Microsoft can't talk about Live's status
Sometimes, news is just dumb. You can try to spice it up or cover it in jam, but it won't change anything. It'll just make the news all sticky. Take, for example, Major Nelson's recent revelation that Microsoft can't talk about Xbox Live's status thanks to a lawsuit currently pending in Texas. You know what that is? Dumb. We're not even sure who the dumb party is, the legal system for gagging Microsoft, or Microsoft for not just buying Texas and settling this old school. Boy, first The Alamo and now this. Will Texas ever stop letting us down?

I never liked you before Fernando, but now that I know you're from Texas, I think your an alright guy. Keep representing the Lone Star State. (no sarcasm intended, I'm also from Texas)

How is any of this news? Microsoft never disclosed any reasons before why Live had problems other than to say "it was issue on top of issue". Now that the lawsuit is out, all it has done is prevent them from being vague to saying nothing at all.
Nothing on top of nothing is still nothing.

Its nice to see you live in Texas and are from Mexico, just like me, Fernando.

I agree acctually...
I havn't been able to get on XBL for a good month now, i still can't get on...

This is just another strike against Texas, as far as I am concerned. I would be all for setting a string of charges off to release Texas from the American continent, and into the gulf as a huge island, but I don't think Mexico deserves to be the only country attached to it.

I think that´s the problem. If they stuck to oil beef and electronics, it would be alright. But they had to go and try to lead us somewhere and that´s where we all figured out just how upside down the lone star is.
As for the MS gag, thats just what happens with any lawsuit or investigation - they always shut up about it because anything they say can be used in the court of law blah blah blah. You know, Law & Order
punkasscrab @ Jan 14th 2008 1:47PM
I play Texas Hold em more than all other 360 games combined but it is broken now because of live. When Live crashed you lose. I sepnt years earining millions and now it crashed every single game. For the first time I hate my 360 and Live and wish PS3 had better games. Why can't they just fix it? This shows Microsofts (the software giant)incompetance more than anything they have ever done.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jan 14th 2008 1:49PM
note to mexico: feel free to take texas back any time.

I think this is more about a vocal minority than a huge issue anymore. I think a huge chunk of the problems are resolved because for the past week I haven't had any issues with Live. In fact, just yesterday I was on the Burnout Paradise demo playing online with 7 other people. They're obviously fixing something.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 14th 2008 2:37PM
I haven't had a problem in 2 weeks. I was actually under the impression that it was fixed already.
Vidikron (FU) @ Jan 14th 2008 3:29PM
@baby sea tuna
Nope, still going on for a lot of us. I had issues all weekend. What sucks is every time I turn the 360 on it sits at a blank dash for quite along time trying to connect to Live. It does odd things too. For example, while it's trying to connect it will sometimes pop up the message telling me how many friends are online, but when it's finished trying to connect it will show that I'm not online. So apparently it was able to connect long enough to tell me how many friends were online, but this it disconnects.
If this keep up much longer MS is going to owe me more than 1 game. Thankfully PSN still works perfectly. I've mostly been playing Warhawk recently because Live has turned into such a turd.

they should try rebooting

Zertoss @ Jan 14th 2008 1:59PM
CTRL+ALT+DEL those servers.
eugene @ Jan 14th 2008 3:08PM
ctrl+alt+delete? WTF, you mean the LIVE servers area bunch of DOS boxes? No wonder the damn things keep crashing. Maybe they forgot to add emm386.exe to the config.sys file?
Mr Khan @ Jan 14th 2008 3:46PM
It begs the question as to whether LIVE servers are Windows-based or Linux-based
Bladev1 @ Jan 14th 2008 4:36PM
I had the same problem too, I would turn on my xbox and it would tell me how many friends i had online but show I wasnt connected, I thought "Thats weird", so I put in Halo 3 and when the game loaded it said Bladev1 signed into xbox live. Havent had a problem since! so to every one having this issue just put in Halo 3, and if you dont have it, go buy it!
Zsavior @ Jan 14th 2008 1:52PM
Ok Since my comment was ate, by joystiq, let me try again. I don't own an xbox360 so can't people with live service just cancel their accounts, rather than go through this law suit. I mean wouldn't massive amount of people canceling teach MS an even bigger lesson?
Undead Priest @ Jan 14th 2008 2:09PM
Good luck of going through the nightmare of canceling your LIVE account.
A lawsuit is a better path.
Vader582 @ Jan 14th 2008 1:53PM
Where's the outrage for MS and the botched $50 service we're paying for? Damn near a month and XBL runs like crap...and this whole "10 million new XBL subscribers during the Holidays" excuse sounds like utter BS. Even if it was true, they know how many consoles are out on the streets. Prepare! If this were a free service or the outtage was only for a short time, I'd have a little more patience. But this situation has been going on for too long and now the lack of new info from Maj. Nelson imho is just a cop-out on MS's part. Frankly I don't think they know what has gone wrong...
Luke @ Jan 14th 2008 2:00PM
I have no outrage because I have no outage. My Live works fine, as does that of all my friends (both around and away from my geographical area). It seems like the people who don't have it make noise about that and the people who do have it don't say anything cause we are off playing on it.
ill trooper @ Jan 14th 2008 2:58PM
Luke - you do know that when you're asleep at night people on the other side of the world have daylight, right?
My point is, your experience may not be the same as someone else's... In particular, it sounds like your LIVE experience is still OK. But you can understand that others are experiencing trouble, no?
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jan 14th 2008 3:38PM
I'd like to think the reason why there is no outrage is because a majority have enough common sense to realize that shit happens, even if you pay for it. Luckily Live is working for me and I hope that everyone else who's suffering through this will be able to go back on live soon.
Co @ Jan 14th 2008 1:59PM
Can we return Microsoft as well?
Zertoss @ Jan 14th 2008 2:00PM
