Call of Duty 4 engages Mac OS X this May
Continuing its Mac OS X relationship with Activision, Aspyr has announced they'll be publishing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for Mac OS, available this May for the regular asking price of $49.95. The press release doesn't mention whether the Mac OS release will be a native port of the PC release or wrapped in Transgaming's Cider technology (similar to EA's just announced Spore release). We'll check in with Aspyr at Macworld and get some more details for y'all.

You know what the glory of having a Mac AND a PC?
When your PC is slapping you in the face saying "NO CALL OF DUTY 4 FOR JOO!" you go to your mac, download it, put it on your external hard drive, and, Whulah. No more bitchee computer cause now you just transfer. Well, unless you Mac explodes in a firery Hellball. Then it suck for joo and you PC mocks you more for defying it...
NATO_Duke @ Jan 15th 2008 3:03PM
I bet that Mac gamer guy is gonna love the intense multiplayer...once someone else comes around.
Mr.ESC @ Jan 15th 2008 3:04PM
Macs with actual games? woah you took your sweet time apple.
Animagnum @ Jan 15th 2008 3:14PM
Where the hell did you come from? 1998? The whole "Macs don't have any games" bit is old. Go troll under some other bridge.
Mr.ESC @ Jan 15th 2008 3:22PM
First it was a compliment.
Second I was to busy playing games in my PC to play whatever the hell the mac had (peggle existed in 1998?).
But seriously the mac had games in 1998?, could you please enlight me? Because other than the now famous Marathon series and maybe PC ports (solitaire?) I never heard of any other Mac game.
Animagnum @ Jan 15th 2008 3:27PM
Blizzard has made several games for the Macintosh. I guess they aren't that big of a company and most of their games suck anyway, so who cares right? I mean, Starcraft is basically just solitaire with fancy graphics.
I don't recall mentioning Peggle in my comment.
Mr.ESC @ Jan 15th 2008 3:35PM
You kind of took to long to check wikipedia.
But you got me there, starcraft is truly a great game and a great mac exclusive...oh wait.
(*cough Pc ports *cough)
Animagnum @ Jan 15th 2008 3:44PM
Yeah, I had to check Wikipedia to find out that Blizzard has always supported the Macintosh. You are totally right.
When did I say that Starcraft was Mac exclusive? You are horrible at arguing. You keep putting words in my mouth because that's the only way you can come up with ways to dispute my comments. Straw arguments.
NATO_Duke @ Jan 15th 2008 3:53PM
Why are you guys bothering to argue about this.
Mr.ESC @ Jan 15th 2008 5:32PM
I was just saying that I'm glad that COD4 find its way to the mac but Animagnum here started to cry fanboy.
Then I just started to piss him off and is quite funny because fanboy defense/attack arguments are so stupid that is actually entertaining for a while.
Mike @ Jan 16th 2008 3:00PM
No, let us be honest Mr.ESC, you have been owned three times now so quit making things up in an attempt to reserve your already lost respect and integrity.
Mat Lloyd @ Mar 17th 2008 6:38AM
How far behind is Mr. ESC? A Mac with Games....errrr there's loads out and thankfully the mac games market is flooded with crap. Just the ones worth porting.
Shagittarius @ Jan 15th 2008 3:05PM
Its not a game platform without Peggle.
smoke_tetsu @ Jan 16th 2008 3:07AM
There is a Peggle for mac. ;P
Grant @ Jan 15th 2008 3:06PM
you could run it on your new mac book air*!
*optical drive not included
Josh* @ Jan 30th 2008 11:12AM
GTFO
Grant @ Jan 30th 2008 2:12PM
no, you.
upz @ Jan 15th 2008 3:08PM
I thought guys with Macs were too busy growing soul patches and making fun of fat guys in business suits to play games.
sifer2400 @ Jan 15th 2008 3:10PM
lol sounds about right Love and Peace man, the soul of the game lol crackpots
Mr.ESC @ Jan 15th 2008 3:17PM
I vote you up but not only for the comment but for the Loco Roco avatar.
Out of topic: Sony is freaking stupid for not exploiting Loco Roco properly, if Sony founded a Loco Roco game created by LC team and insomniac for the Ps3 I would buy the damn thing in a heartbeat.
If Loco Roco was Nintendo property you can bet all your sweet bacon Loco Roco would have his own 3D Plat former,2 DS games with his own mini game spin-off and it would be in Smash.
Jevanzz @ Jan 15th 2008 3:30PM
Mr.Esc, that's exactly what Nintendo would do, take a great game/franchise, and run it into the ground, creating X amounts of spin-offs, all of low-quality with no real soul.
Hating commence!
upz @ Jan 15th 2008 4:28PM
Possibly true, but I think it's mainly a question of audience demographics. I was in Asia during the launch of LocoRoco. Sony marketed the crap out of that title and still, nobody bought it. The demand for a cutesy PSP game just isn't there. Then again, this was before the redesign and the new pastel colors. How well Patapon sells will be telling.
Obie @ Jan 15th 2008 3:09PM
Good for them! Now where is my patch for the 360 IW?
Patrick @ Jan 15th 2008 3:32PM
wats wrong, i play just fine
mcatrage @ Jan 15th 2008 3:14PM
Cross platform between PC and Mac would be interesting. Do all those gamer mice work on macs?
ill trooper @ Jan 15th 2008 4:01PM
If it's USB it works... I'm getting twitchy with a logitech MX518 right now on my Mac.
kojo87 @ Jan 15th 2008 5:40PM
thats what im hoping for. i might go buy this game now that i might be able to harass Mac fanbois while virtually killing them.
"So what kind of GPU are you running? oh you don't know what a GPU is? you can go check after i snipe you in the face!"
Brucie B @ Jan 15th 2008 3:17PM
Gaming, Macs, Who cares, I Want some NEW MAPS!!!
xFenixKnightx @ Jan 15th 2008 3:54PM
Yes please!!!! New Maps FTW!!!!
Marty @ Jan 15th 2008 3:25PM
So does the '4' in 'Call of Duty 4: Mac' represent the total number of people you'll play online with, or what?
xFenixKnightx @ Jan 15th 2008 3:53PM
ZING!!
James @ Jan 15th 2008 11:03PM
No it represents how many game are currently ported to the mac.
Lol jks, I'm a hardcore PC fanboy that switched to mac and I'm loving it, All of you who don't like it can stfu and gtfo because I don't care.
Sweet Tooth @ Jan 15th 2008 3:57PM
A lot of games for Mac OS have been popping up lately - COD 4, Spore, Need For Speed Carbon, Unreal Tournament 3 (cming soon) to name a few. I think what is driving this trend is the introduction of Cider which is made possible by the Intel hardware in contemporary Mac computers.
Aaron @ Jan 15th 2008 4:17PM
It will be a native port, Aspyr doesn't use Cider, they have their own tools.
Raikage (Wii FC 5508 0487 4434 0992) @ Jan 15th 2008 5:14PM
This is a triumph for those who have Macs!
On this day I will mark: HUGE SUCCESS!
wickedpheonix @ Jan 15th 2008 5:31PM
Not surprised by this, the other COD games came to the Mac too about 6 months after their PC release (so COD3 doesn't count). Wouldn't buy it anyways though, highly disappointed in their Guitar Hero 3 PC implementation because they can't get any DLC on GH3 PC - meaning here, if IW patches the game its going to take like a month for Mac gamers to get the patch and resume cross-platform play.
And yes, it will most probably be a native port - Aspyr and other old-school Mac developers don't use tools like Cider.
Sesur @ Jan 15th 2008 8:48PM
honestly, who gives a shite?
Josh* @ Jan 30th 2008 11:16AM
Honestly? I do. Because booting into Windows to play my crack is a PITA. I'd actually buy the Mac version
bob-e @ Jan 15th 2008 10:50PM
Getting real games on a Mac is a huge step for apple.
Now if only there was a way to do it without overpaying for hardware by %40...wait, there is. It's called the PC.
ThornedVenom @ Jan 16th 2008 1:19AM
It's called industrial design, something I don't get neither.
ThornedVenom @ Jan 16th 2008 1:20AM
LOLZ but what bout directx10?!! xD
smoke_tetsu @ Jan 16th 2008 3:05AM
If it's Aspyr you can bet that it wont be Cider. They're not too keen on it and feel that their in house porting tools do a better job.
smoke_tetsu @ Jan 16th 2008 3:06AM
UTIII and GoW when they come will also not be Cider games.
Lestat @ Jan 20th 2008 6:41AM

What price lists are you looking at?
The G5 I have cost a grand and my Fiancé has ditched her PC as it cannot handle her HD Vid files like a Mac does. You get what you pay for!.
Think I'll stick with a mac. Well I have been using them since 1984 and logged thousands of hours playing games on-line!
