What good's a trade show without vague promises? Paul Purdy, repping Sony at CES, has done his part, "confirming" that an in-game XMB update for PlayStation 3 is due in the new year, reports TGR. When pressed for details, Purdy backpedaled and reaffirmed that Sony's CES presence was focused on hardware – hardware that, for the moment, lacks consistent multitasking features. (Let's not forget, some games already support the bells and whistles we'd hoped Sony would've included the last time a major update was pushed out.)

But I'm not bashing =(
I'm telling the truth. Maybe the in game XMB will be a striped version, just like the bowling game.

i think what fernando was trying to say is that it's a lot harder to put the entire xmb in game. Think of the 360, when you hit the guide button the entire dashboard doesn't come up just the core essentials. Sony's trying to put the entire XMB in which is bitch to pull off in the memory department. Yes it can and will be done, just harder to pull it off.

i dont see why people upvote him. i understand that the ps3 isnt suited for some gamers. different people have different tastes, and that should be fine, right? but all is does is just downplay the ps3, without actually giving rhyme or reason. i dont mind when i find the attitude of "i dislike the ps3 because _________" but when people dont even allow other gamers to have their own opinion, its just sad.
i dont understand why its gamer against gamer when it makes more sense to unite against the jack thompsons of the world.

We get it Fernando, WE GET IT, you DON"T LIKE THE PS3. You don't own the console, you don't own any of it's games, and YOU NEVER WILL. So why do come to comment on shit that doesn't affect you in the slightest? But even that would be excusable if your comments themselves weren't utter SHIT. Contribute something other than your troll-ridden tripe.

Oh shush people I see alot worse people than fernando. And I mean come on, how many other people have used this term delaystation and yet you only go after Fernando. It's almost as bad as someone talking about the RROD(You know who the fuck you are, fuckers). Look I know you all have hard-ons for Fernando, but this is almost as pathetic as Fernando's trolling.

Vidikron - I see what you did there. Nice.
I think its pretty sad they haven't got the XMB fully worked into the PS3 yet, but it really isn't that big of a deal when you are using one. Once again, its a nice option, that shouldn't make or break anyone's use of the console.

Everyone makes a big deal about in-game XMB access, but you know I think it more important than that? How about the ability to send voice messages? IMO, that's one of the most convenient things about Live. You can send a voice message at any time on Live and it's so much faster than typing in a message.
Of course, the natural progression from there would be to allow you to do this during a game... but I think voice messages are more useful than simple XBM access during a game. I don't send as many messages on PSN as I do on Live for the simple reason that it's more tedious to have to type them out.

Vidikron, check it out - Wii game with custom music tracks from your SD card. Best Wii game evar???
"Endless Ocean provides Wii owners with something that's been pretty much exclusive Xbox 360 territory until now, custom soundtracks."
and...you can pet sharks. Yeah, really. I know, I was shocked too.

I don't use it for Second Life either. As far as i'm aware,Home isnt even going to be like Second Life, but something entirely different.
But I forgot, you have avatars that walk around,so I guess it must be exactly the same. I suppose Phantasy Star Online was that as well.
I guess we'll just use Joystiq to spew negative comments about other systems we don't own. Sounds like a solid plan, but then again,i've seen nothing else from you anyway so I should have been stupid to expect anything else.

Their motion controls are different as it only uses tilt and vertical where the Wii has the accelerators and the "in and out" motion.
But i'm sure you knew that or else you wouldn't be posting smart-ass replies, right?

in the very same sense as nintendo's motion controls. You think they were the first to make them? That technology has been around for about a decade now, maybe even longer. bottom line everyone everywhere copies everyone else, usually the basic ideas are just expanded on. if it didnt' work like that we'd all be driving Ford's and using muskets in battle

Inventing the tech is only part of the creativity. Applying the tech, creating ways to use the tech, and successfully marketing it to consumers is responsible for most of the remaining creativity. Sony gets slammed not because people believe Nintendo invented motion controls, but they have successfully marketed them, and what appears to be a knee-jerk, "me-too" reaction from Sony is what people don't like about it.

The PS3 doesn't have one of these?
For real?
Wii has it...360 has it...for really real?
Doesn't the PSP even have one?
Or am I like - not on target at all and misunderstanding this like usual?

No,the PS3 has a dashboard like the other systems. It just can't access the features of it from inside a game how the Xbox 360 does with the little blade that pops out. If you want to check messages or receive them, you have to quit the game and goto the dashboard (the "main menu" of the system) and then start the game back up.

Not sure as I don't play online. I assume you have to go back to the dashboard and accept the invite from there.
