Gamecock details E.I.E.I.O. 2008 expo
Self-described campaigner for independent titles and apologetic speech crasher, Gamecock Media Group, has detailed plans for its second annual and awkwardly worded Expo For Interactive Entertainment, Independent and Original. This year's E.I.E.I.O. is scheduled to take place on March 6 at the prestigious Stubb's Bar-B-Q in Austin, Texas. Gamecock's upcoming lineup will be on show and in the company of developers, "music, mayhem and good ol' fashioned Texas hospitality."
The all-day event will lead into South by Southwest's (SXSW) Interactive Festival and culminate in a concert which hopes to feature "bands with members of the gaming press in them." Umm, does Rock Band count?

Its not held at Old McDonald's Farm?
Jonah Falcon @ Jan 16th 2008 1:00PM
Beat me to it. I was going to say, "Who's the conference director, Old McDonald?"
Mr.ESC @ Jan 16th 2008 1:03PM
You beat all of us but I'm doing the reference anyway.
Marty @ Jan 16th 2008 1:00PM
I'd be wary of that "good ol' fashioned Texas hospitality." You might wind up being dragged by a rope from the back of a pickup truck.
Delgado @ Jan 16th 2008 1:06PM
That is one of the more offensive comments I've read on Joystiq.
Go DIAF, Austin is one of the best cities ever, period.
Marty @ Jan 16th 2008 1:12PM
It's offensive to me that this kind of thing still happens in the south. :P
Delgado @ Jan 16th 2008 1:37PM
It's offensive to me that there are people as ignorant as you.
Does most educated city in the United States ring a bell? Let me guess, you've never lived in the south?
Andy S. @ Jan 16th 2008 2:18PM
If by "this kind of thing" you are referring to bigotry being carried out to violent extremes, well, welcome to THE WORLD. It's unfortunate, but it happens everywhere.
As someone who has lived in the south and the midwest of the US, I can testify to the fact that bigotry isn't limited to the South. It is narrow-minded as to presume (incorrectly) and suggest that such behavior typifies the people of the Southern US; ignorantly and willfully buying into such a stereotype is a fine example of just the sort of bigotry that you seem to be lamenting.
Marty @ Jan 16th 2008 2:31PM
Obviously I'm not so dense that I think that all violent racism / bigotry happens in the Southern U.S., and nowhere else in the world... But I am not a bigot because I know the history of the U.S. and am not afraid to make reference to it.
Delgado @ Jan 16th 2008 2:52PM
By that logic, then I should treat all Germans as though they are antisemitic, all Americans as genocidal maniacs (Native Americans), and all African Americans as slaves... because, you know, that IS their history and everything, so it is TOTALLY cool if I "make reference to it."
Why am I even arguing with someone so ignorant?
Marty @ Jan 16th 2008 3:08PM
Thanks for the history lesson Delgado. In the future, I'll try to remember that mentioning the south's racist past is ignorant. I will also do my best to forget the entire slavery thing, since bad things like that are best forgotten about... right?
Mr.ESC @ Jan 16th 2008 5:23PM
Do a joke about Canada,Mexico or the UK and is all good fun, make a joke about Texas and you are in deep trouble.
Don't you know you shouldn't mess with Texas? :P
Mr.ESC @ Jan 16th 2008 5:29PM
Seriously we make fun of everything here and you people can't take a joke about texas?
*sigh
Mr.ESC @ Jan 16th 2008 1:03PM
Old Mcdonald had an expo EiEiO...
Jonah Falcon @ Jan 16th 2008 1:06PM
I'm going to hold out for Boston Integrated New Graphics Oratory (B.I.N.G.O.)

puppy kisses @ Jan 16th 2008 1:34PM
I hope someone rushes their stage and blurts out some ridiculous garbage.
ThornedVenom @ Jan 16th 2008 1:48PM
Who knew that Gamecocks could actually be such dicks?
Bennyishere @ Jan 16th 2008 2:18PM
Hehe, penis.
CloudANDTidus @ Jan 16th 2008 2:29PM
"Gamecock's upcoming lineup will be on show"
...wait. They make games between being dicks?
Tuatara @ Jan 16th 2008 2:40PM
Stubb's > You.
Rabidkeebler @ Jan 16th 2008 2:43PM
I've already RSVPd for the show. As for the dragging behind in a pickup truck. Why not go farther back and say burying in the dirt up to your head for the coyotes to eat. Or being pulled in 4 directions by horses. Austin is pretty liberal (in the sense of Texas) which really just makes it a moderate area. But it is a fun place. You really get the truck pulling thing out in East Texas or farther anyway.
Besides if you wanted to go legitimate offensive then you should go with sniping from the UT tower.
mrbiggsndatx @ Jan 16th 2008 3:52PM
I live in Austin, and frankly, its going to be one hell of a good time! ScreenBurn 2008 and the HIGH TIMES DOOBIE AWARDS are also going to be here that week for SXSW!! Did someone say Doobie and Video games??
SharpBlade @ Jan 16th 2008 6:18PM
Looks like it's time for me to dress up in my Big Daddy costume and go crash their little BBQ shindig.
Ethan @ Jan 16th 2008 6:47PM
Because they are the only independent publisher? Up their arses.
mr mobius @ Jan 16th 2008 7:06PM
Who wants to start taking bets on how many people decide to crash their speeches?
OTAM @ Jan 16th 2008 9:41PM
They said Gamecock.
