Apparently fighting giant alien bugs on a snowy world isn't just a man's job anymore. Famitsu reports that the PS3 version of Lost Planet will allow gamers to play as Luka, the leader of the Snow Pirates from the original game.
Additionally, the PS3 version will also include Joe, Mega Man, and Dead Rising's Frank West, who were originally playable in the PC version. Hey, remember when Lost Planet was a 360-exclusive? So that lasted a while, huh?

All I got from this was:
"Dead Rising for PS3 CONFIRMED!!!"
But seriously, it's cool, I won't buy due to my lack of interest in the game though.

Best multiplayer experiences out there? I don't think so. That would require (at the very least) that there was someone other than yourself actively playing it online (or else it would just be online single player).
Really though, this is more of a release for Japan than for the US. This is a game targeted squarely at all of the Japanese gamers that don't own an Xbox 360, yet want to play this game. I can't imagine that there is anyone out there in the US that has yet to buy this game on either 360 or PC, but that wants to play it on PS3.

The demo on Live was fun as hell, so was the special demo I won here on joystiq. But, for some reason, I couldn't enjoy the full retail version as much as I did the demo. Perhaps it was because I didn't know anyone personally with the game so it was pretty much just me playing alone and that's never really fun. The game has a real arcady feel though, which is great. Lots of pretty explosions and mechs.

....Or someone who doesn't own a 360 or plays games on a PC. Everyone doesn't have enough money to buy 2 consoles or a PC with all the fixings. Those school bills don't stop coming even if you change your address.

@Crono
Like I said I can only afford one system, that means no 360 or PC with all the fixings.

i'm a "diehard" Playstation 3 fanboy, but i wouldn't touch Lost Planet with a 50' pole.
i'd much rather have Monster Hunter 3 on the PS3 than Lost Planet.
thanks for nothing, Capcom.
and for the record, i *HAVE played Lost Planet, on the X Box 360, and it's a mediocre 3rd Person Shooter, that's all.
there are better games worth playing on the 360 and Playstation 3 than this.

If you have played Lost Planet, just so we're clear you did think the grappling hook was cool right? Haha, I got bored of the game honestly but grappling hook = win.
The game wouldn't have been traded towards Crackdown if one was able to use the grappling hook while running. Pretty lame how you had to stop moving to use it.

I have often thought of getting the 360version, but I just don't think I could be bothered to play it, so I didnt. And I definately wont be picking up the PS3 version.

Some of the comparison shots on Neogaf have raised concerns that the graphics are not up to snuff in the port, either being lower quality textures or upscaled from a lower res. I hope neither of these are the case. At this point in time 360 to PS3 conversions and cross-platform titles should have virtually identical functionality.

This is a good game that could have been great, if not for a few missteps (aiming problems, nerfed-grapple, knockdown loops). Regardless, it's worth picking up if you're willing to see it through until the end. Most of the people I know who bought it, gave up about halfway through, missing out on some of the best levels.
Plus, it'd be cool to play as Mega Man or Frank West...not that I'm going to be re-buying this.

I bought this game for PC and I have to say it was fun as hell. The gameplay reminded me of "what if Nintendo made a third-person shooter?". Except it has beautiful graphics and awesome boss battles. Only singleplayer game I've actually replayed multiple times in ages.
The multiplayer was fun as hell... when you could actually find a server. Probbaly not as big a problem on consoles, but sucked on PC.

I have this game on 360. Its a really good game. The graphics, giant boss battles, explosions, aliens, mechs, online, weaopons, music, etc. is all done really well. I just didnt like the cut scenes, they were just too long. Anyway I beat it and then went online and had some good times the problem with this game is that it came out at GoWs prime. Peaple are hating on this game like its garbage but its not. Its a cool game IMO and worth checking out.

Gotta love when an awesome xbox/360 game goes to PS2/PS3. It was awesome when it's exclusive, but as soon as it gets ported to a Sony console it all the sudden was never awesome at all....?
So make up your minds. Is this game good or not. From the slideshow-speed demo on PC that I tried I can at least say it wasn't BAD. If this releases at $30 I'll bite, but at $60 I can wait.

First of all stop the fanboy bitching, totally unneeded. Lost Planet was a pretty good game, amazing visuals and great boss battles. A shame ps3 owners had to wait a year later for it, it prob won't sell well at all.

The release price is going to be $39.99. I enjoyed it on the 360 and I'll pick it up for the Ps3, because of the lower price and exclusive characters.

Doesn't matter. 360 and PS3 are one in the same. A year from now noone will know the difference. They will both reside at the bottom of the market, ripping shares from each others mouths in redundancy while Wii continues to separate itself above.
And anyone that votes this down is a fanboy in denial. While I may be a Nintendo fanboy, I never once proclaimed GC to be anything but a third rate console. These are just the facts, excpet my future predictions, which are facts in pending status.

I see you own a PS360.
Who cares if a game for 360 goes over to PS3 or vise versa? This has always happened and will be happening ALOT in the future. PS3 and 360 are after the EXACT SAME market share. Two consoles nipping at the same piece of the pie while the 3rd console consumes the rest of it. And people still think Wii wont end up on top in 5 years...

dude...are you serious? sure the system itself is selling more, but have you seen the wii's attach rate?
and while these crossplatform games are on ps3 and 360, they are NOT on wii. developers hardly wanna touch the thing cuz of low attach rates and party games. they are getting closer, but outside of nintendo's games, theres isnt much there. can it change? yes.
and i really dont give a shit about market share, if the games i want are on 360, i will play it whether it had a 90% market share or 2%.
wasnt this thread about lost planet?

When I read that one of the playable characters was Joe, I thought it meant Viewtiful Joe and got a bit excited. Turns out it's just another Lost Planet character who's also named Joe...
