CES 2008: PS3 in-game XMB promised this year

All I want to do is listen to music and message/invite my peoples while in game! C'mon Sony!

I mean with Blu-Ray closing in for the win, shouldnt they put their FULL attention to the PS3? Oh yeah, those OLED TVs look damn great too. Pricey though but thats Sony!

I wish they delay this a bit more. The PS3 already has it all (almost) - rumble, the most kickass games line-up ever in 2008, the winning disc format, superior server-based multiplayer thats works all the time and is free to boot, standard hard discs on all units (= no load times) and finally a console that doesnt die half the time - if Sony came out with in-game xmb and unified friends list as well the xbots on this site would commit suicide. Now we wouldnt want that would we?

all i really need to do is be able to check messages or settings while im in a game. i dont need to go the whole XMB. maybe in game music. i think people are making too much of a deal out of it. just let me check my messages without leaving a game completely and ill be good. and i know it can be done since the launch title Resistance can already do it. im not going to type a message in the middle of an online match so it's fine just in the lobby.

This is so old news. In fact XMB bar functionality is already in place for Photo, Video, Music, and any streamed content. Only Games are missing it and some newer ones have it implemented. To be implemented sooner than later for the rest. Good news.
