Team Fortress 2 to get 'Badlands' map remake, medic tweaks

New changes are coming to Team Fortress 2. Speaking to Shack News, Valve's Robin Walker reconfirmed that two new maps will be coming in the next two months for the PC version, including a remake of the TF Classic map Badlands. Walker couldn't confirm if those maps would arrive on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

Walker also said that modifications to the medic class are coming soon, possibly before the maps. Although unspecified, Walker said, "It's a large scale modification to the core of the game. It'll debut in a limited fashion through the Medic first, but it'll be affecting all classes eventually." Our guess? They're taking away the Medic's ability to heal - boy, would that change the game! But seriously, they'll probably just put a floating sign over medics that reads "shoot me first."

My guess is that they are introducing the Medic's grenade, the Holy Hand Grenade.

I am not joking. There are grenade models still in TF2 from development, including one shaped like the HHG from Monty Python/Worms.

Plus this is the only change off the top of my head that can apply to all classes.

If you remember in the trailers the Demoman had a dynamite detpack, as in TFC.

The Pyro and Soldier still have visible grenades on the character models.

TF2 is still fun but in the XB360 there aren't enough matches but is the price to pay,at least I don't have to lisent to American or British teenagers saying f*g or the N word every 5 seconds or so.

I've been playing TF2 and COD4 every week since their release. TF2 is simply a lot of fun. And new maps would go a long way towards adding more reply value.

The Medic/Soldier/heavy combo is one of the cheapest ways to win any capture game,that and a team of pure scouts but that only applies in maps like Well and Hydro if the opposing team is dumb.

Yet sometimes the M/H combo is the only way to win and is not a broken combo.TF2 is the most balanced game I ever played other than Guildwars but unlike Guildwars TF2 is actually fun.

I can't really see why the medic would need a fix, if you ask me the Heavy is the only character that needs a tweak because the chain gun doesn’t carries enough ammo but mostly because he is too slow and with spies and snipers being the favorite characters in the game is risky to play as a Heavy unless you have a Medic with you or Engineers building teleporters every 3 minutes.

I had a little HDD crash and had to redownload TF2 (along with the id super pack and GTA collection).

Frig me it was a bad few days. TF2 is God. I just hope they don't break what I've put non-stop weeks into.

I suspect the change they're eluding to for the medic is a fraction of a point for a percentage of health healed. They've eluded to doing something similar with the pyro, by awarding him a fraction of a point for every player they ignite.

Badlands was one of my favorite maps in classic and I'm looking forward to a remake. I just hope they don't bastardize it the way they did with Well and make it a CP map.

They're making it a CP map.

However, I'd be willing to bet that the other map they're releasing will be a CTF map.

Just read the details. Hopefully it's not a linear map, but rather a new one similar to Granary or Wolf. The linear maps (well, granary, lazytown on occasion) are so freaking boring to me!

Let's hope the other is a CTF as well...there's a severe shortage of decent flag maps. Still can't believe they only released the game with ONE ctf map.

Actually medics do get fractions of points for healed health below 100%. I believe its 1 point for every 325 points of health healed if the player is below 100% health. Boosting doesn't give points.

But seriously though, TF2 is quite good as it is and its quite balanced with all the right tactics. I hope they don't significantly overhaul the medic and suddenly make his syringes give the other players AIDS.
