We had been a little worried for Suda51's odd action game No More Heroes, nestled as it was in a February release slot, the same month as sure-to-be-mega-hit Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Would the unknown assassin be able to compete with the entire stable of Nintendo characters? Would Wii owners know what to do with themselves if the console got more than one decent game in a month?
Luckily, it seems we can continue with our nearly monthly ritual of trying to figure out which of our disconnected AV cords go to the Wii, with IGN reporting that NMH has actually been bumped up to a January 22nd release. Now, we just need to find two AAs for the Wiimote, as we still haven't perfected Travis Touchdown's unconventional method of charging.
I'm just now seeing in-game footage of this WHY?!?! Looks crazy. Not sure what im supposed to do with the wiimote though during the part that has the circle around it spinning. Do I let go and let it spin around on my wrist with the strap?
I've had zero urge to touch it since I got the 60 stars and "beat" the game. I gotta be in the mood for Mario because nothing else is pushing me through that game.
The first 60 stars are cake. Its the last 60 that are a real challenge. If you were expecting a more challenging mario game, keep playing it for the other stars, you'll probably enjoy it much more.
It's not really lack of challenge or even anything really bad about the title. I mean, I know how great it is. It's just.. When I hear about how this is apprently the 'greatest game of all time' it just falls flat for me. I can think of at LEAST ten games better than SMG. It's just a pretty sweet Mario game. It's no Half-Life 2 or Chrono Trigger or Super Metroid or Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime 3 or Gran Turismo or Final Fantasy 7.. I could keep going so easily.
I put it down after 88 stars, not because it's not still an awesome game, but because I still have Orange Box, Resistance, Ratchet, Assassin's, and another playthrough of Mass Effect to deal with. After that, though, you'd better believe I'm going back to Galaxy.
It's camp value is off the charts, though. The sheer outrageousness of the game, aside from its neat combat mechanics and the fact that it's dripping with otaku goodness
The success of other games disagrees with you, T.I.
I do wonder if the style, and silly atmosphere are going to hinder this one a little though. Everyone knows Master Chief and Mario, but Travis Touchdown? It looks fun, so I hope people 'get it' and realize it's supposed to be silly and don't just think its dumb.
I'll cross my fingers and hope it doesn't pull a God Hand.
It gives me slightly over 2 weeks to play it before life begins anew (as i call it), and that allows me to get it before Easter, which was my target date for that game if it came in too close to (or after) Brawl
At first I really had no interest in this game, but the more I see of it the more I like it. And now I plan on buying it shortly after it comes out. Looks like the Wii may be finally hitting its stride.
This is pretty much the only third party exclusive Wii game aside from Zack and Wiki that's ever caught my interest at all. Definitely picking this up day one.
This is actually some great news, because I was worried about how I would be able to afford buying this game, Brawl, and Ace Attorney 4 all in the same month.
SUDA 51 is a brilliant game designer daring to do something completely different, but somehow familiar, in the midst of one mediocre derivative title after another.
And the only people disappointed by Killer7 were the people who nothing about it before buying it. Killer7 is my 2nd favorite GameCube title, just behind RE4. K7 wins for story, easily.
I hope the game is good, I'll give it a rent and maybe buy, but I do agree with you there, jynxy. Different off the wall shit doesn't really do well. Maybe all the people complaining about not having anything to play on the Wii should, like, maybe pick this up and give it a try.
And what title on the xbox360 or PS3 was anything like this and did well? Halo 3 FPS, Bio shock? Orange box? I am sorry point out the non FPS that did HUGE this year, Assassins Creed and Mario Galaxy are the only other games that saw some play and attention. SO please reel of the games like NMH on Xbox360 and PS3 that was supported.
People are hating on the WII but the WII is putting out games like Zack and Wiki, like No more heroes. Hells yes they have a crap load of shovelware, guess what welcome to console gaming, let me reference back to the PS2. But next to those games there are also a variety of others, and I am quite tired of this crap that the other systems are putting out a diverse supply of great games. If you weren't into shooters last year your choices on consoles that wasn't a WII were scarce. But like I said real off the others, that weren't Assassins Creed, and oblivion or LAWL madden.
