REZ from Sega, Originally made for the Playstation 2 and the Saturn is a trance-music based shooting game. I own the PS2 copy and the following is from the game book.
(Actually I own two copies; they're collector's items and since I love the game I had to snatch an extra one up when I could find one!)

" A new AI system, 'Project-K', has been created in an attempt to resolve the situation of overpopulation and crime. At the core of the system is center intelligence named 'Eden.'

She has the most advanced AI the world has ever known. It has the capacity to process vast amounts of information at once, and to use that information to form it's own uniquely advanced independent thoughts. Some would say Eden has developed her own consciousness.

However, Eden became confused when the flow of information became to greatly increase in speed and volume. She started to question her existence and the consequences of her actions. Finding herself surrounded by paradoxes and realizing the power of autonomy which it possessed, Eden began to shut herself down.

You are now about to travel within the cyberspace of this Project-K Network on a mission to reawaken Eden. You must first gain access to each area and level of the system, destroying any placed Viruses and Firewalls you encounter. Open your senses."

Essentially the game is an on-rails shooter much like Panzer Dragoon with a lock-on laser system that resembles TRON. (Not the XBLA game this week, the actual movie 'TRON'. ) It has a constant pulse-pounding trance beat (not techno) and is one of my most favorite games of all time. It's a steal at 800 MS points (USD $10) because the actual PS2 copy can run you nearly five times that or more in retail...if you can find it.

If anyone who has never played the game has any specific questions about it I'd love to answer any!!

They said they'd be giving details in the next few weeks. Technically that time period isn't up yet.

Plus this is isn't even MS's announcement.

@Magic Whiskey: actually, Rez was developed by SEGA internal studio for Dreamcast (instead of Saturn). When they announced to go multiformat software-only and stop Dreamcast making, one of the first titles that would be treated this multiformat-approach was Rez, by bringing it also to the PS2 (so targeting a bigger audience).
Because of the abstract nature and cultstatus it has, along with raving reviews, most DC owners disliked the fact that it also came out to evil massmarket PS2.
Now we can benefit that they made this move, so that we (xbox owners) can also try out this very special game.
I also think this game would be the most appropiate game for MS to give to us Xbox Live Gold gamers, because of the storyline of Rez:

the information age comes to a deadly halt when the core of society's technological memory, an AI-unit called Eden, begins to feel the strain of too much data. Struggling to keep up, the technology actually begins to question its own existence and goes into a futuristic freak out.
Now, you must journey deep into the realm of 3D cyberspace in order to fix the system, a task that will require hacking codes and battling fierce creatures. Your goal is to get all the way to the system's core, but that's a journey that only the bravest and most dedicated adventurers will be able to survive.

Replace 'Eden' with 'Xbox Live' and you get why I think Rez would be very appropiate as the promised free game.

Don't know if I would like the full game that much (didn't like similar style Panzer Dragoon Orta gameplay that much, love the artstyle/graphics though on both), but looking forward strapping myself with as much controllers as possible to get the real 'feeling' for it, while playing the trial.
