We haven't heard much about the DS version of Ubisoft mega smash Assassin's Creed since we learned of its existence back in October, but we've finally had a little light shed on it by a GoNintendo reader who seems to have nabbed the game's box art. Click here for an embiggened version.
We're kind of intrigued by the "Explore a fully-rendered 3D world" part, and a bit perplexed by using the stylus to pickpocket items from unwitting targets. We're also a bit troubled by the name, Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles. We've learned through the years that "Good Game Title: Character Name's Story/Tales/Chronicles/Adventures" is almost always a recipe for sadness. Here's hoping this one proves us wrong.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that in this one, Altair is a thalidomide baby.

By the way... If anyone is interested... I went yesterday to Sears and they have a lot of games on clearence, on a box (brand new, sealed games). And there are a lot of games (not a lot of people buy his games in Sears.
I bought Baten Kaitos for $1.99, Baten Kaitos Origins $2.99, Condemned Criminal Origins $2.99, Eragon 360(for my wife, and easy achievements) 2.99 (it sucks even for that price), Call od Duty 2 $4.99 (not the ugly Platinum Hit), and God Hand or $4.99.
=)

Nice prices there Fernando.
We hit the local KMart & Target(Chicago) every few weeks to see what they have set aside. Often they will have some new releases discounted by half or more for some reason.
I'm curious about this new DS title, I hope its fun. The sword fighting in assassin's creed got a little boring after a while - hopefully the DS will have some changes there.
BTW: Eragon = teh suk

:( The selection at my Sears was the suck. I did get the XBLA Hits disc for $4 though, which is cheaper than either Wik or Outpost Kaloki, both of which are on there.
Thanks for the tip tho, Fernando!

If exploring those 3d worlds turns out to be best-case-scenario and is anything at ALL like exploring the console version's worlds... then wow. This could be a whole lot of fun on the go.
But somehow, I seriously doubt it will be. I just have no faith left in the awesome console game to DS scenario. And Indeed, Fidlious Wong - PODCAST!!!

Assassins’ creed technically speaking is a mind blowing game but in a Normal View,Normal View Dun dun dun the game is so repetitive once you finished one Assassination congrats you have finish them all.
The story personally I believe it didn’t need the whole Sci-fi lemon twist but at least is original, I haven’t finished the game yet but is quite entertaining and is not as sucky as I first say it was, it actually gets better but it repeats itself for example you start with some lame stuff, then some investigation which is necessary I guess(quite dull because the investigation never changes I mean there aren’t new ways to investigate and that’s a waste considering Altair arachnid agility) and then it gets to the actual assassination which is pretty cool because those are the moments when the actual plot kicks in.
I’m still pissed about the whole publicity of the game, it supposed to be some hybrid between Prince of Persia and Hitman but there aren’t any Hitman elements there, is more like a Prince of Persia spin-off which is not bad in fact that’s good but is not the awesomeness it was first advertised.
I would buy a sequel but only if they cut the crap, for example the flags which have 3 purposes 1-Indirectly a way to explore the map and find new paths which can be useful for the actual assassination 2-It obligates the player to appreciate the work of the level designer and the whole team behind Assassins creed which is a snore because gamers want to kill something not admire a virtual scenery, yes it is a visual masterpiece but I just want to play.3-Give the player something to do but it totally fails on that because is even more boring than staring to the virtual scenery, I mean getting 90/100 flags is not hard but those 10 flags missing are b*tches and spending 2 hours finding 10 flags is not my idea of fun, I really don’t know why developers think forcing the player to search for tiny stupid stuff like orbs ,phone numbers etc in huge levels is a good idea, is boring and annoying.
Well to finish this text-wall Assassins’ creed is not bad but I won’t buy a sequel until they improve the game formula and the game is really not that good to buy a DS prequel specially one from Ubisoft. Maybe if they copy the Phantom Hourglass or something I might get the game someday when it is at 1,99$ and includes an ice cream….and a better game…and Belgium(Yahtzee reference FTW)
I wrote this for Nintendo DS fanboy but it doesn't allow me to post it,stupid internet.

I'd get it for the DS if it's well done, considering that I have no next-gen console.

at least it isn't called Assassin's Creed: Daylight Stalker. those DS game names are starting to get annoying.
