Whisper Max cooler promises RROD protection

Coming from the zany folks over at Talismoon is a newly updated Whisper Max cooling fan system for your Xbox 360 featuring NITRO SWITCH! They claim that their "higher quality" fan can cool your 360 and prevent RROD from happening all while lighting up your console with three purdy colors. And if by chance your console would red rings after you install the Whisper Max (with NITRO SWITCH), then we guess you'd be screwed since you technically void your warranty while installing the fans. So, we'll leave the decision up to you. Plop down $25 on the Whisper Max (with NITRO SWITCH) while voiding your 360's warranty or use your console's current fan system as is intended.

its a proven fact that ms can't detect 3rd party fans i have this fan installed in my 360. they can only detect mod chips and hacks.

It was stated on xbox-scene that MS could detect 3rd party fans and ban your live account (for tampering with the console) so in addition to the fact you are voiding your warranty this probably isn't a smart thing to do.

DjChad beat me to it. The difference in voltage is detectable over xbl and can result in a ban. shame really, they are nice fans.

If they are that confident in the fan preventing RROD, they would provide a guarantee to replace your console if it did RROD.

I thought that too. But what would stop someone who had a RRoD 360, then buys their product, installs it and claims that it broke after they installed it.

it also sucks that MS would ban you for trying to fix the crappy system they sold you in the first place.

Well as the warranty from MS would cover it being fixed as you hadn't voided the warranty, then I would sooner deal with MS than this company. But it is possible somebody would try to claim a RROD occurred after installing the fan, when it had in fact occurred first.

My disc drive died recently. I paid someone to swap it with another 360 disc drive for me. I didnt feel like waiting 3-4 weeks for microsoft to repair. I wont be banned from Live for that will I?

Not unless the replacement drive has modded firmware. You just wont be able to have MS service it under warranty if it needs future service.

as long as you took it out of another 360 you shouldn't have any problems.

The problems occur when you need to change anything from oem specs, like a different DVD drive.

I think i'll take my chances and wait on the 2 week repair.

That's what I'd do. It's gotten a lot faster apparently now that the main rush to fix systems has blown over. Mine broke literally 3 days before they announced the new warranty setup and even then it took 3 weeks. I managed to live lol.

MS seems to think they have fixed this issue finally anyway. I've not heard terribly much about people still getting back 360s that break yet again... so I almost wonder what the point is. I'd rather just have it fixed properly for free.

Mine just went down a few weeks ago. It took 2 days for the coffin to get to my house and a week and 2 days to get back to me...not bad Microsoft.

Thats bull, if Microsoft decides to install sturdier X-Clamps the RRoD would be non-existent.

I want a NITRO SWITCH for my 360! :o(

Just the other day I was saying, "Y'know. I wish my XBox 360 were even LOUDER than it already is AND had a voided warranty... Hmmm... But how to accomplish both things at once?"

Thats a crock really, MS is NOT detecting fan mods!! Come on now guys get real and use your brains here. It has not been proven that MS is detecting voltage changes. It's only a ridiculous rumor someone started that claimed a customer service rep told them that MS would ban for even fan mods. I personally have been running 12v modded Talismoon fans for almost a year with no issues. I have friends that have 12v mods without issues either so please stop spreading false facts!!!
