Turok demo now due on Xbox Live [update]
We had our heart broken by Turok more than a few times in the past, so we were a bit trepidacious when he showed up on our doorstep again, clean-shaven and with a handful of flowers. But we decided, after dancing in our pajamas and eating ice cream with some of our closest female friends, that love, real love, was worth the risk.So when we saw Major Nelson's post that a demo had hit Xbox Live Marketplace we'll admit we were a bit excited. We found one of the black dresses from our college days that still fits, put on our best perfume. And then hopped on to Xbox Live to find that he was nowhere to be found. We're sitting there all alone just listening to the violinist and eating breadsticks, waiting for him to arrive. What's worse, people in the UK say they've already seen him! We'll let you know when he gets here, but he better have a great excuse. Unless he comes in missing an arm and with velociraptor teeth marks on his head, we are finished. Again.
Update: Major Nelson has updated the post to say that two-timer Turok will be available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and United Kingdom. Or in other words, not in North America. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have to go buy a pint of Chunky Monkey and take a long bath.

"This bruise on my eye? Um... I fell into a door knob."
:x
ZenGaijin @ Jan 15th 2008 9:51AM
You're going to need a NERF door for that......and some NERF stairs.
ZenGaijin @ Jan 15th 2008 9:17AM
This is one title I am excited to play but not sure how good it will be. The last few Turoks were horrible but this one looked like a step in the right direction.
Brian Fantana @ Jan 15th 2008 9:37AM
Downloading on the UK account. Why and the hell is it not available for the US yet?
Ignatius @ Jan 15th 2008 9:57AM
In a rare moment of awesome for the Brits.
jynxycat @ Jan 15th 2008 9:42AM
lol@People excited for a Turok game.

When the demo shows up, do yourselves a favor and d/l it. It's worth it strictly for the brutal stealth kills. Other than that one gimmick, it doesn't get any more generic of an FPS (kinda like Timeshift or FEAR.) I still think it was a HUGE mistake not to let people play as dinos in MP mode though. It's going to cost them a ton of sales, mine included.

wasn't F.E.A.R. for PC almost GOTY in 2005 ... ?
Jonah Falcon @ Jan 15th 2008 9:58AM
The demo is exclusive to OXM magazine in the Feb 2008 issue. Major Nelson screwed up - it's not going to be on Live.
ZenGaijin @ Jan 15th 2008 10:16AM
I think I trust him more than you. No offense.
Brian @ Jan 15th 2008 10:24AM
The demo is up now so i doubt it is an exclusive.
I'm at 25% : )
Jonah Falcon @ Jan 15th 2008 11:12AM
It may not be the same demo.
ZenGaijin @ Jan 15th 2008 10:51AM
Well I had my hopes dashed faith in Jonah +1
Yuccadude @ Jan 15th 2008 5:16PM
I got the demo by pre-ordering Turok at Best Buy and I got a free hat with it, so if I decide to cancel my preorder, then I get to keep the demo disc and hat : )
tmacairjordan87 @ Jan 15th 2008 10:16AM
jeez i hope no one's actually excited for this game cause the gameplay trailers make it look pretty crappy. Multiplayer also looks incredibly unbalanced since every damn gun seems to shoot explosive rounds
RDX @ Jan 15th 2008 10:25AM
But if EVERY gun shoot explosive rounds...
RDX @ Jan 15th 2008 11:32AM
Bah, I sounded like a caveman in that last post. Ahem...
But if EVERY gun shootS explosive rounds...
Jerk Face @ Jan 15th 2008 10:45AM
That girl in the picture is pretty hot, for the record.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 15th 2008 11:01AM
No US support? Stood up twice in one week. A loser is me. :(
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 15th 2008 11:31AM
My comments haven't been working.
So this is a test
Matt B @ Jan 15th 2008 11:46AM
I've read that the demo was very dark. But knifing and kicking a dino in the face is fun.
T3H WICKERMAN (FDF) @ Jan 15th 2008 11:50AM
I found this turok and some magazine called oxm attached to my 3 new rock band tracks. Demo was meh. Still its one of the better Turoks.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 15th 2008 11:57AM
I haven't really been following this game.
Do you still have handheld nuclear weapons? That was the best part about the original games.
Alienhead @ Jan 15th 2008 2:08PM
It's Turok...who cares.
SmellyIrishMan @ Jan 15th 2008 2:43PM
Ha! That'll teach you blasted Americans to issue class action lawsuits! How's it feel now?!
(I only wish you had been denied something more significant.... like Rock Band :'( )
Just justing btw.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 15th 2008 2:51PM
Kinda like how your people were denied potatoes

Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jan 15th 2008 3:27PM
ouch.
Jeff @ Jan 15th 2008 3:28PM
Honestly, I'm excited for this game. It's based on UE3, so it will run well and look pretty. It looks like its getting lots of love and attention from its devs, based on the IGN blogs... and it has dinosaurs.
Let me know how the demo is; PC version won't be out for ages.
Yuccadude @ Jan 15th 2008 5:18PM
Demo was pretty good, knifing dinos never was more fun, or so I am led to believe, seeing as this is my first time knifing said dinosaurs. only problem is it's really hard to sneak up on people, they just see you and back away while lighting you up, so I didn't get to stealth kill any of them.
