MTV unveils Rhythm Game Track Finder service
Wondering if your favorite artist has ever appeared in a rhythm game? Looking for an easy way to compare track listings? MTV has just unveiled a new service that looks like it could be an answer for all your rock 'n' roll prayers: The Rhythm Game Track Finder.
The idea is simple: Enter in a song title or band name, and the Track Finder tells you in which games it/they have appeared, when the game was released, even whether a master track or cover version was used. Though we found a couple of technical hiccups (we got double results for one of our searches), this looks like it's likely to be invaluable for rhythm fans.

Oh wow. This was built from the ground up for rhythm gaming geeks like me. :D And since it's from MTV, it means it'll provide an up-to-date listing of every Rock Band song as well.

Dude, how rad would it be if they made a movie-game based off of High Fidelity?
whymog @ Jan 8th 2008 1:31PM
It would be a point-and-click adventure game where the only actions are "whine" and "drink."
It would be pretty fantastic.

Charlie, you f***ing b*tch! Let's work it out!

Nifty. Nothing spectacularly useful, but I didn't realize that my beloved Red Hot Chili Peppers were in Boogie. :P

Thats nice and all, but that is one ugly baby (got hit with the ugly stick no doubt)
Spiff that UI up and I see no problems with it.

Is it just rhythm games ?
jynxycat @ Jan 8th 2008 1:40PM

mista lova lova

And then you datamine the results to determine what bands to pursue for future rhythm game opportunities. Genius! You can send payment to...

They don't even have DDR:Ex2... but I guess it's to be expected. I mean, MTV compiled it.
Bobby Blackwolf @ Jan 8th 2008 2:20PM
No Taiko Drum Master or Mad Maestro? I can understand the omissions of Technic Beat and Gitaroo-Man since those were all original compositions for the game - but both Taiko Drum Master and Mad Maestro used licensed songs just like Donkey Konga and Elite Beat Agents did (even though Mad Maestro's songs are all in the public domain...)
R2P2 @ Jan 8th 2008 3:01PM
And what about Ouendan 1 & 2? :D Sure, they're Japanese, but lots of people imported them.
Yuccadude @ Jan 8th 2008 3:52PM
Definitely buggy, seeing as it doesn't show up YYZ by Rush when you search by Artist-Rush, but it shows Tom Sawyer in Rock Band at least.
Jason Cipriano @ Jan 8th 2008 5:15PM
@ Yccadude
The Rush issue has been fixed and should be working now
@Bobby Blackwolf and Cheezeman 3000

Funny, band name on Rock Band is the Kinky Wizards (or Top 5 records' fame).
