I currently own the Wii Fit and it works fine on carpet too.
The Balance-Board seems like its well made and i can't imagine somebody breaking it by simply getting on it.
i think this game is one of the best games that they came out for wii so far.

I am a big supporter of the Wii. I have only played the sports games on it though, but I feel that it’s a very good system. It is definitely a system that I would encourage for anyone with children to get. Yes I know it is a video game system and that its not going to take place of regular exercise, but I feel that the bowling and tennis help a little bit and it also creates a way to have family fun. I definitely think that the Wii fit will be a hit. I know for a fact that there are many lazy people in the world today and if they didn’t have to leave there house to go exercise they would be happy. If I were to buy this game, I would definitely use it. It sounds like a fun way to get exercise. I wouldnt be dreading exercise if I had this.

The thing i've found about Wii Sports is it is boring as piss if you try to make it something you can play daily, i play once a week (during the programming gap between The Simpsons and Family Guy on Sunday, sorry King of the Hill) and enjoy it pretty much every time (except when the fitness challenge makes me do Putting challenge. I hate putting)

I think they point of Wiifit is going to be to play it every day, though (or at least every couple of days). It would be a terrible fitness program if you only did it on sundays.

Yeah, maybe that's why I got sick of it. I played it like everyday since I got the system and games. After beating the ultimate game of Mario Galaxy, the only game I play for the Wii is Wii Sport bowling fitness where the pins keep adding up.
Otherwise it's back to Gow or Rock Band.

I predict that this thing will snap fast, hard, and Nintendo will have a few lawsuits from very large people, even if Nin makes these things steel reinforced. Imagine the collateral damage an 800 pounder could do if he fell off this thing... O_o Just when you thought that wrist-strap problem was bad enough! (I'm half joking, of course! The problem I see is why does Nin think that only fit people would use this? Too many overweight people will kill this thing, and do you think they will read the weight limits? I don't think so. I also firmly believe that drunk college students will use Wii Fit in drinking games to see who will puke the fastest. But, then, I'm a realist.)

Actually, the "big boy" Balance Board has already been confirmed, though it only adds 30 lbs to the weight limit: http://www.gamelegend.biz/glgs/?content=lgst18

I have the Wii Fit (imported by my wife's sister).
The board is incredibly sturdy, I don't see how anyone could break it by accident - minus the extreme cases, of course.
It's a lot of fun and you do get a fairly genuine workout out of it.
My wife challenged me to use it for 20 minutes every day for 3 months to see what kind of impact it may or may not have. I'll be blogging about it at http://wiifatty.com in the coming week.
