Sheik returns in Smash Bros. Brawl
Gamers concerned that their favorite gender-confused Zelda alter-ego would be absent from Brawl have absolutely nothing to worry about. The Hyrulian princess's down-special move will still transform her into Sheik, now re-imagined to match the visual style of Twilight Princess.
According to the official Smash Bros. Brawl blog, Sheik's look is based on an early design drafted during development of Twilight Princess, meaning that at one point Sheik was a shoe-in for Link's grittiest adventure to date. Sheik appears to retain the needle storm, chain, and vanishing moves from Melee, and shares the "Light Arrow" Final Smash with Zelda.

Woo!
HotShotX @ Jan 16th 2008 8:21AM
When she does her final smash, does her armor fall off too?

Yes.

timnc @ Jan 16th 2008 8:22AM
So I guess this is why the game was delayed.... AGAIN.
Exo @ Jan 16th 2008 8:41AM
i doubt this has anything to do with why it was delayd. just because tehy uts put it up on teh blog doesnt mean it hasnt been completed for months already
timnc @ Jan 16th 2008 9:04AM
Sorry, I should have used my tags.
Todd @ Jan 16th 2008 10:46AM
Heh, so let me guess, you would prefer to have the game rushed to production so that you can buy, play, and be disappointed. I see you possess much logic.
Todd @ Jan 16th 2008 10:48AM
I'm totally fine with delay after delay if the developers keep on cramming as much game content as possible. I won't easily get bored, that's for sure. Plus, variety is key. People like variety, and people like options. This much is certain.
timnc @ Jan 16th 2008 10:49AM
Actually, Todd, I don't plan on buying this game at all. I have been annoyed at the hype for months now of slow trickles of character details. I feel like it's Metroid Prime all over again, which was a major dissapointment for me.
But that's just me.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 16th 2008 11:15AM
Metroid Prime 1 was only a disappointment to people who already didn't want a 1st person metroid.
MP3 was only a disappointment to people who wanted to see it in high definition.
bm @ Jan 16th 2008 5:18PM
"MP3 was only a disappointment to people who wanted to see it in high definition."
Wrong. It was a disappointment to any real Metroid fans. It murdered the essence of the Metroid Prime series by making it into a linear, restricted piece of boring shit (like all other FPS's).
baby sea tuna @ Jan 16th 2008 8:28AM
Cool. I was always pretty good with Sheik.
chulipin @ Jan 16th 2008 9:00AM
Lol at the last picture, I can imagine Link saying:"Woah, you are a girl!?"
FOXHOUND @ Jan 16th 2008 9:07AM
Much like Diddy Kong in the bottom right picture yelling "KOTEX! IT FITS!"...
samfish @ Jan 16th 2008 9:24AM
I give it to the end of the day for someone to Photoshop a cock on her in that picture.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 16th 2008 9:29AM
And even then I would be genuinely surprised if it that person wasn't you.
samfish @ Jan 16th 2008 10:54AM
>_>
samfish @ Jan 16th 2008 10:55AM
...stupid HTML brackets...
michas_pi @ Jan 16th 2008 9:08AM
This is irrelevant for me because I never change into Sheik. Regular Zelda FTW.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 16th 2008 11:16AM
After everyone continuously kicked my ass with the button pusher friendly shiek, I made it my goal to be able to kick their asses with regular zelda.
And yes, regular Zelda is a fuckin badass.
michas_pi @ Jan 16th 2008 3:13PM
@Crono: Hell yes. Also, mid-air kick for massive damage.
Squibmacbooth @ Jan 16th 2008 9:12AM
WHERE THE HELL IS FALCON?!?!? He was awesome in the first game ( 2nd he kinda sucked) but theres still time!!!!!!! c'mon ninty
Juice @ Jan 16th 2008 9:15AM
That last pic is hilarious. Link is like lunging forward ready to "thrust".
ThornedVenom @ Jan 16th 2008 9:20AM
I am not ashamed to admit that Sheik is beautiful in Brawl. =)
Martini @ Jan 16th 2008 9:30AM
The correct term is HYLIAN, not the commonly misused HYRULIAN.
Durinthal @ Jan 16th 2008 10:07AM
Actually, "Hyrulian" is also appropriate in this case, as it is the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 16th 2008 11:18AM
Hylian was invented for OoT because "Hyrulian" seems difficult to say for the Japanese.
BPM64 - The Second Attack! @ Jan 16th 2008 1:05PM
I believe it's spelled "Hyrulean."
And if memory serves me right, Hyrulean is the term for the current race of humans, with Hylians being the ancient race of humans who could listen to the gods (unlike Hyruleans, their pointy ears weren't just for show).
But, as I don't take game stories too seriously... I may be wrong.
LiK @ Jan 16th 2008 10:05AM
what a babe. ^.^
Eric @ Jan 16th 2008 10:07AM
Is Luigi a playable character is this game? I have never seen him in any of the screen shots or art work.
Grog @ Jan 16th 2008 10:54AM
He's most likely an unlockable character, like in the previous games. That is great news for us, since it means they probably have other unlockable characters who haven't been revealed either.
Brad Lee @ Jan 19th 2008 3:20PM
Luigi better be in Brawl, I'd be so pissed if he wasn't. He was both my favorite and best character. I loved the slippery controls, and the unbelievably queer style that made people uncomfortable to lose against him (especially his "red" costume).
Secre @ Jan 16th 2008 10:16AM
My favorite character is back! I was waiting so long to hear this news. I'm glad Sheik wasn't left out.
This is the best moment of my wait for Brawl ^^.
Deuxhero @ Jan 16th 2008 10:22AM
Older than Raptor Jesus.
Marty @ Jan 16th 2008 10:50AM
My personal favorite is #3, with Sheik ready to crash down on top of an innocent monkey. Good times.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 16th 2008 11:21AM
She should have stayed a brunette for the transformation. Original Shiek was blonde because original Zelda was blonde.
Anni @ Jan 16th 2008 11:39AM
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait... Shiek is Zelda? Jeez, guys, warn me of these spoilers next time!
Well, I guess I'll have to move on to Wind Waker now. This Tetra chick is pretty cool, I wonder what her story is!
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 16th 2008 11:45AM
LOL!
Admiral_Mike @ Jan 16th 2008 11:45AM
I'm still waiting for them to announce away for zero-suit samus to turn back into normal samus. If they Did I'd be perfectly happy with her losing the suit.
I'd also like to know why wario gets a different model for his normal clothes but samus only gets a blue and yellow colour swap for the fusion suit.
sheetman @ Jan 16th 2008 1:14PM
Zero Suit Samus becomes regular Samus by using her final smash. It hasn't been on the Dojo yet, but I think it's called "Return of Samus".
BPM64 - The Second Attack! @ Jan 16th 2008 1:08PM
Since the reveal for Sheik, all characters now have all their special moves and Final Smashes listed in their original posts.
As already revealed in some public demo videos, Zero Suit Samus's Final Smash is she gets her Varia Suit back.
Admiral_Mike @ Jan 16th 2008 1:17PM
*Zoidburg voice* HOORAY!!!
Blue_Falcon @ Jan 16th 2008 12:13PM
Next up is Captain Falcon.
Please? :(
BPM64 - The Second Attack! @ Jan 16th 2008 1:11PM
I'm willing to bet he'll be a hidden character again, which is why he hasn't been announced yet.
There's no doubt that Falcon's in. They're already used his emblem for the Goroh AT post, and no other F-ZERO posts have been made yet. If they were to, for some odd reason, exclude F-ZERO from Brawl, they wouldn't have used Falcon's icon for Goroh (it'd be a Smash icon like with most of the ATs).
n_revolution9 @ Jan 16th 2008 1:30PM
This only means Twilight Princess should have been A LOT better.
Travis @ Jan 16th 2008 2:58PM
The next update is going to be a big one...the entire cast of "Family Matters" is unlockable...
I cannot wait to see Carl Winslow and Steve Urkel's Final Smash!
