This Wednesday: Omega Five, Tron get digitized, sucked into Xbox Live

We already knew about Omega Five (you did read that post, didn't you?) so we're not going to waste your time going through all the gory details. It's 800 points, it's an action game, we liked it. No, we're going to skip right to the retro release this week: Tron, a 400-point HD sprucing of the old arcade favorite.

Not only will you experience the visceral thrill of speeding around in light cycles and killing a dude with a dinner plate, you're also going to be able to do it 2-player, an option not available on the arcade original. If we have one quibble, it's that Discs of Tron (also in development for XBLA) isn't included in the package. Are the two really worth splitting up?

Tron seems like it would have been so easy to make into a fun game, or at least a few fun mini games. Disc throwing, light-cycle driving... nobody ever seemed to get it right though.

Tron 2.0 had both those games in it, and was fun for a while... but nothing so amazing that I could keep it on my hard drive for more than a few weeks. Oh well.

I would love picking up Tron for 400pts. But I'm not buying another XBL Arcade title until the DRM issues are fixed.

I refuse to have my game purchases held hostage.

Yeah I have 60 f'n games downloaded that will not play since ive gotten my replacement for the RROD one. Customer service has been rude and unhelpful. I bought these games and should be able to play them. I dont think they are going to fix this problem until a class action is thrown there way. Its the only thing Microsoft seems to respond to. Yeah I do want Tron, and have already caved in for Puzzle Quest and Arkadian Warriors...

I never got to play the arcade version because the arcades that had it always had the longest line to play it.

Or...it was out of order, which was often.

That game looked so amazing at the time.

Is Tron literally just a port? If so i'm not amused. I can't say i've played the original, but i have seen it played, and these graphics don't look improved at all.

Not that it's a bad thing mind you, but i hardly think putting a nice border around an old game and releasing it deserves any attention. (case and point Super Maro 64 DS)

Wait, weren't they always separate? Though, it would have been cool if they included Discs and made this some sort of Tron collection.

But either way, I love me some Tron.
