Can't you just share your files on the Mac, Windows style, and then browse and play them on the PS3 or 360?

Yes, but Nullriver's solution will give you access to any playlists/photo albums you've created in iTunes and iPhoto, even smart lists. I've used their Connect360 for the Xbox and it works great. I had a problem with it when it was first released and they emailed me back immediately to troubleshoot the problem.

That sounds like a lot to pay for pay lists and photo albums.

Isn't there something out there like this for Wii? Didn't I read about it on here? These questions must be answered....

Hehe, iTunes DRM. The easiest thing to get around. Burn an audio CD (which you want to do anyway since iTunes doesn't let you download something you lost again without forking over another $1 a song) and rip it back in the non-DRM format. Problem solved.

Why bother about it in first place. If Apple are being pricks like that, just get the MP3 off the internet. I can't believe they're doing THIS when 95% of mp3 are being downloaded off p2p.

Easy but not convenient. Also, unless you are re-ripping lossless, you're taking a quality hit.

Is Apple still selling non-DRM music in iTunes? I remember reading that Steve Jobs was very against DRM but they couldn't sell music without it, but DRM tracks from artists that allow it were for sale on iTunes at a slightly higher price.

I hope this software works, but It's too bad that the PS3 doesn't seem to support Mov. files.... or does it?

pshh unless im at a club i'm hardly going to notice the difference between 192kb/s and something much higher def. if audiophiles care that much about the data lost through rip compression, they deserve to pay more for it. i dont.

LOL LT. I just did that last night to get my daughters itunes songs onto her MP3 player. It does work out that the CD just goes to my younger daughter so she can play iy in her bedroom. At least Downloading the songs is faster than P2P.

As a new Mac owner/PS3 owner, thats good to hear. (Although my laptop is always in front of my PS3, so this is kind of useless =P)

I'm not sure if I just imagined it or what, but I was under the impression that the PS3-streaming functionality was going to be added on to the existing Connect360 software.

Which I was excited about, since it would've meant that I could choose to stream media to my much quieter PS3 without having to plop down $20 for another piece of software...

*grumble* You'd think they'd at least offer a discount for existing Connect360 users.

If DRM in iTunes is a problem just make a playlist, burn to CD as a Audio CD format (see iTunes prefs) and then stick CD into PS3 to have it RIP the songs to MP3's without the DRM pretty quick and if you use a CD-R you can just erase it and do this several times. I have also tried the EyeConnect software from Elgato that allows this same function but it also has some issues. I like to do it more manually since network connect in my apartment building gets alot of interference from other's wireless channel overlap. Windows Media Player already allows for UPnP AV device connections so one Windows this is not needed but I do have both Mac and PC as well as two PS3's. Sound like this software as well as Elgato's still has issues so still waiting for next round of software. @Norm Apple's MOV format does not work on PS3. You have to convert it to H264 MPEG (.mp4 or .m4v))format or newest PS3 firmware allows Divx and AVI support. I use Quicktime Pro or just RIP my DVD's using Handbrake straight to m4v format so a little work but works great when done.

I have used the previous "best Mac-to-PS3" streaming app (EyeConnect), I can say that MediaLink is the far superior product. Also, the price is much better at $20 bucks than EyeConnect ($69.99 last time I checked).

The streaming is fast, and the Fast Forward, Rewind, and pause features are well implemented (read: doesn't hose the playback). This is a must have.

As soon as I send this post, I'm sending $20 to Nullriver Software.

Why would they offer a discount to Connect360 users? They're two similar programs, but for two entirely different consoles.

Anyway, I installed it, and the demo worked flawlessly. Purchased immediately. Nullriver continues to put out excellent software with fantastic customer service day in and day out. They're an essential piece of the Mac community.

Bravo. Job well done.

Well. It did work flawlessly for me. I downloaded the software, installed it, and then clicked the Start button. Then I quit gaming on the PS3 and went to Music, and all my music was already there.

PS: Not flawlessly. I just remembered there was this just one song, which didn't have the album art right, other than that everything worked perfect.

It's to bad you can only play music locally in HV Bowling. I wish it would just stream. Still a great bowling game though.

Didn't work so well for me, got it to connect and my PS3 could see my folders but music and photos would not play. I tried viewing my movie collection but it was hit and miss, the same movies I can watch using Connect360 were unsupported on my PS3. Gonna wait on this. 30 minute trial? Are they serious?? Wastin' my time.
