And don't for get MGS: The Twin Snakes on the GameCube.

Konami seems to do most of its work for Sony's consoles, yes, but it spreads the love around.

Im sorry, but get your facts straight kid, Solid Snake being on SSBB is Kogima's doing, he requested Snake being on it for SSBM, but it was already too far in development, so they put him on SSBB

Also, the game might be exclusive, but Konami/Kogima have all the rights for the characters....

I still think this game would be awesome for XBLA, the controls and matchmaking, altho I would love it for PSN, since the PS3 is the only console that has made use of K+M, I still don't find the Wiimote comfortable =(

First off, it is Kojima, with a j. Secondly-

Metal gear was made for MSX, then ported to the NES. Then Metal Gear 2 in Japan never came, then we got a fake Metal Gear 2, like how Super Mairo Bros 2 happened. THen years later, Metal Gear Solid, came out for PS1. Then a few years later Metal Gear Solid 2 came out for PS2 and Xbox (a year later, subsistance). Then Metal Gear Solid 1 remake, The Twin Snakes, came out on Gamecube. Then Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater came out for PS2.

Konami owns all of the rights, and they give the power to Kojima to do as he pleases. Everyone, get your facts stright... :-)

007 has to be released for Wii. It is only natural for that to happen. Plus it would be a port from the N64 so you can't compare it to any current FPS. It is an epic game but any game that was produced in 2007 is going to have better AI...

You guys can go argue. I feel up for a game of goldeneye right now. Peace.

I'm glad it's not going to the XBLA. 360 would be a terrible machine to play it on.

Actually my real post goes like this - I hope they don't re-release this on any system. The game was so good back in the day but it has aged terribly and it would be a shame to smash so many rose tinted glasses.

Wax my car when you are done with the nostalgia.

Undoubtedly a fine game at the time, but
today... the ...game... is ...too.....slow

I'd give the game a shot if they could smooth out the controls, and speed up the game play.

I like the game's speed. Among the various reasons I can't get into FPS games is that they're way too fast all the time. You could actually aim in Goldeneye.

am i the only one who reads the actual story? it was NOT a remake but a somewhat new version with updates (new graphics, controls) to match today's games... also PS3 will never get Goldeneye since MS owns Rare and have no reason to even consider such a thing

Best deal for all would be
Xbox 360 gets new updated multiplayer version (no single player)
Wii gets original for VC

Err...that deal kinda gives us Wii owners the short end of the stick. chris already mentioned the ideal deal above. Both wii/360 get goldeneye/Perfect Dark with online multiplayer on wiiware/xbla respectively. It'd be even better if they updated it. You know, all the warnings on how it doesn't age well.

To all who posted: Thanks for the warnings on the whole "goldeneye doesn't age well...at all" I was tempted to ebay it because I still play SSB on the n64 but I think i'll pass.

actually this doesn't leave wii owners with the short end of the stick.. i have a wii and u should know by now that nintendo seems to prefer originals versus upgrades... i'm sure given the opportunity to put goldenye on their dl service they would put the original with no changes made so that's y they should do that and xbox should get the remade version

Hell yea good job Nintendo! I applaud their effort in not getting this available to 360 owners. Rare wishes they were back with them anyways, so what's the problem?

From what I can observe, it seems that way. However, Rare was always about technology, and the Wii doesnt offer that, only controls- and I think Rare would be bummed out a bit honestly. But if it was their choice, I think they would go back to Nintendo.

majority of the people seem to be confused with the story. Nintendo has 0 rights when it comes to lisencing. the only 2 companies with power are rare and activision. What happened is nintendo wanted goldeney for VC (who wants to pay for a rom with nothing new?). Rare says nope, you dont get it. Now rare asks activision (holders of 007 lisenese) if they can remake goldeneye with new maps, onlne multiplayer, and had resolution support. Activision says yes. Nintendo finds out, gets angry that they dont get it, tells activision to call off the lisence. Activision in good terms with nintendo, agrees. Now rare cannot make the game anymore. Rare purposes nintendo release VC and XBLA gets its remake. Nintendo refuses, knowing full well a remake on xbla will hurt their strait port sales on VC.

So in the end, this is 100% nitendos fault. I was a huge nintendo fan int he past but now i dispise them. I want my online goldeneye damn it.

The good news, Rare is most likely making PD64 for XBLA remake, which they hold 100% of the rights too. In a way if they do make this, we all win cause pd64 techincally is a better game, with 12 player support, more modes, maps and weapons. The only thing that kileld the original was bad framerate, which would be solved with the power of the 360. And since rare is making a perfect dark zero 2 (or sequel whatever you want to call it), Im sure a pd64 remake on xbla will be out around that time.

Im still wondering why people think nintendo holds any rights at all to the original goldeneye, because they hold nothing. goldeneye will never come out for VC alone. It either goes to nintendo and Ms or just MS. Theres no way to get it on just nintendo.

Your wrong.

Nintendo does not own the 007 rights, thats Activision/Blizzard; Nintendo also did not revelop the game. HOWEVER, they published it. Do you know what that means? They have the right to publish it again on any system they want. They have a law binding contract. THey connot publish it again without the 007 rights, or the developer's consent though.

This is a missed bag of who will benifit from this.

I think personally, it should be on the VC, and on XBLA. But the XBLA version should be redone with more current standards.

I have a feeling that a re release would spell bad news for the game. It was awesome on the N64, a legend. Let it live the rest of it's days as one.

Putting it on both is easier said then done.

MS and Nintendo would probably release it for the same price, $15, just because they can charge whatever. The difference is Nintendo is smart enough to realize no one really wants Goldeneye from 12-13 years ago, they want a new one with online play. Sadly Nintendo is too dumb to do that, so they won't let MS get away with that and make more money than them.

Man this game kicked @ss back then! I'm pretty sure MS will be able to release it on XBLA soon.

I bet they will also release other Rare N64 games like Banjo 1-2, conker etc.

Conker was remade... but Nintendo was the publisher during the N64 era for Rare- so it's easier said then done.

I would buy this game just to support Rare. It is dated. Even with new online additons, it is dated. The AI, textures, and control scheme is dated.

Since MS bought Rare, they have had hard times- and damn I love their games. So I would buy this in support of them.

Who'd have thought it. A port of a Nintendo game based off a Sony property would have trouble getting licenced on a Microsoft console.

Actually Conker was one of the few N64 Rare games that was published by Rare themselves NOT Nintendo!

Nintendo published Donkey Kong, Banjo, 007, Killer Insticnt Gold, and more.

Nintendo had Rare publish Conker themselves because of the content.

That is why M$ could remake Conker with no problem.

For Banjo and 007 Nintendo owns those games, they might not own Charectors though, so no one can re-publish those games unless a agreement is found.

If you really want to play Goldeneye and have a Source game, there's that. It's a pretty good recreation of it, and you don't have to mess with an N64 controller.
