Nintendo of America just sent word that the US version of
Smash Bros. Brawl is getting another delay, albeit much shorter than
the last one. Instead of February 10,
Brawl is now expected to come out one month later on March 9. The reason, according to Nintendo, is that "development is taking slightly longer than expected." The official
US Smash Bros site has already been updated to reflect the change, as well as include a brief note of apology.
The
Japanese SSBB site also notes that
Brawl is delayed one week in the region, from January 24 to 31. Europe's release date is still
TBA 2008.

I'm not really that mad because I still have Metroid Prime 3: Corruption to play, but the fact that Japan's delay is so much shorter gets me SO ANGRY :( If it weren't so expensive I would go to Japan, buy the game, play it for a month, buy the English version on March 9, and then sell the Japanese version to an Asian friend of mine.

For all of you people hoping about updates, the character list has already been released and the only new updates are Wolf from the Fox series, Lucario the Pokemon, R.O.B. the robot, and a bunch of characters from Melee. Silver lining: Luigi's my favorite character.

You'd think these new release dates due to development issues would be pushed back linearly...but I guess video games in Japan develop 75% faster than in the United States. That is fan freakin-tastical, but I'm pretty sure it violates the first law of thermodynamics.

My guess is that the game has gone gold a bit late, but since the game is being made in Japan, the manufacturing delay only has to be a week, since they could get it to stores almost hot off the presses (i'm pretty sure they're actually pressed in Malaysia, but still a lot closer)
The logistical difficulties, however, push it back for US a month, so that they can have a fully-stocked launch
