Nintendo Power drops details on BioWare's Sonic RPG

While the marriage of the story-heavy RPG architects of BioWare to Sega's speedy azure mascot may seem like a combination too oddball to believe, we assure you -- the same company who made Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic is in fact making a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG for the Nintendo DS. Need proof? French gaming site JeuxFrance.com has early scans of the next issue of Nintendo Power, including a few details about the game, and a handful of intriguing screenshots.

The game, titled Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, will feature eleven playable characters from the Sonic universe, as well as other mainstays from the series, such as chaos emeralds, rotund mustachioed antagonists, and rings. We'll have to wait to see whether the game will feature some BioWare mainstays, such as murderous robots, or opportunities to swap tartar sauce with a member of another species. Oh, wait -- we guess that's a Sonic thing, too.

I have not liked a Sonic game for a long time.

Hopefully BioWare stays true to their attention to detail, and makes tons upon tons of references to previous Sonic titles

I don't think it's possible for Bioware to screw up a game... though, with Sonic, you never know anymore.

i have no idea why ... but i find considerably easier for Nintendo to screw up with SONIC in brawl (only the character, not the game) than bioware screwing up with this

I hope it's the Ivo from the games and sonic movie. He was bad ass. The westren cartoon ivo was gross and not bad ass looking. I'd pick the Orginal Games/Sonic Movie verstion over ANY of his other incarnations.

The watercolor style is their intent, they felt it was the most appealing kind of 2D style

I was never a fan of Bioware.(i don't like their games)But since their using something that like (Sonic), I'll give them a chance just this one time.

I hope it turns out good.(Sonic really needs a good game)

I just don't see the allure of a Sonic RPG. Anyone remember when Sonic was about running really fast through brightly colored 2-D levels?

mario galaxy already has a TPS (third person shooter) feeling xD

but they already choosed sega for a fast game (f-zero gx), square for an rpg (mario rpg) and a basketball game .....

so choosing the right ones to do the right games is one of their best features =)
