i think anyone who's managed to pick up open-box hard drives or other components for a third the price that anywhere else might be selling them would dissagree with your assessment of microcenter as "two-bit"... yeah, it's no gamespot (but that's not a bad thing).
Christopher Grant @ Jan 15th 2008 10:56AM
It's no IGN either ... ohh, you meant Gamestop? ;-)
NATO_Duke @ Jan 15th 2008 11:03AM
+1 to Grant for the laugh. Good eye.
alex @ Jan 15th 2008 11:42AM
touche :)
?????? @ Jan 15th 2008 10:41AM

Christopher Grant @ Jan 15th 2008 11:04AM

ThornedVenom @ Jan 16th 2008 1:51AM
He didn't just get banned, he got Rock Banned.
Ignatius @ Jan 15th 2008 10:42AM
My wallet... it aches!
ShortFuse @ Jan 15th 2008 10:42AM
March 8th would mean even GTA4 is coming out before Brawl. :/
JAH75157 @ Jan 15th 2008 10:43AM
yeah what alex said. best computer store ever.
oxidative @ Jan 15th 2008 10:49AM
Target has been taking pre-orders for a couple weeks with March 08 as the expected release time frame.
jgressleyjr @ Jan 15th 2008 10:52AM
Hey, Mayfield Heights is in my back yard! I'm sure I'll end up getting this from Goozex or on some sort of deal. GTA is fun, but its not one of my favorites...
NATO_Duke @ Jan 15th 2008 10:59AM
I dont think that Micro Center is the best source of gaming news. Yet their gaming department at the Chicago location is a lot nicer these days.
samfish @ Jan 15th 2008 10:59AM
Haha - I've been to that exact store dozens of times.
schwal @ Jan 15th 2008 11:07AM
I agree that Microcenter (one word), while not the biggest chain, is great. In my opinion it is the best bricks and mortar computer store, particularly now that Compusa went out of business. Even so there gaming department is mediocre at best so take their date with a grain of salt.
robert @ Jan 15th 2008 11:07AM
screw the GTA IV, i'm going to camp out for some of those sweet gaming gloves.
J @ Jan 15th 2008 12:16PM
My thoughts exactly.
Fullmetal Salchemist @ Jan 15th 2008 11:13AM
Gamestop's computers have GTAIV listed as 3/4/07 and Smash Bros. as 2/23 for release dates.
Fullmetal Salchemist @ Jan 15th 2008 11:16AM
I should read all the posts on the page before replying. SSB delayed again.
chris @ Jan 15th 2008 11:21AM
Don't you think Nintendo delayed Smash to compete directly with the impending release of GTAIV? I'm just sayin'...the weekend of March 8/9 will be spent indoors.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jan 15th 2008 12:06PM
that would be a very dumb decision on nintendo's part. The internet crowd makes it seem like SSB will sell epic amounts, but keep in mind none of the others have sold on that scale.
GTA4, including the fact it's multiplatform now, will cause a frenzy worldwide as people scramble to get it. It's a much more well known franchise to everyone (casuals included) and did much better than any previous SSB. It will likely have 10 million sold worldwide between ps3 and 360 in a couple months.
hvnlysoldr @ Jan 15th 2008 4:44PM
Super Smash Bros Melee is still the best selling GCN title. With a whopping 6 million in the US.
Saneless @ Jan 15th 2008 11:40AM
THere's also one in Columbus. Only 15 minutes away from me :)
Chuck-fn-norris @ Jan 15th 2008 11:51AM
Who is Micro-Center? Here's an idea i'll run a bogus ad and "leak" it to the gaming press to get the techie demographic to visit my site or my store. Free Advertising!!! I'm so smart for tricking these dumb kids...
Farseer (GDI) @ Jan 15th 2008 12:11PM
For all of you crapping on Microcenter in this thread - seriously, you have no idea what you're talking about.
Sure, I don't buy games there, but they are the best place to pick up PC parts if you don't have the time (or patience) to wait for something to ship from Newegg.
I can't think of another place in the Greater Kansas City area where I could pick up a IDE/Raid PCI controller card and two rounded 36" IDE cables (like I just did this weekend) without having to wait for them to ship via special order. Also, if a fan goes out, bingo - quick trip to Microcenter, and you have a new fan with minimal PC downtime. Also, you can get OEM HDs, cheap flash memory, the list goes on.
/end rant
tmacairjordan87 @ Jan 15th 2008 12:17PM
you mean there's people and places in kansas??
sorry i couldn't resist the urge
Farseer (GDI) @ Jan 15th 2008 2:22PM
There aren't many, which is exactly why it is nice to have a Microcenter! :)
Abscissa @ Jan 16th 2008 6:26AM
"Also, if a fan goes out, bingo - quick trip to Microcenter"
Unless you're unlucky enough to need a 70mm fan (long depressing story... but then again, they were still better than anyone else around)
gti443 @ Jan 15th 2008 12:18PM
Micro Center has gotten alot better as far as gaming and gaming accessories, at least in their Tustin, CA store. They have a side room that's like a Game Stop without the attitude. I used to live at their St. Davids, PA store. Got my first LCD TV there... a 30" $799 PowerSpec. ahh mem'ries.
todd @ Jan 15th 2008 12:18PM
Live 10 mins from it.
RPGJock @ Jan 15th 2008 1:48PM
GTA4 is going to be bane of gamers this year. For one reason I say this is because it can't nail down a stupid release date so other publishers can plan around it. You going to see more games get pushed back with the idea of a GTAIV can break sells for those few weeks that its released. Well with the exception of a few Nintendo games (Wii Fit mostly) Nothing wants to be in the wake of a GTA game no less than a Halo, Metal Gear, or Mario game.
Secondly, one of the most controversial franchises in video game history has to release it's latest game during an presidential election year. If that's not going to add plutonium to already the nitroglycerin induce explosion ready to happen over video game violence. Its going to be a long year the way I look at it.
MortalWound @ Jan 15th 2008 2:10PM
Can anyone say best b-day ever. I turn 19 on march 10 and the two games ive been looking forward to for like 4 years now come out eithin 2 days of my birthday if these are all correct
deaftly @ Jan 15th 2008 3:12PM
I think were all missing the point here. A gaming glove for people with 4 fingers is only $19.99.
Abscissa @ Jan 16th 2008 6:25AM
Heheh, I also live literally about 5 minutes away from Mayfield Heights, OH and go to that MicroCenter all the time (heh, I've probably seen samfish and never knew it). Don't really like the area - Lake County is a hell of a lot better. But MicroCenter is awesome as long as you avoid talking to the sales staff (but why would you ever bother talking to commissioned sales suits anyway?). For prices and selection, it kicks the crap out of Best Buy or Circuit City (there's a Circuit City a few doors down from the Mayfield MicroCenter and it stinks - *literally*.)
RufusB @ Jan 16th 2008 10:24AM
That was hilarious that Gamedaily was saying that it will be released on Saturday the 8th of March. Really?!? I believe that I read March 08.
I have a Microcenter by me and they are good. They just have tons of stuff and I do not get hounded to have to pre-order some Barbie Princess or some crap, because it will be "sold out if I do not drop my 5 bucks down today" like some places I know.
