less all the time it really grinds my gears.
and im a happy* gamer
*happy but broke.....

I'd say its the reverse. Molyneux will have a titanic vision of a game, but reality will slowly dwindle it into a game thats still a helluva fun title, but not the glorious vision originally channeled from wherever Molyneux gets his ideas
The key thing here is not merely that all these "exclusives" were also available on PC. Its also that these are shooter games many gamers would prefer to play on PC with mkb and that multiplayer is free.
And its not as if you specially buy a PC for games. Almost everyone buys a PC these days - An 8600 and a gig extra RAM costs maybe $150 extra, and would play all games except CRYSIS at least on medium specs. - Would you pay $600 on 360 + Live - or $150 extra on a better PC?

it's almost like microsoft was shocked by halo's success and was just like "fuck it we're going to pimp it to rake in the dollars" and just forgot about everything else
and btw two of the titles you mentioned came out on pc first.
GC > PS2 > Xbox
in terms of exclusives.
...although I unfairly count the Viewtiful Joe games as exclusives.

As for fable 2, right now i'm not impressed on what's been shown. I remember molyneux saying he had 4 big announcements regarding the game and so far we have the inclusion of a dog and one button combat....whoopie. But then again what should I have expected from someone who's known for overhyping things.
How exactly is one button combat a good thing?? hell if we go by that then friggin dynasty warriors has more advanced combat with two buttons!

We haven't even seen much of actual gameplay, just tests whipped together for previews.

These sound like interesting games to me.. All for the 360 this year.

Personally, I'd vote for Resident Evil: Madden. Imagine the possibilities.

That is the game I want the most from the 360 in 2008.
PS3 has LittleBigPlanet...and I'm increasingly mixed on that until I see some actual gameplay.
Of course, I'd really like to know what Platinum Games/Seeds/Clover is up to and for which console before I really declare one system as being more favorable over the other for the year.

As for the list: I don't really know the list for PS3(and it's too late here for me to be looking for my magnifying glasses) but the 360's looks sweet.
"Well you a remember a console that had some of the greatest exclusives possible - Half Life 2, Halo 1+2, Doom 3, Thief 3, Riddick, KOTOR, Far Cry. And yet it flopped - unbelievable."
Flopped? Unbelievably? It outlasted expectations as far as I'm concerned! Since then, when Microsoft releases a console, no one wonders if it will be "the next 3do"! That's SOME kinda success...
Also, remember "exclusives" is an abreviation of "console exclusives". PC and handhelds don't count. They are not HOME consoles. Maybe next you'll say a game isn't exclusive because you remember it, and you can play it in your mind! So you'll ask us not to call Ninja Gaiden 2 exclusive, cause aside from coming to 360 it'll be available in your imagination.

what do you mean "Since then, when Microsoft releases a console, no one wonders if it will be "the next 3do"! "

...Well not really, but you get the picture.
