No More Heroes bumped up to Jan. 22
Luckily, it seems we can continue with our nearly monthly ritual of trying to figure out which of our disconnected AV cords go to the Wii, with IGN reporting that NMH has actually been bumped up to a January 22nd release. Now, we just need to find two AAs for the Wiimote, as we still haven't perfected Travis Touchdown's unconventional method of charging.

I'm just now seeing in-game footage of this WHY?!?! Looks crazy. Not sure what im supposed to do with the wiimote though during the part that has the circle around it spinning. Do I let go and let it spin around on my wrist with the strap?
WiNG @ Jan 7th 2008 3:09PM
No it means you've locked swords with someone and need to shake like crazy to beat them out of it.
Undead Priest @ Jan 7th 2008 7:51PM
Just seeing in-game footage of it now is your fault. There's plenty of videos of it available out there.
Undead Priest @ Jan 7th 2008 7:52PM
I also like to say that last comment of mine came off assholish, which I didn't intend.
zelderman @ Jan 7th 2008 2:24PM
Hell yeah!!!!!!!
Jerk Face @ Jan 7th 2008 2:25PM
I hope this game is good. I'm going to dump Super Mario Meh-laxy once I beat it. This looks like a suitable choice for those trade-in bucks.
FidliousWong @ Jan 7th 2008 2:31PM
I've had zero urge to touch it since I got the 60 stars and "beat" the game. I gotta be in the mood for Mario because nothing else is pushing me through that game.
flameofdoom666 @ Jan 7th 2008 2:36PM
I got all 120 within 4 days of it coming out. It is such and addictive and great game.
Jerk Face @ Jan 7th 2008 2:39PM
Ugh.. Just THINKING about going for all 120 makes me want to drink.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 7th 2008 2:49PM
The first 60 stars are cake. Its the last 60 that are a real challenge. If you were expecting a more challenging mario game, keep playing it for the other stars, you'll probably enjoy it much more.
Jerk Face @ Jan 7th 2008 3:06PM
It's not really lack of challenge or even anything really bad about the title. I mean, I know how great it is. It's just.. When I hear about how this is apprently the 'greatest game of all time' it just falls flat for me. I can think of at LEAST ten games better than SMG. It's just a pretty sweet Mario game. It's no Half-Life 2 or Chrono Trigger or Super Metroid or Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime 3 or Gran Turismo or Final Fantasy 7.. I could keep going so easily.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 7th 2008 3:34PM
I put it down after 88 stars, not because it's not still an awesome game, but because I still have Orange Box, Resistance, Ratchet, Assassin's, and another playthrough of Mass Effect to deal with. After that, though, you'd better believe I'm going back to Galaxy.
Jhongerkong @ Jan 7th 2008 5:43PM
Yeah, it does get pretty challenging near the end.
I still have nightmares about the purple coin challenge on dreadnought galaxy.
Joseph @ Jan 7th 2008 2:36PM
Is it just me, or does this game look absolutely horrible based on the video?
Thief @ Jan 7th 2008 3:00PM
Thank god, I was thinking the same here too.
Dreary graphics, horrible voice acting, repetitive sounds, piss-poor bike minigame...
ugh
Mr Khan @ Jan 7th 2008 4:21PM
It's camp value is off the charts, though. The sheer outrageousness of the game, aside from its neat combat mechanics and the fact that it's dripping with otaku goodness
sifer2400 @ Jan 7th 2008 2:37PM
seems like awerid game form the gamelay ive seen i wonder if it will do good here in the USA.
9600baud @ Jan 7th 2008 3:05PM
Bonus cat ftw
Raikage (Wii FC 5508 0487 4434 0992) @ Jan 7th 2008 3:22PM
Fudge Berry Chocolate Sunday?
FUDGEBERRIES I GOTTA HAVE THIS GAME
Treasure Intern @ Jan 7th 2008 3:28PM
If it's not a FPS, then it won't do good in the USA.
Because in today's gaming world, that's all the new MTV generation(aka Xbots/Graphic Whores/iTunes/iPod kids/young adults) play nowadays.
Also, the game has to include achievement points. They like that kind of sh!t.
Day one purchase for me. Go Suda 51!
baby sea tuna @ Jan 7th 2008 3:44PM
Whew, I was hoping this thread would make its idiot-quota somehow. Thanks for jumping in there and taking care of business for us!
Trev @ Jan 7th 2008 4:04PM
The success of other games disagrees with you, T.I.
I do wonder if the style, and silly atmosphere are going to hinder this one a little though. Everyone knows Master Chief and Mario, but Travis Touchdown? It looks fun, so I hope people 'get it' and realize it's supposed to be silly and don't just think its dumb.
I'll cross my fingers and hope it doesn't pull a God Hand.
CJC @ Jan 7th 2008 4:18PM
Dreary graphics? Did we watch the same video, Thief? The shadowy cel-shaded graphics combined with the bizarre pseudo8-bit HUD look awesome.
All of your other complaints are valid, but the graphics ooze style.
Mr Khan @ Jan 7th 2008 4:18PM
Perfect point for me
It gives me slightly over 2 weeks to play it before life begins anew (as i call it), and that allows me to get it before Easter, which was my target date for that game if it came in too close to (or after) Brawl
Shad0wguy @ Jan 7th 2008 4:31PM
At first I really had no interest in this game, but the more I see of it the more I like it. And now I plan on buying it shortly after it comes out. Looks like the Wii may be finally hitting its stride.
Dopple Boppler @ Jan 7th 2008 5:16PM
This is pretty much the only third party exclusive Wii game aside from Zack and Wiki that's ever caught my interest at all. Definitely picking this up day one.
OTAM @ Jan 7th 2008 5:37PM
Don't worry,it's not a Nintendo mascot so the game isn't going to sell.
Jhongerkong @ Jan 7th 2008 5:57PM
Leon Kennedy begs to differ.
OTAM @ Jan 7th 2008 8:59PM
Zack and Wiki don't.
playwhutyalike (kinda digs Manhunt 2) @ Jan 7th 2008 9:33PM
Want some cheese with that whine?
OTAM @ Jan 7th 2008 9:38PM
Who's whining? I own all 3 systems and a Dreamcast. It's certainly not me.
Cesaria @ Jan 7th 2008 5:50PM
This game looks totally unique. I hope it sells well. The story is really intriguing.
Edguy @ Jan 7th 2008 6:15PM
This is actually some great news, because I was worried about how I would be able to afford buying this game, Brawl, and Ace Attorney 4 all in the same month.
NitroFrost @ Jan 7th 2008 6:23PM
This shall be the only reason I get a WII probably
Superstar90 @ Jan 7th 2008 6:56PM
It already got a 94 from Ngamer UK. I hope these ratings continue :D
Mainman @ Jan 7th 2008 7:47PM
Quotes from NGamer's end-of-review box:
Overview: "Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden, stripped to the most exciting bits, with near-perfect controls, set in 'GTA: Nutcase City'."
Graphics: "Ridiculously stylish. Jaggies? We're convinced they're by design. Killer7 showed that Suda 51 loves jagged edges." - 9/10
Audio: "The funkiest music imaginable makes up the soundtrack to ten thousand murders. Bonkers." - 8/10
Gameplay: "A massive, relentless game. The amount of stuff to see and do is overwhelming." - 9/10
Innovation: "From the first minute to the end credits, Heroes is totally unlike any other game; it's unique." - 9/10
Summary: "No More Heroes is a love letter to videogames that never grows old, tired or dull. All games deserve to be designed with such lunacy."
Undead Priest @ Jan 7th 2008 7:57PM
SUDA 51 is a brilliant game designer daring to do something completely different, but somehow familiar, in the midst of one mediocre derivative title after another.
And the only people disappointed by Killer7 were the people who nothing about it before buying it. Killer7 is my 2nd favorite GameCube title, just behind RE4. K7 wins for story, easily.
jynxycat @ Jan 7th 2008 9:21PM
Hope Capcom is prepared for this game to do abysmal.
The Wii isn't meant for such outlandish titles.
playwhutyalike (kinda digs Manhunt 2) @ Jan 7th 2008 9:36PM
I hope the game is good, I'll give it a rent and maybe buy, but I do agree with you there, jynxy. Different off the wall shit doesn't really do well. Maybe all the people complaining about not having anything to play on the Wii should, like, maybe pick this up and give it a try.
Zsavior @ Jan 7th 2008 9:44PM
And what title on the xbox360 or PS3 was anything like this and did well? Halo 3 FPS, Bio shock? Orange box? I am sorry point out the non FPS that did HUGE this year, Assassins Creed and Mario Galaxy are the only other games that saw some play and attention. SO please reel of the games like NMH on Xbox360 and PS3 that was supported.
People are hating on the WII but the WII is putting out games like Zack and Wiki, like No more heroes. Hells yes they have a crap load of shovelware, guess what welcome to console gaming, let me reference back to the PS2. But next to those games there are also a variety of others, and I am quite tired of this crap that the other systems are putting out a diverse supply of great games. If you weren't into shooters last year your choices on consoles that wasn't a WII were scarce. But like I said real off the others, that weren't Assassins Creed, and oblivion or LAWL madden.

Correction to self: I need a wii for Brawl AND No More Heroes.
