I feel sorry for Texans. And having dated one, I know firsthand what they have been breeding over there. This chick was utterly psycho. She was the type where I was worried that after breaking up with her she would come after me with a piece of rebar or something.

But what do I have to complain about, Arizona isn't much better.

If you ask me, the lawsuit is just a ploy prepared by Microsoft SO they wouldn't have to talk about it, and the lawsuit will simply vanish, and people will forget.
Just like I half-suspect the free game not to really come, but instead there'll just be an already planned free game a few months down the line, and if people ask, MS will just say that is it. People will defend Microsoft, people will forget, and absolutely NOTHING will change.

So basically, the gaming industry's Ronald McDonald can no longer forward the PR line from Microsoft's Marketing Relations Chief?

Wow, what a loss...

Honestly - and this is coming from a Xbox 360 owner - with all the BS that Microsoft has inflicted upon their own consumers as of late (Red Ringed consoles, half-ass warranty, Xbox Live DRM BS, and now sever issues to Xbox Live that should have been fixed weeks ago); I'm not feeling too sorry about the guys in Redmond Washington being sued by a bunch of keystone lawyers in Texas.

"Will Texas ever stop letting us down?"

Uh ... Texas was part of Mexico when the battle at the Alamo was fought. Maybe it was "you", being the rest of the then United States, that let Texas down?

But yeah, this dopey lawsuit is completely unwarranted. Methinks the stooges that filed it, as well as their legal representatives, will quickly realize as much and withdraw their complaint.

Unlikely. We Texans are a stubborn bunch and will fight a battle to the bitter end, even when we know we're going to lose.

See, Texas revolted at one point previous to the one that succeeded, and they tried to establish a "Green Flag Republic" in which they had America's help. America, however, backed off once they learned that the revolting Texans were trying to establish an independent state

That's why America didn't even try to help in the 1830's revolution

Wait, hasn't MS have the money to just buy the whole Texas from America?

After all the US bought Alaska from Russia to keep the Canadians surrounded in case they're up to something.

I' sure they would sell it for a low price. Also there would be less Mexicans coming in, as Microsoft would hire them in their 360 factories :)

It's not like Microsoft was telling us anything anyway. They wouldn't even 'fess up about the issue. Also - if you read their "free game" offer closely, that was a treat for us for supporting them and was not an apology in any way.

Agreed. MS has been tight lipped about this whole situation from day one, even before the lawsuit. Sure, MajorNelson had been able to tell us they are working on it...blah, blah, blah. Whatever. Tell us what is broken...don't give us some BS about LIVE being overwhelmed.

Their excuse of the Christmas boom just doesn't cut it with me. MS was in better position than anybody else to know how many new consoles were in the wild. Why didn't they plan accordingly? Simply unbelievable, seeing as how LIVE is still jacked up most of the time. Many of us are still having problems with very slow load times for the system blades, and on top of it, multiplayer games seem to be far more laggy since late December than they ever were before. In short, LIVE is still experiencing major problems, but according to MS, LIVE is "Up and Running."

If only the PS3 had any games I was interested in.

Why are you all blaming Texas here?

The only people stopping Nelson from talking are Microsoft's lawyers. There's no gag order here.

They are afraid that Nelson's words will be used against them in court.

Here's a tip MS. How about you just get Live working and keep it that way? There's no way saying "Live is working" when it IS working is going to boomerang on you in court.

I also don't get why we are blaming Texas, MS touts xbl as a big reason why Xbox360 is worth it over other systems. Then the service goes out and they expect to keep their money and say "Oh well just wait till it is done"

But then again this is a videogame blog, gamers put up with this crap all the time. Something goes wrong, and the game makers act as if they are doing the gamer a favor by fixing or patching it, and the gamer eats it up. This sort of response would not work out side of the video gamers world, as MS is seeing now. You brag your system is a complete gaming experience for everybody for X amount of dollars out the box it better well be or expect blow back.

Only people at a video game blog would expect consumers who have paid for something to put up with a lack of service and be happy with it, then make fun of the people who try and do something about it. DO I feel it is worth a 15 million dollar lawsuit, hells no, would MS learn a lesson if they did nothing Of course not. Neither the people in the industry or their fans see them as doing anything wrong, instead they insult Texans, and pout about not hearing Major Nelson.

In New York I subscribe to Cablevision, if your service goes out for an hour and up they credit you for missed service and time. I know from experience, so tell me how in gaming media and fanbase minds the service should go out and all they offer is a free game. But I guess that is just us crazy non gamers and our wild ideas of entitlements when we pay for something.

Wow, first Engadget does the awesome "1984" reference, and now Joystiq is bashing Texans. This was indeed a good day for Weblogs, Inc.!

Er...back on topic: Funny how Live didn't crash when the 360 launched and everyone was creating or converting Live accounts. That had to be close to the same traffic as now, right?

Did MS fire all the engineers who've heard of "load balancing"?

Excuse me? Texas "letting you down"? Again?

Texas kicked butt at the Alamo, and gave you Six Flags, good food, good times, and Chuck Norris.

Really, it's all the Northerners that move down here that embarrass and dishonor Texas's good name.

How did Texas let you down at the Alamo. It was only like 100 people in the Alamo who killed about 200 and wounded 400 while being boxed in the Alamo.
