[Original headline: "Wal-Mart offers $20 Smash Bros. Brawl pre-orders"]
We know, we know. This Wal-Mart listing for Super Smash Bros. Brawl pre-orders at the bargain price of $19.82 is almost certainly a technical error. But, if you're going to buy the game anyway, we figure there can't be any harm in putting your name and two sawbucks down. Worse case scenario, your order gets canceled. Best case: You save $30.
That said, there is yet a third possibility that's downright mind-blowing. What if this is the actual price? Can you imagine how that would (continue) to move systems? Can you imagine what a sales juggernaut that would be? Sure, the Wii may not need the extra help, but come on, let us have our fantasy until reality brings it crashing down around us, OK?
Update 1: Looks like Wal-Mart is running a major pre-order sale, which also includes reduced prices for upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 titles.
Update 2: Super Smash Bros. pre-order price has been changed to $49.82.
[Thanks, Dalibor]

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and the Lost game are on a 'preorder sale' or 'error' for 29.82 as well...

Looks like it's OVER as of now. I put in my order for Haze and SSBB. Between the time it took for me to leave my cubicle and tell a friend, it went back up to MSRP. My order is in but future clickers will get shafted.

I doubt these orders will go through, but with a mega-retailer like Wal-Mart, the few thousands/millions of dollars lost won't mean a whole lot to their entire income of billions...so it COULD end up being fulfilled. Either way, jump on it before it's gone!

Odds are you'll be paying the other $30 at pickup.
Toys R Us used to do the same, you had to plunk $5 down and pay the rest off. Gamestop also requires a minimum of $5 for reserves.
But i guess it couldn't hurt, it's a shame i don't have a desire to be brawl.... yeah... i know... i'm going to get chewed out in a few posts, but i figured i'd say it now... Brawl dosn't look that good to me right now...

At least you're honest. -shrug-
It's the reason why I bought the system personally(unless METAL GEAR comes on the system in some form other than its entry in 'BRAWL), because I'm not a fan of most games/series Nintendo makes and the majority of the third party release line up has been a big fat load of waggle-gimmick shovelware... so having 'BRAWL is big.

Yeah, i see how it's a big deal, Mele and the original were both great games, but i'm hesitant about the controls on the Wii. Call me old fashioned but i like playing figheters on a "real" controller.

minused for having an opinion. What a bunch of douchebags in this forum here.
I, myself, have never played any of the Brawl's but am looking forward to this one.

Just to hop into the circlejerk around Foxhound...
In addition to being able to use the Wiimote, Wiimote/Nunchuck, Gamecube controllers, and Classic controller, you can also use custom button layouts for any of them, which are exclusive to whatever custom name you choose to play with. You can also store them in your Wiimote for use elsewhere.

Just because this is a chance to throw my opinion I bought the Wii for SSBB alone and all the awesomeness of games like SPM,SMG,Metroid and RE:UC was like adding Ice cream to a Chocolate brownie.
I played the original melee with some guys and it was a lot of fun, basically because it was free for me and was that or playing children card games (yu-gi-oh) and a pompous game called Magic the gathering. I call it pompous because most of the players playing Magic somehow think they are Royal British Gentlemen compared to the players of other card games, somehow truth because those crack babies and those overly aggressive 18 year old f*g* playing yu-gi-oh totally creep me out, in fact I stopped playing for that reason, it was a quit disturbing atmosphere that and because I never manage to get freaking Yata-Garasu.

I believe the term is YOINK... anyway make sure Walmart doesn't have a Price is subject to change clause...Cause until they actually take the money the price could be changed at least with most online stores...

They can only legally adjust the price without telling you or giving you the option to cancel if the price DROPS, not rises. So if you order it for the $20 price, chances are they'll either email to you tell you you're going to be paying the extra $30 or they'll just cancel the order.

Actually slickdeals.net has listed that WalMart has dropped $30 off almost a dozen preorders. I think it's legit.
I bought 3. eBay ftw.
Worst case scenario, I cancel the preorder.

Nintendo will never release this game for $20. That sir is laughable.
To my knowing SSBM is still the #1 selling game on GAMECUBE.
If anything Nintendo could get away with $59.99 price tag since its going to be filled to the brim with excellence and have infinite replay value.

He's referring to the Joystiq article, where Joystiq says it might be Nintendo's idea.
After hearing the Joystiq podcast for the first time, their personal observations/evaluations mean absolutely zilch to me now. Still great place for news though.

After Nintendo gave away unknown numbers of Wiimote jackets just because, you can never tell.
An alternative is that they bundle this game with a nunchuck or classic controller. You do need more than one to get optimum use from it anyway, and it's not the first time they did this.

When I first saw this listing, I got on the horn to the Joystiq investigation crew. They quickly put their minds together and deduced that I am not a quack for noticing it.
Thanks for letting everyone in on this, and check out the rest of teh damn crazy deals (like Haze for $30, DMC4 for $40) and drool.

Tempting but, 20 bucks or not, I'd really rather stick my dick in a garbage disposal than shop at Wal-Mart.

Not to mention when one moves into town all the local business start disappearing... Personally I don't care but I can completely understand someone disliking walmart...

Of course they have Apollo Justice for the DS for $70 and Harvey Birdman for the PS2 for $60......
