Today's Summer hype video: Prototype
The marketing machine is beginning to crank out information advertising advermation about this Summer's Prototype. This heavily produced video pulls off the "casual chat with developers" look well. But underneath that grimy, "don't think of this as advertising, we're just friends here" exterior, the sandbox-action game actually looks good. We feel dirty for liking it, but hopefully that's the game convincing us, not the video production. Watch the video after the break, or obey its full HD glory at Gametrailers.

It's a next-gen, (read: current-gen), spiritual sequel to Ultimate Destruction being made without all the restrictions of a licensed game. It doesn't even seem conceivable that this could be anything less than an great game...at the very least, above-average.
Nonetheless, I'm going to do my best to avoid the hype-machine on this one to assure that I don't set unnaturally high expectations...you know, just in case.

Sounds like a solid backstory to me, but the main question is still yet to be answered: will it be fun?

I couldn't watch more than 30 seconds of that, I have no idea what the game will be like, but having a video of developers sitting around saying how unique and revolutionary their product is is crass beyond belief. I hope for their sake that the game can speak for itself better than they can.

Come on, covering the faces of enemy soldiers to give then an intimidating, sub-human vibe? Where have I seen that before? Prototype looks badass...but Blackwatch is a total Combine rip-off. And that's OK. But let's give it up for Valve.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing and was coming into the comments to say that.
Prototype Blackwatch = Half Life 2 Combine
